What are three limited edition products you don't want to run out of?

You might expect me to speak of a certain Pat McGrath palette, but one, I do have a backup (to my shame) and second, I don’t know if it’s possible for ME to ever finish an eyeshadow palette before it’s ready to crumble into dazzling dust anyway!! So, I’d rather give you three picks of mine that are more possible! ?

Urban Decay Rebel lipstick — one of the prettiest, shimmery mauves with great wear. Dose of Colors Bathe is just that perfect mix of rosy copper and sheen. Urban Decay Honey Eyeliner, which I should probably STOP using since it’s pretty old at this point 🙁

Marc Jacobs Topaz Flash eyeshadow (the potted one, not liquid); I love all manner of taupe eyeshadows, and when it’s a glittery one, that’s even better!
Dose of Colors Fuego, which is my favorite shade of gold on my skin tone.
Dose of Colors Friendcation palette, SOLELY because of the shades A Moment and Just A Kiss. I actually bought a backup palette (so I share in your shame, Christine!), but I’m praying that the brand will read my mind and release those two shades as singles.

Only 3??? Okay, MAC Sweet Sentiment Blush, Tarte Barefoot eyeshadow (it was in the Tarte for Aqualillies palette years ago) and Sephora Snakeskin Dress liner (and the eyeshadow too, if I can slip that in) – these weren’t strictly “LE”; they were discontinued but it amounts to the same thing. Oh, speaking of “discontinued”, I added a wonderful loose foundation powder from Laura Mercier to the “Recommendations” list that just appeared and now I see that wonderful product has been discontinued, not just at Sephora but by the company! GRRRR!

I try not to buy LE products, so the only one I can think of that I don’t want to run out of is ColourPop’s Fame Palette. On a similar note, Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lipstick in Boudoir is one of my favorite lipsticks and it was discontinued, so I am really sad that I’ll eventually use it up.

Pat McGrath’s Sublime Bronze Temptation palette, specifically the color Provacatrix. I really like 5 out of the 6 colors in it. Provacatrix is my absolute favorite. I don’t have a backup.
MAC Wash and Dry Steam Heat
There really isn’t a third. Revlon had a lipstick shade I loved in the 90’s called Exotica. I wonder If it would still work on me. I’d probably scoop one up if it came back.

I absolutely loved Revlon Exotica! It’s actually one of the lipsticks I’ve held onto to see if I can find a dupe… It was the perfect “vampy” lip, but also “conservative” enough to wear every day… O should probably pull it out and compare it to what I currently have in my stash…

I have an original release of MAC’s Lavender Whip which still smells okay and I use during the summer when I have a bit of a tan. It will be a sad day when this is gone/turns rancid.

I have several backups of Tarina Tarantino’s Spark of Envy eyeliner. Amen to that!

MAC’s Blue Absinthe eyeshadow. I use this so sparingly.

There’s something to be said for the older MAC formulations. They seem to last while a lot of the newer stuff degrades within a few years.

Probably MAC Amor Prohibido lipstick from the 1st Selena collection. It’s probably not all that unique. Another warm nude but I love it and have a back up, which I rarely do. Plus, it’s Selena!

Chanel Bronzer Tan de Chanel. Not technically LE nor is it discontinued but it’s been reformulated and not for the better. It will probably go bad before I use it up but I’m sad I will never be able to get this product again!

And I know she is “she who must not be named” but KVD Saint and Sinner for the shades Heaven, Sacred Heart and Chalice specifically. I don’t buy too much LE but I still think this was a well conceived, great performing palette. A shame that an owner can drive her brand into the ground in a very short amount of time lol

Claire Avatar

I love the Saint and Sinner palette too. I don’t buy too much LE and I know a lot of people had mixed feelings on the palette – and it is such a shame that she has caused a crash and burn- but there are some really beautiful and unique shades in this palette!

I have a selection of discontinued products that I’m hanging onto because I didn’t realize they were going to cease production on them and they’re amazing.

I try not to buy products marked as limited edition for the express purpose that I might fall in love and then be boned when they are go away, but I fell for the EOS microbatch hype and bought multiples of their Vampire Kiss. That formula is God awful and now I’m stuck with them.

My one and only is Colourpop’s Horse and Carriage. When I saw it go on discount on their site, I had to get a second one. It truly is a very unique and versatile product for me, and it would be in my top two highlighters. Unlike Amrezy (my #1), I’ve never found something quite like H&C’s color, so into the stash it goes!

Only three?? My favourites would include:

1 Dior’s Bonne Etoile quint – I just love all the shades for both summer (the mint and teal shade) and autumn (the olive green and olive brown shades)

2. Lorac’s Pro Metal palette – I already have a backup for this one. It has all the beautiful gold, rose gold, green and blue shades that I love in one perfect palette.

3. CP’s Lux lipstick in Foolish. This shade of orange/red goes with just about everything I wear. Gallop, Tea Thyme and LA Lady are other staples in the range.

Honourable Mention would go to L’Oreal’s True Match foundation in porcelain rose. It’s very hard to get a DS foundation this good that has pink undertones in its fairest shade.

I really love when MAC launches warm nude lipsticks. Three I have that I don’t want to run out of is MAC Warm me up lipstick , Soleil Soleil lipstick and Fancied lipstick! Love them so much!

Pearl Avatar

MAC Sunset Pearl Mineralize lipstick- the perfect nude for me. One in use and 1 back up in a makeup fridge.

MAC Viva Glam Rihanna I – I have one in use and 2 back ups. All 3 are kept in the makeup fridge. Absolutely love this red with very slight pearl. I have a close dupe in Pat McGrath Blitztrance Blood Rush. It’s a bit deeper but love it just the same. There’s something about this very faint pearl that takes the edge off of a flat, bold red for me. Both are slightly creamy formulas that don’t feather on me.

Pat McGrath Divine Rose palette but pretty much any eyeshadow (single or palette) she launches. If I’m not wearing it, I’m admiring it on display. I would have also said Sublime, Midnight Sun, Subliminal and Bronze Seduction palettes but they apparently are not limited edition. All 5 are very everyday-wearable for me.

1) I jumped on the Pat McGrath bandwagon right at the start. I do not have any backups of her products, I have enough of her products to last a lifetime I’m sure. If not she will make more!
2) Tony and Tina Sparkle eyeliners were my jam back in the day and when I heard they were going out of business I stocked up on the black/gold, blue/silver, and the plain silver ones. I still have them and use them. There may be a day when I run out!
3) I have a LE Oscar de la Renta Summer perfume that has a little bit left and it smells so beautiful I will be very sad when that is finished.

My secret shame is having 2 backups of Urban Decay Rebel lipstick as well as 1 of their original Rebel backups. I keep them in my old milk chute because my house is old enough to have an old milk chute. I keep all of my many backups in there, and I am so embarrassed to be so neurotic that I have backups of many things that I love that I knew were LE or going to be discontinued. The milk chute is cool, dark, and dry, and I keep a dry sanitizer in there to ensure that nothing can harm my stash. One of my friends who knows about my little secret calls me “Panicked in Detroit” when she rides along with me to brick and mortar stores so I can grab my favorites before they disappear. It seems that many of my favorites become discontinued. I often wonder why my favorites are not the favorites of others. Is my taste that bad or unpopular I wonder?
