Not very exciting, but Hard Candy “peace.” An oldie and a cheapie, but it never fails me. Also Maybelline’s colour tattoo in “bad to the bronze.” Always works.
Stars and Rockets, Soft Brown, Lumi Pigment
This past 3 weeks, it has been MAC Bellgreens palette! I’ve worn it in some way every single day since I got, except 2 days. Always get lots of compliments on how great it looks and how it brings out my eyes. But….I know boredom will eventually kick in, then it’ll probably be back to Woodwinked/Antiqued.
Urban Decay Smog is my absolute go-to shadow. A medium-dark bronze that adds instant depth to my eyes! It’s what I wear when I have no time to put a look together, but it can make a beautiful evening eye too because it’s rather shiny. Rather versatile for us deeper skinned gals!
NARS Ondine. If it’s ever DC’d, I will buy at least 5 backups… I have some similar eyeshadows, but there’s just something special about Ondine. The first time I ever swatched it, I literally heard the angelssing, and when I actually wore it for the first time, it was magic!
I never tire of Burberry Sheer in Midnight Brown, and Urban Decay’s Snakebite and Suspect.
BareMinerals loose eyeshadow in Bare Skin. It’s just a perfect, shimmery pinky-brown nude.
Christine, that Tom Ford color is gorgeous! I may need to buy it…
Mine would be Limit in the UD Naked 3 palette. I hit pan on it – it needs to be sold as a single!
UD Sin 🙂
Same here. I loved so much in the Naked palette that I bought it individually.
Urban Decay Mildew and AC/DC.
at the moment (bc i change my mind a lot) ud ydk/mac satin taupe and their dupes 😀
I would say MAC’s Vanilla and Swiss Chocolate.
The bottom color in Wet ‘N’ Wild Silent Treatment – it’s a cool-toned purple taupe. I have olive-green eyes and it works really well for me.
Maybelline colour tattoo Bad to the Bronze
Urban Decay ydk and Mac sketch
MAC Centre Stage and Sea Worship. Sadly, both are LE so when they’re gone, they’re GONE! Mind you, I haven’t finished an eye shadow in more than 20 years and that was back when I only had and wore one shadow!
MAC Outre!! I only have the edges around the pan left, I am SOOOO sad, haven’t found a decent dupe yet 🙁
A taupe eyeshadow. Not by a specific brand, but it just looks good on pretty much ANYONE!
MAC Sumptuous Olive!
I don’t think I could get tired of Sidecar by Urban Decay, just something of it, I always go to that color for almost everything. I even have to buy 5 single of it so I don’t keep hitting the pan a lot.
MAC Rose pigment for sure! It’s so gorgeous and flattering on warm skin tones. I can’t get enough rose golds in my life!
As either an eyeshadow or a base, Maybelline Leather Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige.
Clinique Chubby sick in Whopping Willow.
That is such a divine colour and it will be my next spend. It looks gorgeous.
any shade of tan or brown
Benefit’s cream shadow Flatter Me – it really does seem to suit me all the time 🙂
MAC Saddle, it’s the perfect transition color for me.
An oldie goldie: MAC’s Taupe (matte) in the large pan. I will never use it up because it is so big and I have had it forever. Still works, still looks good. My grab and go for all over the lid. Bobbie Brown’s Cement in both the powder and cream form would be a very close second.
I bought Taupe many years ago and I think it is one of the most perfect all purpose shades for anyone. Another favourite is NARS Mekong for a little more dramatic look.
Maybelline Color Tattoo in ‘Bad to the Bronze’ and ‘Barely Branded,’ Urban Decay Sin and Toasted, MAC Banshee. I guess they’re all kind of boring and neutral, but so lovely and versatile!
Hmm MAC Club? It’s one of the first shadows I ever bought and I’m still excited to wear it!
Maybelline Bad To The Bronze and MAC Girl Friendly.
Stila Kitten or the DC wonder Cloud. They both work well for a wash that is easy and I don’t have to think about it.
Those are my go-to shadows for an easy “one & done” look! I will never understand why they DC’d Cloud, but I am so glad I don’t strictly adhere to makeup “expiration dates!” I came close to throwing it out once, simply because I’ve had it forever (there was nothing wrong with it, it had languished in a drawer barely touched for years). I decided to keep it, though, & once I started using it again, I decided to try out more shades. I could not believe that Cloud is no longer available… and was so relieved to still have mine! Phew!!!
MAC Patina. An eureka moment..found a not too over the top shimmery eyeshadow that worked well with my neutral skintones..co-incidentally wearing it today.
Mac Satin Taupe, Woodwinked, Brown Script and Embark. OK hard to stop when you actually start naming them lol
Taupe that leans more towards gray than tan : )
i never tire of my mac 4 pan & 15 pan palettes but for high end im in love with tom ford! looking to get cocoa mirage soon 😉
MUG Peach Smoothie.
Daniel Sandler’s Lava polychromatic powder eyeshadow (LE). It’s difficult to describe – a red-brown base with copper, red, and bronze shift. It makes for a stunning smoky eye with either a brown or a burgundy eyeliner.
Ohh – that’s a tough question – but it would have to be the greens – khaki, my Charlotte Tilbury the Rebel greens, mint green, YSL Slate green, MUFE No. 80 green, L’Oreal Golden Emerald and Gilded Envy. All beautiful.
Next would be the blues – I am a lot more specific about my blue colours – navy blue and a soft arctic blue are my favourites.
Cherry Cordial from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. It’s become my go to crease shade
MAC smut! I love it! Not too brown, not too gray, not quite black but still deep enough to set and fade out my black eyeliner regardless of whatever other shades I feel like using.I only wish the formula could be a bit smoother and more buttery.
Chanel quad Raffinement
The three shadows I never tire of are Make Up For Ever Matte eye shadow in Black, the deepest and purest black eye shadow ever, Nars Matte eye shadow in Sophia, a cool brown that complements my deep skin tone, and Nars Cream eye shadow in Paper Tiger, the dreamiest toffee brown shadow that melts onto my lids and makes them look like I’m not really wearing any makeup at all.
Oh, difficult question this. I guess it’s MAC All That Glitters. I don’t use it everyday, but it always works wonders for me.
MAC Copperring.
Smashing on blue/green eyes.
Hey guys, I’m newly brunette from being a blonde. Any tips for switching my makeup over?
The eyeshadow I wear the most has got to be Urban Decay Stray Dog. I have a bunch of backups in the event it is discontinued, so I probably have more than I can wear in this lifetime, but it is the perfect neutral brown for me. My second would have to be Urban Decay Lounge, which is discontinued, but I have plenty of back ups as well as dupes. It has a duo chrome type finish, it flashes green and plum although it looks brown in the pan. It really makes my green eyes look quite green, and both the green and plum it flashes enhance my eye color. Urban Decay Plague was my go to purple after they discontinued Eden’s Expressway, but I just can’t pull the purples off as I was able to when I was younger. I am 51, on the verge of 52 and for some reason, purple eye shadow makes me look like I have black eyes, sort of like a beat up old Barbie doll. Not a good look for me at this point in life. I have always really liked the formula of Urban Decay eye shadows, even the original Pot Holes line from their inception. I don’t seem to have the fall out that many have complained about, and when I am in a hurry, I have been known to forget my primer, but they have always worn quite well on my very oily skin. That said, I have all of the Naked palettes, and can create many looks with Stray Dog as my main color. Neutrals suit me quite well as I am older now, and I have tried the Chanel palettes, and they aren’t consistent, and for the price, they should be as well as Dior Quints, and those are hit or miss as well. For the price point, the quality, and the ease of attaining them, Urban Decay is my go to eye shadow brand. If only they would stop discontinuing the shadows I love. I am running out of room with all of the backups I have stashed away.
Urban Decay eyeshadows are amazing, & their formula has only gotten better over the years (I’m 37, so I can remember the history of the product, as you mentioned (I think their products started appearing in Hot Topics stores when I was about 17?). I love them so much, I tried to get my Mother on the bandwagon when the first Naked pallette came out years ago. She’s never worn eyeshadow, though, oddly enough (not that I can remember). She has big brown eyes that she always lines with a dark- but not black- pencil… so I turned her onto their 24/7 eyeliners, which she loves! Anyway, your post was great… it had me lusting after all the DC’d colors you mentioned. Have you tried Too Faced? The are my second favorite company, & have that similar soft, buttery texture to their shadows. They blend nicely & have some great colors. You might like them if you give them a try.
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze, Rimmel Scandaleyes shadow stick by Kate in Rose Gold, Milani Bella Taupe (crease)
Nars Ondine single eye shadow. I wear it everyday to work because it is kind of sheer and enough to look polished around my eyes.
Chanel Safari.
Makeup Geek Cocoa Bear and Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Oktoberfest…I use one of these for every single look as my transition shade.
