Marc Jacobs Highliners have an exceptionally long-wearing range AND a more unique color selection (not all are unique).

For skincare, Peter Thomas Roth Firmx Peeling Gel – you clean your face, apply a layer of gel, then rub it off, and rolls of dead skin will slough off instantly. You can see the rolls falling off –it’s gross but works, and only takes about 1-2 minutes. My skin looks so much brighter and smoother all week. It’s like micro-dermabrasion in a bottle. I’ve been using it 1-2 times a week for 3 years now, and it’s HG for me.
Boscia has one like this, too! Sephora had given me a sample of it, and WOW, the results were amazing! Like brand new skin, but the dead skin part did look nasty, LoL. So I think I’m going to get it, even though I cannot remember it’s full name.
Thanks Nancy, good to know! You never know if something will be discontinued, so it’s good to have dupes. I did some googling, and I think it’s called the Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel
Thanks for finding out its name, at least now when I ask for it they’ll know what I’m talking about!
Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara with its “swan neck” angled wand has a very unique shape.
I think the Clinique Cheek Pops and Chanel Creme Blushes perform really well better than any other cream blush that I have tried. Not unique but just well performing!
At the moment it’s MAC MSF Natural to set liquid foundation, BB cream or tinted moisturizer. No other powder gives such a beautiful finish for my skin without being cakey or noticeable. Holy grail 100%.
Clinique pop lip colors (I only tried Plum though) feel sooo good on the lips, haven’t experienced anything more comfortable, although NARS lipsticks come close.
Honorable mention goes to MAC Pro Longwear concealer. Tried soo many. Currently using NARS creamy concealer, but, although it goes on soo beautifully from the start, I still get some issues with creasing later (maybe s/o knows some tricks, apart from setting it with powder, cause I tried that), whether with the Pro Longwear I just put it on and forgot about it till the end of the day. Something needs to be done with the packaging though.
Honestly, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is a decent concealer but does not work under the eyes. I like the Naked Concealer a LOT better.
Natalia – I know you said any tricks other than setting with powder. The only powder I’ve found that works to set the NARS Creamy concealer w/o creasing is NARS Loose Light Reflecting Powder.
You know why I keep going back to my MSF Natrual in Lght because it doesn’t look dry on the skin for a pressed powder (Nyx Stay Matte but not Flat and the new Urban Decay pressed foundation has a similar buttery texture). And YES!!! MAC Pro Longwear concealer, that product lasts through anything, but again that pump is just too much. I can do my whole face with it. lol
Truly unique? I am not sure… what makes a product unique, right? I’m gonna have to think about this some more, lol.
I’m not sure any product is truly unique as there are so many knockoffs – you know?
Christine I have a question. I love my highliner for longevity and color but once I used it the tip became dull and now it’s only good for the waterline or it gets messy and the application isn’t precise. Any tips?
There’s a sharpener on the other side.
The Dr Jart BB Mate Contouring 1.2.3 Kit is unique and it works great for me. I haven’t purchased it yet (I received two samples) but I’m seriously thinking about it. It definitely isn’t made for everyone as the shades are quite light. I’m trying to figure out a dupe for it but it’s not easy to find a light enough color for a highlight or a contour shade that won’t look orange or yellow on me. I really only want two of the three shades, and I also hate the thought of not being able to use all of the product due to the container.
The new Dior Addict Fluid Shadows are also unique and beautiful. However, they are too much of a pain to work with and the red one, Destinée, stains your skin. =(
I have a few:
1. Wet N Wild lipsticks…Vamp It Up has to be of my all time favorites from them.
2. Milani Liquif’eye Eye Liners…None of my other eyeliner even compare. These stay there until you’re ready to take them off. Especially the black one. It makes Urban Decay Perversion look like a joke.
3. Aqua Beauty Balm by KISS New York…This may be a beauty supple store BB cream, but it perform just as well if not better than my Lancome Teint Idole. I know that’s a crazy claim, but it’s true.
I’m sure that I’ll think of more after I post this…lol
Ooh, I need to check out those Milani eyeliners! I think you’re the 2nd person to mention those this week
They don’t think they make them anymore, so I get mine in bulk from Amazon or eBay. I also purchased a few a while back in the Dollar Tree. When I do find them for a good price, I rack up. Christine also did a review on them a few years ago.

I found some Liquif’ eye eyeliners on the CVS website, but it doesn’t mention metallic, so maybe those are non-metallic shades ? I hope it’s the same formula
They all say metallic, including the black one. But the black one isn’t metallic. It’s weird. Lol
Ok, thanks for checking! I’ll give them a try, and if they don’t work, I can return to CVS. If they do work, I’ll let you know.
I’ve only seen a review about them last night, but the Stila Aqua Liquid Blush (i think that’s what they’re called!) the texture, packaging, idea seems really new. I know there’s other cream/liquid blushes, but this one seems different. The color range could be expanded a bit, but seeing as how they launched recently, I’m not surprised there’s only 4 colors.
Can’t wait to get my hands on one!
Cover FX Custom Cover Drops 😀 they’ve been a game-changer for me!
They are interesting, I get the most perfect shade mixing them with MUFE green primer as well. *_*
Ditto. I have a few shades and use them as a mixing medium to tweak my foundations to perfect.
Femme Fatale duochrome eyeshadows are possibly the best I’ve ever seen, especially the gemtone collection. I really wish more mainstream brands would get more into duochromes. I’d love to see what different brands come up with.
The NYX Macaron & Wicked lippies…I was pretty sure I was done collecting lipsticks until I discovered GREEN lipstick…haha.
I think the Urban Decay Vice palettes & some of their older palettes are unique for having a wide range of quality brights and neutrals in one palette for a superb price. I wait all year to blow my money on their holiday palettes. 🙂
A new product for me, but probably Illamasqua’s Gel Contour. It’s a really deep shade, but it sheers out to a perfect contour shade on my fair skin. And I imagine it’s one of few base products that truly fits all skintones!
Armani Eye Tints! There’s definitely a learning curve to applying them (at least for me), but with the right tools oh so beautiful! There’re a lot of other cream/liquid eyeshadow formulas out there, but Armani’s formula is truely unique.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders.
The formulation of Nars Audacious Lipsticks.
MAC Cream Color Base in Luna and Pearl as highlighters.
A few things come to mind;
1.Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara because it (as well as L’Oreal Butterfly mascara) seem to be designed after some of the Japanese brands of mascaras. The wand being a comb type w/ a hard brush, as well as the formula REALLY holding a curl all the way to when I remove my makeup, sometimes 16 hours later! Love it, although there was quite the learning curve those first few times!
2. The ColourPop eyeshadows and cheek products. Just WOW. Again a learning curve, but once I got it down pat, I really love the odd creamy-to-powder formula, and that they offer some really unusual shades that I had never seen before!
3. Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel Cream moisturizer is the BOMB!!! Non greasy, but ultra moisturizing, and yes, plumps my skin, making fine lines less much noticeable.
4. Boscia has a face peel that is described very well by Katherine T’s comment on a different brand’s face peel by PTR, this one, who’s full product name I no longer remember or have the little Sephora sample name for, worked fabulously to get rid of that first layer thereby revealing fresh, new, refined skin!
Ooh, I need to try that Maybelline mascara, as my lashes don’t hold curl very well, and I definitely need a waterproof formula. I’m with you on the Colour Pop shadows and blushes – a real game changer for my oily lids and teflon cheeks.
ColourPop’s hybrid formula is one I haven’t seen anywhere else. Eslor Firming Collagen Day Cream – Unique in that it actually works, and quickly. City Cosmetics City Lips Advanced – it’s a plumping gloss with collagen instead of irritants such as cinnamon oil. It works quickly, and you can also use it overnight as a treatment. Nyx Wicked Lippie in Trickery — I have yet to find another olive green lipstick. It’s one of my all time favorite lipsticks now.
I don’t own them, but the new Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush and Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector look unique, based on the reviews I’ve seen.
The Paula’s Choice BHA exfoliants really stand out to me. It’s hard to find a well-formulated BHA product that isn’t super-expensive.
The Too Faced #NoFilter Selfie Powders! Such an innvative product.
To be honest, I have tried many makeup products that were very underwhelming or even terrible. However, I have never tried any makeup product, high or low end that I found to be something that I thought was “over the moon” , UNIQUE or something I could not live without. There is so much hype about makeup, I think we start believing everything the cosmetic companies tell us about them before they even hit the market. We also get stuck on brands whose high prices or word of mouth hype causes us to believe we have to have every product in that line. MAC, Bobbi Brown and Chanel are three that come quickly to mind. I’ve tried Bobbi Brown lipsticks and blushes and thought they were among some of the worst products I ever tried. I broke down and bought a bottle of Chanel nail lacquer, used it one time and went back to me China Glaze. MAC lipsticks dry my lips out terribly. When I find something truly “UNIQUE”, I’ll probably have to buy a dozen!
Colourpop eyeshadows! Those suckers have the coolest formula.
ColourPop! A new, and unique brand for sure. They’ve been the highlight of my makeup purchases this year!
Also Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders and the Laniege BB cushion. Love!
I would have to say Guerlain’s Les Gris eye shadow palette is the best one by far for blues. All the shadows in the quad work really well together and the formula is perfect. I should have added it to my comments on a previous question about what one product would you like to have forever. Quite often the blues in palette are the poorest performing, but this palette is the best.
Secondly I would suggest Milani’s Colour statement lipsticks and Maybelline’s Colour Sensational lipsticks are winners.
OCC lip tars. I’ve tried the dupes, but there is nothing quite like them in term of pigmentation and wear.
Hourglass ambient lighting powder in diffused light!! Does anyone have cheaper alternatives? Or even not cheaper
1) Neostrata Body Smoothing Lotion (10% Glycolic acid body lotion. No other exfoliation required!)
2) E.L.F. Exfoliating makeup wipes. One side is textured.
3) Olivier “Baby Bum Cream”. I use it on my face as night cream! Soothing and moisturizing. Not a zinc based cream, btw! https://www.oliviersoaps.com/our-products/natural-creams-lotions/my-baby-cream
Guerlain Meterorites are amazing as a finish to even out the complexion and makeup. I like the lip “paints” that I’ve tried for their longevity. Many of the advertisers I’ve tried are miracles in reducing the visible lines, pores, and defects.
benefit’s, too faced, for adorable packaging, indie company eye shadow pigments i have used some truly unique colors ! & high quality 🙂 korean brands super cute , so much to name lol !
mufe artist gel to powder eyeshadows!
i love everythig about them: texture, colour range, pigmentation
i think they’re the best find this year and i never thought i’d love sparkly eyeshadow so much before i met their diamond finish
Benefit Gimme Brow – I have seen some copycats recently but there is nothing that works as well
Makeup Geek foiled shadows – you just have to try them to see why they are different
Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer – took a while to figure out how to use it but once you accept the fact that it’s niether a concealer nor a foundation, it is just becomes an awesome product you can’t live without
Beautyblender – I use it every day and wonder what I did before it was invented
Suqqu blush brush – just needed to add that in because I can’t live without it now
Back in the day Dior did this tube of thick oil or gloss (Maybe differently packaged lipgloss?) and you were supposed to twist out a bead of it and perch it at the tip of your eyelashes like little gems. I bought the Revlon dupe many years ago when they had some really cool, off-the-wall products for a specific holiday line and I loved any excuse to use it. You can get the same effect with any clear gloss that comes in a twist-tube with a brush like the Stila glosses, so that’s a nifty bonus.
Truly unique? I honestly can’t can’t think of much sans newer mascara wand designs like Benefit and NARS.
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation….. literally makes my face so angelic and glowing.
Sleek Rose Gold Blush….. the color in general is so unique and looks so gorgeous on my face, received numerous of compliments.
Nars Tribulation Blush….. one of the best highlighters in the entire world, gold mixed with silver and peach, it’s to die for..
