We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

This is easy……so many reviewers do not include information as to specific colors/styles they purchase. Most must think that we magically know this info. I get tired of reading things like “the perfect shade of pink, not to warm not too cool, and then they don’t say which color they chose when there are many it could be… or “matches my fair skin perfectly” .just because you know what particular color you purchased, it doesn’t show up in the review unless you specify it! Same goes for skin products, the perfect moisturizer for a 20 year old maybe isnt right for a 50 year old…Same for dry or oily girls….Please more detailed information, don’t forget we arn’t mind readers……………….
Agree, Penny, about the specific shade thing. At Sephora’s site, it seems to me it’s set up so that you have to choose a shade before you can post a review but that doesn’t seem to be the case when I am reading reviews – quite a few of them DON’T say what colour they are reviewing (perhaps the shade has been discontinued at Sephora and so any mention of the colour/shade doesn’t appear in the “headline” and so reading “this was the perfect shade of berry lipstick” without any reference at all to what shade…..useless!
Details instead of generalized blanket statements! Tell us WHY you loved it hated it. Tell us WHAT your experience with the product in question was. As well as things like: Did it have an unpleasant or strong fragrance? Did you have an unexpected bad reaction to the product, as in an ingredient that you were not expecting? And, especially regarding color and base makeup, HOW did the application and longevity work out for you?
It would be reaaally helpful if people reviewing a specific shade would NAME WHICH SHADE!! Sharing their skin tone would be nice too, but it is simply useless to rant/rave about a shade without specifying.
Yup, yup, yup – same as Penny comment to which I also agreed. LET ME KNOW what colour lipstick or blush you are referring to, please!
sameeee!!! i ALWAYS put the shade names in the reviews i leave, because i know how frustrating it is when you’re trying to find helpful reviews.
I wish reviews would include the persons skin or eye color/complexion so I can tell if the product might work for my complexion. Also wish people would mention the performance of the product especially longevity. I want to know how long it lasts, is this worth my money?
I have found that sometimes people are more specific about how a product doesn’t work for them than when it does. I tend to discount the ones that just say it’s great – I would prefer it if the review stated why it was great or how it worked for them. I guess when you’ve only got a sentence or two, you can’t always say much.
What’s the point in leaving a review “yeah it’s great” in what way is it great? I want a lot of detail so I know if it will work for my very fair, aging skin.
What Penny said. Exactly.
Fragrance! I wish I could be 100 per cent between reviews and the products own description how strong the fragrance is.
Most ingredient lists do have some kind of fragrance, but its hard to gauge strength and type from “fragrance’ somewhere in the list.
I hate hate certain scents and strong fragrance – this would make my life so much easier.
I wish reviewers would include their age, especially for skin care and face makeup.
I think the other comments have pretty much included my frustrations. I have received a request to review a skin care product before I have even received it and heaven knows, all I will be able to tell you immediately after receiving it is the texture of t ohe product, did it absorb or remain tacky, slippery, etcetera. I can’t tell you how it performs for my concerns and heaven knows I cannot take the other reviewers comments because i don’t know their skin type, concerns or there expectations for the product. As for makeup, if I don’t know your skin tone, undertone, what you are looking for and specifically why it worked or didn’t then it is useless to me. I watched a video awhile ago and the influencer was rating her foundations from 2022 in her order of preference and I am not joking, not a single foundation was a good match. I will give her credit for telling us her skin type and a general idea of undertone and depth of tone, but every single foundation was a bust and the video was like 58 minutes long. I sort of felt like I had lost 58 minutes of my life that I was never going to get back. She appears to be very close to my skin tone and undertone and I can make almost any super fair foundation with a neutral to cool undertone work for me. I think a disclaimer at the beginning saying these are the foundations I tried this year and this is my ranking and just so you know, none of them matched my skin tone or undertone. In subsequent videos she has cut back on her diatribe about how the foundation doesn’t match and just makes note of it. I left her a sort of not nice comment. I didn’t go off on her or anything but I did tell her that her video was not particularly helpful and that I felt sorry for her not finding a single foundation that worked for her. Anyway, I think most of us agree that consumer reviews are pretty useless most of the time. That is why Temptalia has been so helpful. Christine knows how to review a product. We may not always agree because things work differently for each of us but I can trust that she has a good baseline algorithm that levels the playing field and so when my monitor is showing bright pink and Christine says it is orange or peach, I can trust her description.
I hate review bombing because they’re just mad at the brand or poor customer service, it affects the rating of the actual product. Or just inaccurate reviews, like “can’t wait to get this product! 5 stars!” how can a product that’s never been used be reviewed 🙁
Whether they’re shills …
Their actual experience with the product, there are too many reviews just praising or critiquing the products. Tell me objectively how you use it, how it reacted with you and other products, how it wear.
Long time usage. I don’t mean years, but my cringe factor is reviews from people that actually state they just received the product, haven’t use it yet or use it once.
Reviewers need to state their skin type, a little bit of their lifestyle, and the climate they live in. They are important factors, even I don’t like some of my favorite products when I am in Europe for two weeks visiting family.
Actual hours something lasts. “All day” is different to someone who works a long day and to someone who only wears makeup when going on dates or to a class.
Would love to see foundation coverage measured by covering a freckle (or a fake freckle made with a liner). Light/medium/full = visible/diminished/gone. It’s too relative usually. A person with good clear skin will report full coverage on a product that won’t cover rosacea / wine spots / tattoos and people with those issues might report medium coverage on a product that has too much coverage for the person who just wants to even skin tone.
