What brand has held your interest the longest?

MAC for sure! I still really quite enjoy seeing what they release, especially over the last few years as I feel like the quality of seasonal launches has improved.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Another shout out for MAC. They still have the widest range of permanent products and new stuff (some of it very good) coming out regularly (though not with the insane frequency of ColourPop). They were my first real makeup “love” and you never get over your first love! Plus, they make my all time favourite, must-have, wheel-house lipstick, Craving! And they are readily available in person, which is a big deal for me.

Before they went under, OCC was my go-to for interesting lip colors. They really pushed the boat out and I looked forward to every release. Miss them.

If we talk makeup, it’s MAC. Yes, they don’t have the most exciting releases, but I’m also not trying to keep up with the trends. Yes, they still have issues with collaborations, but the core items are still great. I still can get an excellent full face of makeup from the brand.
I lost interest in all my old favorites, Benefit, Urban Decay, Make Up Forever… and Becca disappeared and I don’t like any of the products Smashbox kept.

General cosmetic wise, Paula’s Choice keeps my interest after so many years. Again, not a trendsetter, but every new product is awesome, even if not for my skin type.

Going back 20+ years – Chanel, without question. I’ve always loved the quality and selection. They also surprise me from time to time. I’d say Dior is a close second. I still buy every palette TF comes out with no matter how many “dupes” I may have.

For more recent years, I have to say I don’t care what others think about ND and PMG being repetitive. I will also buy every release. And love every minute of it.

Granted my every day looks are not basic and frequently my brother rolls his eyes at me because he hates the attention I attract. His prob not mine.

Also, I don’t tend to have “quality” issues that some do. I know products rate poorly here and elsewhere, but, honestly, I’ve never returned a makeup product ever and never had performance issues with anything. Sometimes I think its user error.

MAC always. Dior and Laura Mercier. Only because it’s been around forever Revlon has my lipstick heart, I’m never disappointed with any luminous pearl shade I get.

Estee Lauder was one of the first brands as well as Mac and Elizabeth Arden that I grew my makeup collection around. I still have the Channel lipstick that I wore on my wedding day 42 years ago, it looks and smells fine, the label is rubbed off but it is a beautiful red that matched the red roses in my bouquet.

MAC. I think they always will be. I am so glad they slowed down and are getting back to quality over quantity. The releases over the past year have renewed my interest. This last spring edit was just lovely.

In the past (not too distant I might add) I could only access brands through this blog as many were not available to me living in Aus. And whilst I can now (thanks to Mecca and Sephora being here), we still get limited stock and only a fraction of the collections – at much inflated prices.
By the time Urban Decay came to our shores, it was past its glory days. Ditto for MAC, Bobbi Brown etc.
The brands that have held my interest the longest in recent times is Lorac, Sydney Grace, possibly Natasha Denona and CP/Maybelline for lipsticks.

MAC for sure.
Back when I bought my first eyeshadows from them, no other brand had so many interesting, fun and unusual colours as they had. My first eyeshadow was Sprout, a spring-y green, it’s DC’ed of course, but I still have my these days not really useable pan left in my colourful self made palette.
Their core products are really good, I mean all of them. They have foundations for (almost) everyone, and have had that range for so long.
While I can dream away at many makeup counters, I always stay the longest at the MAC one, I admire the lipsticks, the eyeshadows, the blushes, chat a bit with the sales persons who have never, ever disappointed me and I almost always come home with a new little something.
And now after so many years I look forward to new releases and find they actually are better now than they were some years ago, when they released a lot more frequently.
I am going to get a blush from the Cherry release, It’ll be my rather late birthday gift to myself. 🙂
So, yes, I was and still am a MAC girl at heart.

Melt. They only started to fade into my periphery with the release of their butterfly rainbow palette last year.

I’ve been able to count on their quality and color stories (with only TWO exceptions over the last five or six years) more than any other brand so far. Even when they release something that’s super totally not for me (the aforementioned butterfly rainbow palette and the millienial pink one), I take a look anyway.
