MAC eyeshadows (Satin Taupe!) and in general drugstore mascara. I am not faithful to a brand though.
Smashbox primer (haven’t used it much recently, I’ve preferred a glowy primer), Mac lipsticks in general, Lorac Unzipped Gold palette, Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray
Easily the longest is my Cover Girl Waterproof Mascara. I have been using it since high school and that was the early 70’s. Nothing else in my collection even comes close although I have a few products that I have used for several years, namely my Chosungah 22 foundation, Clinique Water Resistant Eye Liner in black, MAC lip liner in Nightmoth and finally MAC eyeshadow in Omega.
I still have an enormous stash of old, many dc’d Nyx eyeshadow singles, trios, and the 5-pan Caribbean palettes that I sometimes revisit. Those and Revlon’s Kissable Balm Stains, Nyx HD setting powder, and some truly ancient nail polishes that are even as old as, Idk, 10-15 years old! ?
I will cry the day that my Nyx Beanie runs out! Root Beer, too! ?
Lol. I wish we had a “like” option. I have nail Polish that is maybe 15 yrs also but I can’t “use” it. Still can’t throw it out. On your Beanie…you need to set regular ebay follows. Things pop up. I recently found a Mac Mist lipstick come up and it was from the early 90s. Was my BFFS signature color. (frosty yellow on dark skin in AZ heat…it worked)
MAC eyeshadows, eye liners, blushes and lipsticks.
Makeup forever full cover, urban decay eye shadow,
Two products that I’ve been using a looooong time now are the L’Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil and the NYX HD Finishing Powder.
Nars Orgasm blush and Bobbi Brown pale pink blush!
What comes to mind — a few MAC shadows, especially Soft Brown, Brown Script; Nioxin hair spray; La Prairie cellular contour eye cream; Chanel eyebrow pencil in Soft Blonde; a Clarins eyeshadow quad, I think called Sunlight; Chanel blush in Tempting Beige (discontinued).
MAC Blot powder, MAC Club eyeshadow, and I have a really old Bobbi Brown blush in Clementine – still in the round compact!
I have bern a fan of the original Diorshow since it launched in 2005! I also have been using YSL touche eclat on and off for many years and have recently repurchased it again after having been disapponted with alternatives
Lancome Teint Idole Foundation — at least 20 years. I remember it was 12 hour, not 24, just a few years ago and it seems like there were probably a few other changes along the road but I don’t recall what the others were. She’s like a drug I just can’t quit. Every couple of years I go through a phase and try different foundations thinking I’d like something that is cheaper from a company against animal testing. (Second place foundation is Kat Von D liquid foundation, with an honorable mention to Tarte.) But it’s just perfect for me — both in consistency, coverage and shade. Nothing else seems to measure up. I’ve already done my most recent testing phase a few months ago, so I figure I have some time before I get the bug again.
Probably MAC Desert Rose blush. I’ve given up on trying to finish it (I hit pan years and years ago) and will probably just “back to Mac” it. Also Erno Laszlo pHelityl oil and sea mud soap (I started using Laszlo when I was in my early 20’s and I still always have those 2 item on hand), along with Clarins Blue Orchid oil.
I have no brand loyalties except with mascara, so for me it would be Dior Extase.
Ooh what an interesting question!
TheBalm Hot Mama blush, Tarte Exposed blush, Shiseido Baby lipstick (I think this is discontinued), Neutrogena Healthy Skin liquid foundation, NYC Smooth Skin loose powder
MAC eyeshadows as well as MAC Twig. I wore that lip colour to all my grunge shows in the ’90s and it seems to still be a regular go-to.
I do not have one thing I have been loyal to for that long. I guess Revlon lipstick? I have been wearing that since HS and I’m in my 30s now. But I haven’t stayed with a particular color . My favorites are more recent to the line. Otherwise I am not brand or product loyal I guess. I have changed my skin care routine over the years and I try beauty products that are new vs holding onto an old standard. Oh well…
Shiseido Benefiance Extra Creamy Foaming Cleanser — since it was first introduced in the early 90’s.
I’ve tried others over the years, but I’ve always come back to this one — HG.
There are three
1. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara, my HG mascara.
2. Coty Airspun powder
3. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick
My sister uses that mascara and it works so well for her. She just sent me a picture of how nice it makes her lashes look and she must have been using it for 20 years
MAC eyeshadows and lipsticks, Urban Decay Primer Potion, KVD Trooper liner, Urban Decay pencil eyeliners, Sephora makeup brushes…
Coty Airspun translucent powder. I’ve been using it since high school (in the 80’s…shutup lol) and I’ve never seen any reason to switch. Yes, it’s an old staple but it works beautifully on my skin. It’s getting harder to find in stores, though. It’s $6 for a container and it lasts forever. I guess if they ever discontinue it, I’ll have to find another brand. 🙂
I work at Walgreens and we still sell it. But it’s not with the makeup. It’s further down the wall with the beauty tools.
Where I live, Walgreens doesn’t have it. In fact, I asked for it once and the young girl didn’t even know what I was talking about LOL. Drug Emporium still has it in stock in every shade so that’s where I buy it. Wal-Mart had it too, but not in the translucent for some reason….just the darker shades.
If you ever can’t find it in your store, Walgreens.com has it. They should even be able to have it shipped to the store for you if you don’t like ordering online yourself.

Shu Umera(?) cleansing oil and Origins’ Checks & Balances. Two staples that continue to sneak into my stash.
Since I’m sixty years old, you’d think I’d still be using something that’s been around for 50+ years, but nothing that I can think of! I’m pretty sure that the beauty product I’ve been using longest is First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser, which I’ve been using for five or six years, I think.
From long ago… I’d still use Maybelline Great Lash mascara on casual days if almost all mascaras didn’t smudge on me. I always used Revlon nail polish back then, now I lean toward Deborah Lippman on the rare occasions when I polish my nails. I’ve found lip balms that moisturize my lips better than Chap-Stick. Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream is still a good product, but I’ve found things I like better. My skin has changed from extremely oily and acne-prone to combination normal/oily and rosaceic. My hair has totally changed from extremely oily and limp to dry at the ends and frizz-prone. Fragrances smell completely different than they did thirty or more years ago. My first signature scent was “Charlie”. The ad campaign for that product was perfect. That girl was going places, doing things, and having fun, not sitting around coyly trying to attract a man! Absolutely perfect imagery for the times. When I grew up a little, I switched to Chanel No. 19. Then I had a baby with asthma and quit wearing scent. And was way too busy to fuss with my hair (I wore a wash-and-go super-short pixie during those years) or put on makeup. So I started over again after he went away to college!
Charlie girl! OMG, I have not thought about that fragrance in years! Wore it all the time. Hated it, but it was the “in” thing to do. 🙂
That Charlie girl was Shelley Hack, who did a season as one of Charlie’s angels!
I’ve been using the UD Primer Potion since eighth grade, as well as elf Baked Blush in Pinktastic. But the makeup product I’ve used for the longest is the Maybelline Volum Express double ended mascara. I’ve been using for nearly four years now. Not the same tube, of course!
MAC goldmine, bronze and motif eyeshadow. I have bought each of these at least 3 times and still use them regularly. In fact i am wearing goldmine and bronze today.
MAC Studiofix Powder
Mary Kay Cleansers
Revlon Colorstay Eye Liner
MAC Red lipstick
Bobbi Brown lipsticks and Paula’s Choice Skincare. I’ve recently started using Drunk Elephant, but I still use my regular serum and sunscreen from PC along with some other products from the line. I ‘m using a lot of skincare lately!
Rimmel Stay Matte, Lorac Eyeshadow Primer, Tarte Gifted Mascara, Urban Decay eyeshadows, Urban Decay Eyeliners, Revlon lippies
Burt’s Bee’s Lip Balm — I’ve been using the original peppermint formula for over 10 years. I’ll probably use it for another 10 because it’s simply the best. Nothing feels as buttery or refreshing.
Salon Graphix Dry Shampoo — the one with brown tint gives me perfect root coverage while refreshing my blowout and volumizing my hair, flawlessly. I’ve been using this for almost 5 years.
Wet ‘n’ Wild Megalast Nail Polish — the best nail polish formula that exists, period. Their color range is limited, but this stuff lasts and goes on in 2 coats or less, regardless of the color.
Revlon Extra Life Topcoat — I’ve been using this for almost 10 years, probably. This is the best top coat. It’s 3-free and makes my manicure more flexible, so there’s less chipping.
Too Faced Shadow Insurance – I’v been using it so long now! It was one of my FIRST non drugstore buys as a oily hooded gal!! I still use it every day years later!!
MAC Rebel – My first Non drugstore lipstick that I bought with my own money. I remember buying this back when MAC lipsticks weren’t $21 !!!
Avon Blushes – My very first blush, was a light cool pink from avon. Think a sheerer version of Benefit Dandelion. It was totally wrong looking on my then NC30/35 warm/golden skintone LOL.
Probably Urban Decay eyeshadows and OPI nailpolishes.
Oh also Purpose face wash. Probably been using that for like, 10 years!
I cannot say because I had to change products very often because they were discontinued.
Actually I use a makeup, two primers and a powder which are all discontinued so I have to change again. I have backups but these won’t last forever.
????????????
Prescription retinoids since they first were introduced, initially for cystic acne and then for anti-aging. I change up my cosmetics all the time as I have gotten older except that I have been using Benefit Porefessional primer. since it was introduced.
Covergirl Lash Blast Volume. I love the formula, it doesn’t flake or irritate my eyes, but I do struggle with the size of the wand.
Probably would have to say L’Oreal Mascara and Revlon Color Stay Liquid Foundation.
Maybelline Great Lash mascara. I started using it when i started wearing makeup at 15, and never looked back! Also, L’oreal Color Riche lipstick in Nature’s Blush. I must have been 13 or 14 when I got it in a palette, and it’s still such a lovely, affordable nude lipstick. I always have a tube.
I have two – Clinique Naturally Glossy Mascara (Jet Brown, although I also use Jet Black) – have used it since high school when my Mom introduced me to my first skin care and cosmetics. I use others (Maybelline Full n Soft regular and Waterproof), but still use this frequently for everyday.
The other is Clinique Black Honey (in whatever the current form it is in). I first used it as the original pot gloss (along with Meadowflower Honey, anyone else remember that?) and then the Almost Lipstick and most recently the balm/lipscrub. Nice universal color that matches everything. Yes, I use other colors and brands, but these have been staples for many years (OK, decades).
Both great (and timeless) products.
In my twenties I was not brand conscious at all, I really just wore mascara, brown eyeliner and whatever hydrating tinted lip balm was around in those days. A very no-makeup makeup look. In my thirties and early forties the only change I made was adding an Almay slate-gray eyeliner and a Clinique lipstick in Berry Glace to the mix. I no longer use any of those products. Then in my late forties I had shingles on my forehead and when that healed enough I dove into makeup fully. The only product I am still using from that time is the Urban Decay Naked Basics eyeshadow palette-I am on my second one and don’t think I will ever be without it.
I think I win the prize for the most BORING product answer to this question.
Lubriderm body lotion — the one with the SPF 15. I know it’s not pool-side sunscreen, but I have felt it’s enough for at least a little protection slapped quick all over my body when in a hurry. I’ve been using it for as long as I can remember, esp in the summer.
No, I win for most boring…I was getting there. Vaseline lol. I use it to remove eye makeup. Even keep a little one in my purse in case my eyes get irritated.
How do you use Vaseline to remove eye makeup? Do you rub on with fingers or cotton pads? Remove with tissue? Do you use it to remove mascara?
I rub it in with my fingers, and then use a tissue to remove. You can use anything you want. I will caution you that if you are at all prone to breakouts, you should clean your brow area immediately, as it can clog those pores. I get some brow zits and I think that’s why. But it’s super gentle, removes even waterproof mascara, and it won’t irritate your eyes even if it gets in them. I have serious eye sensitivity issues and if I use the wrong thing, I’m out of they eye makeup game for at least a month!
I didn’t even think of Vaseline. I always have that in my cabinet and by my bedside
HA! Yep, Bonnie, you take the prize! I’ll be runner up. 🙂
LOVE this question! Of my current collection, I’ve been using Benefit Dallas the longest, it’s almost 5 years old (ducks, hides) – will definitely be replacing it this year even though I’ve used the heck out of it and still haven’t hit pan. In my overall routine, I’ve been using Bioderma with Shiseido facial cottons just as long and probably will for the rest of my life!
MACs eyeshadows lol
Once I started getting into makeup more seriously, all the brands that I use to use (eg Revlon), I have stopped using. I started having serious issues with their quality…
Now the brands I have been using the longest are:
QV (it’s like CeraVae) – gentle body wash, cream cleanser and daily moisturiser with SPF 30 (although I am using other brands at the moment)
Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in light porcelain. I use other brands too, but this one I use most in summer
UD Vice 2 – have had it for a few years now and keep using it
Milani & Maybelline lipsticks.
Philosophy skin care. I think it’s just about the only brand that I’m not allergic to!
SPF!!! Different ones over 40 years, but I ALWAYS wear it, And I preach it to everyone that asks…. it’s a very important part of your regime!
Maybelline mascara’s, Now using Angel push up falsies. I love it. Loved the Maybelline one before this one too! Been using this brand since High School.
Really good question and one I had to think about.
UD eyeshadow primer potion
YSL Touché eclat
Chapstick
UD eye shadows – Original Naked was my first high end palette
BareMinerals Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in Fair 01 and Mineral Veil in Original. I’ve been using both for 15+ years.
I’ve been using Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24hr foundation for a long time.
I’ve been using Olay skincare products for 30+ years. As for color cosmetics it would be Urban Decay eyeshadows and some Lancome eyeshadows…back when Lancome eyeshadow was good. I haven’t bought a palette since Audacity in Paris.
Lancôme Dual Finish Powder
NARS Orgasm Blush
Lancôme Artliner Eyeliner
Smashbox Primer
Bare Minerals Pure Radiance Powder
Anastasia Brow Powder
Chanel Lipsticks or EL Pure Color Envy
Clinique Cleansing Balm
Estée Lauder Lip Liner
These are my Holy Grail products . I’m 60 years old and think I’ve tried every product that exists !
Laura Geller Balance and Brighten foundation and blush.
Benefit porefessional, Skindanavia primer and finishing spray, anastasia dipbrow, kat von d tattoo & ink liner, Mac lipsticks
Clinique Clarifying Lotion #2 (since age 15!), Elizabeth Arden Lip Fix (since age 20), and Shiseido lash curler.
Creme de la Mer and La Prairie Cellular Eye Cream.
Elizabeth Arden’s Beautiful Color Smoky Eyes Pencil in Black Violet, Black, & Gunmetal- easiest smoky eye in a minute, does not ‘creep’ out to a panda eye, lasts 8 hrs & does not bother my contacts. That is saying a lot given that I wear an Arab or Indian style eye look every day. I live in India & go to Dubai, Qatar, and Abi Dhabi quite frequently so over the years I’ve tried EVERY kohl kajal/ pencil on earth! I introduced a famous Bollywood makeup artist to these EA pencils and now that is all he uses too!
Elizabeth Arden’s Beautiful Color Maximum Volume Mascara in Black- thick formula that holds a curl in my fine, long lashes, does not flake nor smudge, does not bother my contact lenses
Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick #61 Pink Parfait – the perfect cool light pink with a hint of pearly shimmer that’s a ‘your lips but better’ shade for my very warm and very fair NC10 complexion. Love it’s balmy moisturizing texture and it lasts for 4 hours gradually fading to a natural looking stain.
Seriously, I’m a pretty big product whore, and I know no boundaries…high end, drugstore, mid-range, indie, even dollar store. Hard to think of something I’ve been using forever. I’ve used Maybelline Fit Me foundation for a while, even though my skin tone has changed so I’ve changed shades. And I often go back to L’Oreal Voluminous mascara. Right now, I’m more into longer, darker, but less thick lashes. But I’m using the white Vouminous primer first before using a more natural looking mascara. And, as I mentioned earlier in a reply to someone else’s comment, Vaseline is the thing I’ve used most. With my sensitive eyes, it takes off makeup with zero irritation. I’m still using my Revlon Nearly Naked powder too. It was recently discontinued but I picked one up on clearance. And for about a year and a half now I’ve been using the same Cargo reverse lip liner in shade 01. That thing is awesome and I just can’t kill it.
The only things I’ve used for decades is Ponds cold cream and Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks! I fell in love with Milani Lipsticks about 5 years ago. I got into NYX products right before that.
Mac lip liners.
Obscure brand… but Tigi Bed Head Dumb Blonde lipgloss is something that I’ve repurchased for 15 years! It’s the stickiest gloss you’ll ever use and it’s so thick, I love it because it stays put and makes your lips look like they’re drenched
L’Oreal Color Riche lipstick in Mica. I have had a tube of this lipstick in my possession continuously since I was 16 years old. That’s almost 30 YEARS of CONTINUITY. I have literally NEVER thrown one away until I had a replacement. Sometimes when I was young and poor that bullet would get mighty low, you’d be surprised how far down into the plastic you can scrape product….or you could. I fortunately haven’t had to do that in awhile but I’m not above it should I need to again tho! It’s never trendy but it’s never out out of style and it’s impossible to describe because I’ve never seen another shade like it and somehow it looks different depending on who’s wearing it, Mica may they continue to make you for at LEAST 30 more years!!
Blush always since senior year in high school still the most deoendant on. Now I also adore a bit of bronzer. Makes all the difference on a pale face besides mascara.
Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream, Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, Benefit Lemon Aid and Laura Geller Balance and Brighten.
Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara and Coty Airspun Face Powder. Also, I was feeling a bit nostalgic a few years ago and I bought a bottle of Jontue at one of the drugstores. It was one of those perfumes I wore in highschool in the ’80s. I just wanted to check it out again.
I switched between Jontue, Enjoli, and Gloria Vanderbilt during the 80’s!
I I have used Benefit Dr. Feelgood off and on for 20 yrs. But for 32 yrs, I have consistently used Clinique unscented roll-on deodorant. Not a single day without.
Too faced shadow insurance, Estee Lauder advanced night repair.
Awesome question 🙂
Eyeshadow: I’ve been buying MAC Nylon for about THIRTY YEARS and still use it E.V.E.R.Y.D.A.Y. to highlight my inner corners. Can’t picture my life without this one!
Mascara and foundation: Used Shiseido for ages. Then switched to L’Oreal (Double-Extend and True Match) many years ago. I’ll use them to the grave!
Lipstick: Chanel was always my favourite and still is, even though they discontinued my beloved Aqualumière Santa Barbara.
Makeup remover: Cetaphil cleanser has been my one and only face & eye makeup remover for 15 years, eversince my dermatologist recommended it to me.
Aveda shampoo and conditioner as well as some skincare staples
Likely one of the Paula’s Choice BHA or AHA body moisturizers — I started using the original formula so many years ago! Haven’t stopped since. It’s possible I’ve been using MAC’s paint pots longer (Quite Natural, Groundwork), but I genuinely can’t remember when I started using them, just “a long time ago.”
I have a couple MAC eyeshadows that are older, but I don’t think I’ve used any of them in the last … maybe … 6 months or so?
Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream and Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisture Balm.
1. Jordana Lip Liners (Coco Loco is the perfect brown liner for WOC)
2. Lancome Teint Idole
3. Philosophy Purity
4. MAC Pro Long Wear Concealer
Lush and Body Shop body products.
Maybelline mascara.
Clinique moisturizer.
Coty Airspun Translucent Powder – started to use in high school. Love the airbrushed effect it seems to have on my skin as a finishing powder!
Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation and Advanced Night Repair. Have used both faithfully for over 15 years!
Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Cream (5 years), Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden (4 years), Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (3 years). I’ve been wearing makeup for 8 years now but definitely don’t use any of the products I started out using (though I still have some for sentimental reasons)!
