What are three cheek products you used to use frequently years ago but rarely use now?

Tom Ford Love Lust (original was discontinued), MAC Margin (haven’t used it in many years but it used to be a daily go-to!), Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Glow (original), which I still really love but rarely reach for.

Clinique Peach Pop, NARS Orgasm and Tarte Exposed. I love all of them. Pull for them occasionally. I just don’t reach for them like I used to. I just tend to get stuck on a few shades, tire of them and get stuck on a few new set of shades. Now I’m really obsessed with Clinique Nude Pop, Origins Rose Dust and MAC Hushed Tone

Hmm, I don’t think I can name three of them but I used to use the Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Exposed every. single. day. Then I started reaching for a Jouer dual blush palette. Recently I’ve been loving Kosas in Contrachroma. I’ve got a new Patrick Ta cream/powder blush that I’m planning to try next.

Ofra highlighters (rodeo drive, pillow talk) as I prefer more subtle highlights that don’t emphasize texture now and my Jouer/Benefit cheek palettes. I’m obsessed with Peach-C blushes now as I’m a bigger fan of buildable blush.

Clinique Cheek Pops, I loved them but got fed up with the hard pan. Same with Orgasm. MAC Tenderling used to be a standby but it’s a little bit dull, in my 20s it fit in with the matte look but now that I’m in my 30s and dewy is more vogue I need something more “juicy” looking. TheBalm Mary Lou Manizer I used to go ham on that stuff but I hardly ever wear highlighter anymore. All the dewy and luminous products on the market make highlighter unnecessary for me now.

Becca Pearl. I used up the cream and never repurchased and have used up most of the GIANT liquid version but only use it every couple months.

MAC Pink Swoon. I actually love it still and it’s was softer than I remembered but I just recently started using powder blushes again after swearing off them for like two years.

Cover FX Enhancer and Glitter Drops. Still really cute but the light blue Halo enhancer drops don’t actually flatter my skin built up as a cheek highlight so I generally use it occasionally as a very sheer all over wash of eerie glow. The glitter is really really pretty but it’s very fine and dense—like chunky shimmer. I usually like bigger particles when I’m reaching for glitter.

I had to go look at my blushes to see which ones I hadn’t worn in awhile. The three that I haven’t used in forever are Nars Orgasm, Nars Goulie and Tarte Exposed.
I use to wear Nars Orgasm but decided at some point that I didn’t care for it on my skin tone. I should just declutter it because I won’t use it again. Nars Goulie I love and just haven’t worn it. I like it in fall/winter so I moved it to my current makeup bag so that I will wear it again. Tarte Exposed is a shade that I like but after trying a lot of different blushes I don’t love the formula. It isn’t bad enough that I would never wear it again but given that I have better blushes I will likely get rid of this blush. I think the only Tarte blush that I still use on a regular basis is the birthday/holiday blush from Sephora? Can’t remember when it was but it was a very small blush called Paaarty. It isn’t anything super special in terms of formula and the shade is not special either but something about it makes it very wearable as an everyday blush and goes well with a lot of the makeup I wear.

Probably my first three blushes – NARS Orgasm, Tarte Exposed, and Urban Decay Rapture.

Still love them (I’ve gone through four or five of the NARS, two of the Tarte, and I’m still utterly bitter about UD discontinuing the Afterglow 8-hour blush formula and their failure to come out with anything even remotely comparable to it). But I never really “got” blush when I was younger. I never really understood the point having different colored blushes and often didn’t even wear blush. So Orgasm was my one and only blush for the longest time and I got Exposed when I saw it touted as the “universal” blush that goes with everything (it’s not my favorite blush in the world, but it certainly is a good blush for those days when I can’t be bothered to figure out what goes with the rest of my makeup or outfit). It wasn’t until about five years ago with the UD Afterglow blushes that I really started to see blush in a different light and picked up a few more (Rapture, Bittersweet, and Quickie). Now my blush collection has grown exponentially and even my go-to go-with-nearly-everything blushes have shifted a bit (MAC Cosmic Force, Clinique Heather Pop, and MAC Into the Pink when I want more sparkle in my life).

Into the Pink is such a pretty shade and I love the finish of those ED blushes. You’re not alone in your bitterness over the UD Afterglow blushes (and their highlighters) being discontinued “just like that”. They were so fantastic that it boggles the mind that the company would just get rid of them like that.

Becca Pearl and Moonstone Pressed Highlighters – too luminous for my tastes lately. I’ve been using MAC Emphasize with a spot of Chanel Eclat du Desert or just using Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Highlight 101.

Tom Ford Bronzers – I have been using Fenty these days. I like the undertones better. TF feels like it’s too orange. I might de-clutter. I was trying to pan them but have lost interest. I love the Fenty formula and shade range. It makes Tom Ford and other bronzers of old look very one-note.

MAC matte or satin blushes – I really like using the recent Glow Play as a base and then popping a little bit of a Mineralize blush on top.

Hmmm – I have to think now. My blushes are always the same shade, but different brands. I used to use Clarin’s blush in soft peach – but it really didn’t last that long on my face. I liked the mosaic shades of Natio’s Sunkissed blush too, but I don’t use it now either. That’s about it.

I used to love NARS Orgasm but the last one I purchased about a year ago was terrible. Very hard and dry in the pan and hard to pick up. I also used to wear NARS Laguna bronzer but prefer the Hourglass powders and shades. I mainly use Hourglass and Natasha Denona cheek products now. I loved the Stila water colour liquid blushes but sadly they don’t make them anymore. The Fenty cream blushes are the ones I’ve found that perform the closest to the Stila water colours.

Colourpop’s Fun with Friends, it was limited edition, Tarte’s Tipsy, Laura Geller’s Tropic Hues, which I still love, but I’m wearing very minimal makeup with combination of warm weather and wearing a mask everyday!

ShariP Avatar

I can only think of Lancome Cedar Rose blush. It was my one and only go too for many years. I didn’t use bronzer or highlighter then. And then I stumbled into my first Sephora and haven’t looked back. I still mainly use one blush and one highlighter, but I have several other options if I want to do something different.

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Raspberry- Sadly, BB discontinued this shade & only makes 3 shades in this formula now. This was my favorite creme blush, easy to apply & lasts all day!
Nars Orgasm – replaced with Milani Luminoso, much prefer Milani’s baked formula to Nars’ pressed formula as it applies better. Dolce Pink is Milani’s slightly cooler version of Orgasm if that’s what you are looking for.
Catrice Defining blush in Sunrose Avenue – My fave dusty rose blush with a slight glow. Discontinued (sadsies.)

Now that you mention it, I used to use OCC’s Crème Colour Concentrate in John Doe to contour. Can’t remember the last time I used it…the jar was a bit fiddly to stick a brush into. There are also a couple of NYX’s powder blushes (the pre-L’Oréal ones with the pyramid pattern) I don’t really touch, although the name of one of them is still perfect—Bourgeois Pig.

A week or so ago, I would have been on the NARS Orgasm train, but I dug it out and started using it again. I thought it would be unusable but it did work. I should get a new one as I’m afraid to even think of how old mine is.
I do have others I’ve not used in ages, I should make an effort to see if they still work as intended, if I still like them and do a bit of de-cluttering, something I find extremely hard to do, always thinking, I’ll actually use the whatever I’m holding. (I have GWP lipsticks that I may have used once and are still with me, years later, because maybe I’ll want to use one of them tomorrow 😛 )
