Sparkly Products
I’ve found that slightly flatter sparkle particles tend to adhere better to skin, whether in eyeshadow or cheek form, and I love the effect of sparkle in general, so when it’s flatter and with a more emollient/thicker base product, it can be beautiful. I’m not a fan of too much fallout during wear, though, as it can be irritating! I’m not as fussed about light migration from a cheek product, though.

Even at 62, I do still love a sparkly lipgloss or eyeshadow. I’ve been blessed with fairly younger looking eye area and facial skin in general, so I can definitely still get away with wearing these. As for cheek/face products, I’m less of a fan of anything beyond flat, ultra micro-sparkles. I don’t like wearing anything overtly glittery on my cheeks or other face products.
BRING ME ALL THE SPARKLES!!!!
Love glitter, love foiled shades, love me some shimmer and shine and sparkle. Duochrome, yes please.
Don’t love fallout, product that looks great in the pan but has sucky binder so it just crumbles when you use it, metallic shades that make my eyelids look all crinkly.
I definitely do like shimmery kind of eyeshadows, but I don’t like sparkly, glittery ones. And definitely not on my face – I prefer a matte finish there.
I think sparkly eyeshadows can contain ingredients that could irritate my sensitive eyes and fall out is something I don’t like or want either.
Ordered this shade (along with around 35 others) this past BF! I cannot wait to try it! I have interstellar and Terra borealis and absolutely love those!
I love to sparkle!!! I love shimmery eyeshadows especially – contrary to common advice, I find that at my age, shadows with a sheen to them are far more flattering than matte ones, which can look so dry and emphasize crinkles and wrinkles on my lids. Even on my cheeks, I prefer products with a bit of sheen to those that are flat and matte. The only thing I don’t like is fallout, especially the kind that continues as you wear the product throughout the day (fallout during application is bad enough but at least it can be cleaned up but if it continues, that’s just not good at all). And the sort of sparkle that comes from the PET glitter and other glitters that look potentially harmful to the eyes – absolutely NO desire even to try any of those. I think Christine’s refusal to test those sorts of products on her eyes is a wise one indeed.
What is your favorite Indie sparkly eyeshadow formula? I’ve tried Devinah, Terra Moons, JD Glow, Give Me Glow, and Looxi so far. I have some shades by Clionadh, TouchofGlam, and Dandy Lions on the way. I want to try Sigil and GlamShop in the future. Currently, my favorite formula is by Terra Moons but I like individual shades by each brand.
I haven’t tried Devinah or Looxi in years now, but Devinah was on the more powdery/drier side, though Looxi was even more powdery for me.
I don’t think most of Sydney Grace’s eyeshadows are “sparkly,” so I’ll note that but not put them on the list. I think Clionadh and Terra Moons are at the top of my list, followed closely by Glaminatrix and JD Glow. Give Me Glow is really nice, too, but they have high-shine metallics more than really sparkly shades (overall).
I went on a bender a while back and bought a ton of Sigil shadows. The wait time on shipping is a buzz kill – but, the shadows are interesting. Some are unlike any others in my massive collection. But, what I’d say about them is this: very stunning, but they don’t give you the same intense pigment as some other shadows. Terra Moons is also my fave indie at present, and Sigil just can’t compare.
I like that sparkle brings light to the eyes but I don’t want it to migrate to my face. With my eye area starting to age I don’t like if it highlights lines, some don’t, some do, I’m not sure why, I’ll have to investigate that so I can guide myself away from the ones that do.
There’s also the psychological effect. I find shimmery shades on the lips (not necessarily on the lips or cheeks) have a way of cheering me up on a dreary day.
