Everything! 1) Ability to express my mood -bold, shy, dramatic, natural 2) Fun playing with colors 3) Makes me look and feel better
(1) For me, as I’m still a beginner.. I love that there’s such vast room for improvement and growth for makeup skills!
(2) Creativity / just fooling around…
(3) Transformation. I like how I can transform my face with it. It’s trippy.
1) Artistic outlet and constantly improving your skill!
2) Wakes me up in the morning and prepares me to conquer the day by feeling fierce
3) The never-ending search for the best products and expanding your collection i.e. hoarding
*doing someone’s makeup for them (at their request) and seeing the look on their face when they see themselves when I’ve finished. I always show them the product and explain what I’m going to do and really try and build trust during the process and seeing them see themselves in a new way is always pretty great.
*finding an awesome new product, something that just ticks all the boxes and makes me go “Yeah, this is good, I like this!”
*seeing someone else use a product in a way I haven’t thought of or learning a new technique, even something as simple as watching someone else apply mascara in a different way and it’s like a lightbulb turning on… oooh, that WORKS.
🙂
1- It allows me a creative outlet even while I have limited mobility
2- I get to embrace my more “feminine” side and in the process battle internalized sexism
3- I majored in History & Anthropology, and the history and cultural background of makeup is FASCINATING! Seriously, there are so many books and scholarly articles and museum exhibits it’s amazing. If you’re interested in that sort of thing, there is so much available to explore!
Lisa Eldridge is coming out with a book this fall. Can’t wait!
1. the creativity
2. the way to express yourself
3. the empowering feeling you get while using it
1. It makes me happy.
2. The fancier the packaging is, the happier I am.
3. Art.
1. It lets my creative side out of the box! ( My creative side can be *far* outside of many boxes!)
2. Always some new color or a new innovation or invention! So it gives me something fun to look forward to discovering!
3. I find it very soothing and calming to go into my own little makeup world to escape the stress and worry that just comes with this thing called “life”.
1- It gives me a more youthful and attractive look
2- I get to see myself in different colours
3- I feel pampered
1. It lets you express different moods/personas creatively.
2. It’s a cheaper addiction than clothes/shoes.
3. It always fits!
WORD.
Makeup is very pretty.. On a rough day, reading and looking at it whether on the blog or the real thing is very relaxing for me. It soothes me. There are no words or actions to affect my thinking. My mind is constantly thinking about something. It may not be yoga, exercise or reading the bible, but looking at makeup has a different kind of reflection for me. It is more than putting on the makeup in the face.
I have been in awe with makeup for a long time. I do not have an insane amount of makeup, bug I have a good collection. I think, most at all….wearing makeup can bring out the confidence in one-self. So does a lot of things, but is can see transformation in myselfnd in others.
1. I look better with it than without it.
2. I enjoy just about every aspect – applying it, wearing it, “playing” with it
3. No matter how sick I look or how crummy I look, a great shade of lippie will always make me look at least 50% better.
1: Correcting things I dislike–acne and scarring, heavily hooded eyes, slimming down my chipmunk cheeks a bit, etc…
2: It’s about the only creative thing I can do! When you’re no good at traditional arts and crafts, you have to find another outlet.
3: It’s just so pretty, with all the colors, formulas, and sometimes packaging. (I just enjoy playing with it all, even if I’m just swatching it up and down my arms!)
1.-The way it enhances beauty 2.-The amazing color ranges we have now, that flatter every skin tone 3.- The confidence it gives you
I love how it can make you feel more confident and more beautiful.
I love how it can transform you and allows you to be whoever you want to be.
I love how it can help you hide your insecurities and bring out your best assets.
I’ll say the same stuff Captain Obvious would say, but here I go:
1) It allows to bring your best features forward and take the attention away from, improve those that are not the best.
2) The choice and the possibilities nowadays are only limited by your budget and it is a great and fun adventure trying to find products that are almost perfect in what they are meant to do. The process of looking for it is a quest and the satisfaction of actually finding something that truly enchances your look is like acomplishing a goal 🙂 Am I being a bit over dramatic here?
3) The presentation. I love how much thought and care many companies put into the packaging and presenting a product itself. So creative and there is such a variety that not only do you end up with a good product, but also just looking at it makes you feel better 🙂
1) The confidence it gives me! I know no one should feel like they “have” to wear makeup (etc etc), but I have a pretty common medical condition that leaves me with painful zits/cysts/sores on my face. I feel like makeup allows people to look past my disease and see me instead.
2) Color! I’m pale and basically colorless (other than really pigmented lips; and although I acknowledge that dark plum-mauve is a perfectly fine color, sometimes it gets boring). I like being able to add other colors to my face in a way that is pleasing and fun and interesting. : )
3) Application. For me, the actual process of applying makeup is enjoyable and meditative (much like painting used to be for me, when I had the proper space and ventilation for it).
1. Making a mini piece of art everyday
2. Exploring new products
3. Collecting beautiful colors in a useful way
1. Artistry and creativity.
2. Makes me feel confident, beautiful, and the right lip colour can make you feel downright fierce!
3. The marketing side of it. I’m really interested in things like claims (one reason I love Temptalia – you hold brands to their claims!), campaigns, ads, promo images, even the products themselves. Especially how diversity is represented and the message they are sending us with all this. I’ve actually been contemplating creating a blog on this, to organise my own thoughts!
My three things are a bit more superficial .. lol
1. Covers my imperfections, making my skin look pretty darn good.
2. Makes me look alive.
3, Makes me look and feel like I care about myself.
M.
1) Colors!
2) You never stop learning and discovering new things.
3) Applying makeup is really fun and relaxing. I also enjoy drawing and painting, but makeup is just as interesting and less ambitious (at least in my case, because I don’t intend to become a makeup artist).
Um….
Textures
Colors
Creative expression
1. Feeling more confident about my ruddy complexion and acne
2. Looking like a fantasy character when i get more creative with it
3. I really notice colors more often, not just with makeup but in my daily life. I never cared for flowers or paintings before getting to make up but now I will notice the lilacs interspersed with marigolds on someone’s yard and just think yes yes yes yes I’m putting that on my face today.
1) The artistry: The power to be creative and transform. 2) The colors!!! 3) It makes me happy.
I love the selection of it all – there’s something for everyone to be creative! It’s actually kind of daunting to think of the hours put into everything.
I love collecting, haha, and trying things out for myself!
I love the community it creates! 🙂
1. Makeup is so much fun! Finding, buying, experimenting.
2. When my complexion is a bit dull, makeup gives me a healthy glow!
3. Just wearing pretty makeup makes me feel wonderful even when the inside doesn’t feel
so wonderful. How lucky can we get?
The creativity, the transformative power, and the confidence it can give you.
1. The creativity!
2. The colors! – I’m an eyeshadowaholic
3. The abiity to change how you look. I have tiny eyes, but I’ve learned to use makeup to make them appear much bigger.
My view on makeup is fairly existential… It simply completes the overall “look”, and is an extension of whatever my outfit is on any given day. I don’t feel any less confident, nor do I feel more beautiful. However, I won’t make an effort to dress to the nines, and then leave my face blank, very much the same way I wouldn’t toss on a t-shirt & leggings while rocking an intense cut crease.
the creativity of it – creating something better from what was
the fun of it – i feel like a kid with new crayons
the self-confidence it gives: i always feel better with makeup
1. Color, texture, and finishes. It’s like looking at jewelry and paint rolled right into one. 2. Transformation. 3. Creative Expression
1) confidence
2) creativity
3) my Zen-time
The massive endless amount of colors, formulas, and textures! The artistry! The beauty they bring uniquely to all in some way; everyone’s lives are enriched by it somehow, something they’ve seen a photo of, anything, can be traced back to what we now call “makeup.”
1) I like myself better when I look in the mirror.
2) I feel more confident when I have made an effort.
3) I love the femininity, playing with all the colors and pretty packaging.
I love the colors and finishes. I love the amazing changes that can be made. I made my six year old sister look like an old woman, it was a good effort for 16 yr old. Was into drama club at that time. Much to shy to go on stage but love makeup and sets.
I just love the entire process.
Only 3 things?
1. Makeup adds colour to my face – I would look washed up and ancient without it
2. It makes me feel more confident when I use different colours to create looks.
3. I enjoy learning more about what products to use, when and how to use them. I love connecting to the online beauty community such as this blog. I have learnt so much from you Christine!
I love that makeup is an art. beautiful things can be created just like a painter with her brush. I love all the various pigments and the experimentation involved. There is always a tip, hack, asvice , and products I can learn to use/do. To sum it all up; makeup is an Art, a science, and an education all wrapped in one.
1. Being able to work with my hands.
(I love to sculpt, but it’s not a sell-able skill in the modern work world)
2. Just being able to play with the products, colors, and different formula.
3. Not having to worry about doing it right the first time or fast enough.
(As a Graphic designer your more like a graphic machine the way you work. Fast and Perfect because your client want this yesterday because they didn’t know until 3 hours ago that they need it. >_< lol )
1) The ability to express just that little bit of creativity every day!
2) Self confidence/self awareness. I started really getting into makeup at a really bad point in my life, and makeup gave me that degree of control. I couldn’t control what was happening in my life, but I could do something to at least make myself feel prettier and just a bit more confident. Now, I think because of that, I have a lot more love and respect for myself, with and without makeup.
3) Definitely the people I’ve met! I’ve talked to interesting people from all over the world through makeup forums and blogs, and at stores as well!
1 – Confidence
2 – Different colours and finishes! I love just swatching my own products or reading reviews of products I don’t and will never have.
3 – Seeing the ways people can express themselves by using makeup
so many !! but 3…all the color choices ( which can get confusing ) all the looks you can create or attempt, & i love applying i really enjoy the application process 🙂
The Three Things I Love About Makeup…
I.) The power of transformation: One can transform from ordinary to something extraordinary.
II.) Unlimited Creativity: There are no rules. Rules are made to be broken. That’s when trends start.
III.) Having Fun! : No one can’t stop you from experimenting and testing looks that work on you.
Little late getting to this, sorry – bad week! There is so much about makeup I love that I don’t know where to begin.
1. Definitely the creative aspect. I call my face my handy dandy mobile canvas…and treat it like that as well. Nothing more exciting to sit down with a bunch of colors and…not to snag the Army expression…but be all I can be.
2. Although it is a staple in my life…my makeup still represents a sort of luxury to me. While I could easily take it for granted, opening all the little bottles, jars, cases…it’s still like Christmas morning for a 5 year old.
3. This was the hardest one…there were SO many contenders for the top favorite reasons. It’s almost therapeutic to me – I do it to relax me. It soothes my anxiety, it soothes bad moods, it calms me down and makes me feel really good.
4. I don’t know if anyone else does this – probably not because I’m weird – but I use my makeup to set my mood…if that makes sense. I’m lousy at fighting (arguments – not violence) I wear dark bold colors like reds, dark purples, harsh colors that make me feel stronger. If anyone has ever taken a drama class, they most likely know how to step back for a moment, breathe in, and get into character…my makeup does that for me. If I want to feel girlish I wear more pinks and pastels and it makes me feel a little…giddy, maybe. If I need professionalism…my makeup is going to be top notch, not overdone, not underdone. It helps me step into a situation I’m not normally comfortable in, it sets my mind to whatever I’m going into. Weird, yeah, I know.
