What brand do you think will be least interesting in 2023?
Established brands like MAC, UD, etc. just seem to release very similar things year-round, which must obviously work for their bottom line! Oh, Tom Ford deserves a good mention here, too.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Bearing in mind that I only shop brands that are available “in person”, I’d say Tarte. They’ve got rid of some of their best products (or Sephora has) including the Natural Beauty blush (I noticed several reviews the other day at Sephora’s site lamenting that this is no longer being carried there). They have had some wonderful products over the years – their single shadows, the Chrome Paint Shadow Pots, some of their palettes and lots more – and they’ve phased out all of them.
Agree. Tom Ford is so out of fresh ideas, he saw my post about layering Lost Cherry with Ébène Fume and released ‘Cherry Smoke’.. Co-incidence, I think not.
LOL….and I bet he’s NOT giving you a percentage of the sales, is he????
Just about every “mainstream” brand sold at Sephora and Ulta! Worst offenders? Probably UD, Dior, Too Faced, and yes, Tom Ford and Charlotte Tilbury. With Pat McGrath heading into that territory, as well.
Actually MAC has started doing some more interesting things lately with their new skincare line. But NARS is incredibly boring… And I like that line in general. Agree about Tom Ford… every palette looks the same. I wish Guerlain was still available in stores.
Benefit gets my vote. Coming out with more blushes is the biggest idea they’ve had in a long time, but those came out in 2022.
The least interesting brands for me are:
UD – for their substandard eyeshadows
ColourPop – with their many eyeshadow releases that just look the same
Tarte, Too Faced etc – again, similar releases, perfumed eyeshadows
Too Faced. Their creativity and quality seems to have gone downhill since being bought.
So many brands are tired. Tarte, Too Faced, Urban Decay, Huda… It would be easier for me to list the brands I think WON’T be boring in 2023.
I’ve never used Charlotte Tilbury because all of her releases look the same- so many variations of pink!
Colourpop.
Urban Decay will for sure release another “naked” something in the same palette format.
Tarte, Urban Decay, KVD Beauty. ABH (brow products are still great but everything else is blah). Too faced.
I expect drugstore brands to embrace predictable moneymakers and skew very neutral and very conservative.
Concur! You listed them and I’ll add Too Faced, Lancôme, Estée Lauder (though it hurts to say so), and Sisley.
