Wet 'n' Wild I Don't Do Camouflage Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio Review, Photos, Swatches
Wet ‘n’ Wild I Don’t Do Camouflage Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio
Wet ‘n’ Wild I Don’t Do Camouflage Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) is one of four new–and limited edition–Color Icon Eyeshadow Trios for fall. According to the brand, each trio features “highly pigmented shades” with a variety of finishes and pre-packaged with a tube of Mega Protein Mascara as a bonus. The trio will be available at local drugstores (not online as far as I know), though I haven’t spotted any displays near me yet (but I never seem to catch them!). I’m afraid that this trio is a major miss for me, once again. I had fingers and toes crossed for a return to pigmentation, but all three shades were lacking in quality. The eyelid shade had promising pigmentation, but the powdery texture was worrisome and ultimately was its downfall. I tried these on bare lids (about two to three hours of wear), with eyeshadow primer (NARS and Urban Decay) (four to five hours of wear), and then over NYX’s Milk (creamy white) and nothing was working. Even over what is typically the saving grace of most pitiful eyeshadows, it was faded, patchy, and uneven within three hours (and then almost gone entirely by the sixth hour).
I hope to review the other trios soon, but as a heads up, I’m not sure I will be reviewing any additional releases of the Color Icon Eyeshadow formula unless there is a drastic improvement. At this point, I think it’s clear that there is something different about the recent iterations of the formula compared to the previous (as well as what’s permanently available).
I Don’t Do Camouflage #1 is a pale, cool-toned blue with hints of purple and an icy silver shimmer. The texture was very powdery, and as a result, the color payoff was semi-sheer. This shade gave me the most trouble in the palette, as it was prone to blending away to nothing when applied to the lid. CoverGirl Ice Flame is a cream product. MAC Water & Ice is more frosted, more silver. MAC Bright Moon is darker. See comparison swatches.
I Don’t Do Camouflage #2 is a blackened navy blue with lighter navy blue satin shimmer. It had so-so color payoff, but the texture was somewhat stiff and dry. I recommend using a stiff brush and jabbing at the surface to dislodge more product before applying. NARS Ubangi is a cream product. Disney Midnight is similar. Urban Decay Occupy is brighter. MAC Waft is darker. MAC Shop & Drop is a bit bluer. bareMinerals Shaken Not Stirred is slightly bluer. Make Up For Ever #147 is similar. See comparison swatches.
I Don’t Do Camouflage #3 is a brightened, medium-dark cornflower blue with a soft, satin shimmer. It had good color payoff, though the texture was somewhat powdery. Uhnfortunately, I had a really tough time trying to pat this and have it stick to the lid, even when I used an eyeshadow primer or NYX Milk, which is a creamy eyeshadow pencil. It had such potential, but the powderiness just ruins it. Sephora My Boyfriend’s Jeans is darker. Sugarpill Velocity is brighter. Urban Decay Chaos is darker, more matte. NARS Rated R #2 is lighter. Sugarpill ROyal Sugar is brighter, more sparkly. See comparison swatches.

Aw I was rooting for this one 🙁 That dark blue looked so nice in the pan!
The recent Wet ‘n Wild trios have really been getting some bad reviews. This one actually looked a bit more promising.
The colors look like they’d be very pretty, but I agree with you they are very disappointing. Not “highly pigmented” at all. It’s a shame that even over primer you still had undesirable results.
I don’t even know why I look at these… I suppose I’m hoping for a score higher than a D every time a new Wet ‘n’ Wild eyeshadow trio is posted. But thanks for reviewing anyway!
I have nearly all of Wet n Wild trios and all of their 8 pan palettes but if I could only keep one, it would be the Enlisted for Beauty trio (it’s the khaki-brown trio from this collection). I love it so much! I’ve reached for it even more often than my Chanel, Urban Decay, the Balm and Mac eyeshadows. You should try it out, Christine.
I’m glad you decided not to waste your time anymore reviewing those trios! Don’t get me wrong, Wn’W Sweet as Candy is my go-to neutral eye palette, but these new releases do not seem to match at all the quality of that one.
Wet n Wild eyeshadows (with an exception of Brulee) will always be a miss for me. Too soft. Too muddy and dirty when blended. Creasing all the time. Just. No.
What’s really sad is WnW has done similar shades to these that have been great (or at least good), so to see such a miss on something I *know* could have been a hit is made all the more disappointing. I really wish *all* makeup brands would stop with these rushed LE products, and simply focus on what they know works… Personally, as a consumer, I’ve pretty much stopped even looking at LE products from most brands, except NARS & UD; it seems since they know their products will be available for a while, and neither is constantly releasing a new on the heels of the last, more effort is put into quality…
That is just sad…but thank you for reviewing and now I can ignore these in the store.
That’s a shame they’ve taken a great product and messed it up. Hopefully they can return to the original formulation.
This *is* the “original” formulation! Sadly, WnW eyeshadows were this bad back in the day…
Nooo Wet ‘n’ Wild, you need your groove back!!!
When I saw the product, I thought it would be good..
But the review is F!!!!
And on your beautiful eyes, they are so weird and not beautiful. oouch!
That’s too bad! The colors look so pretty in the palette.
DEPRESSING! But not shocking, I actually dislike the comfort zone palettes (which are their most decent palettes, i believe) because they are way too soft that it gets on everywhere for me.
Thanks for the reivew =]
Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!
Even though the payoff from these is truly miserable I’m still amazed you can buy an eyeshadow trio with a mascara for $2.99.
I have the brown one from this collection and use the brow bone and crease color daily. if you haven’t tried that one it’s much better
It’s always disappointing when a brand releases poor quality products, especially when they’ve made good products in the past. More quality control please!
