I am sure they are nice brushes but it does seem a bit expensive for 3 brushes, especially when you can get decent spoolie and bristle/comb brushes most places for cheaper. If you want an innovative brush to apply pomade get IT Cosmetics Build-A-Brow Brush #12 as it has a brush to apply the product and a spoolie on the other end.

Are the teeth on that mascara comb plastic??

Anyhoo, I feel like that’s a lot of money for almost nothing. Is there such a thing as a high-grade spoolie?

Lol! I love your question! The spoolie I have is the ugliest brush in my stash that I got as Lancome GWP forever ago. I love it and don’t think it’s possible to upgrade its performance. So, raspberry pink plastic handle in a sea of black is not going to go anywhere for a while.

Haha, love those Lancome gifts! i have a bright pink set of free brushes from them and they’re not half bad! I mean, for being free and all.

My spoolie is the free one they give you at Lush when you buy one of their liquid pigment things.

I snort laughed at high-grade spoolie. While the angle brush looks nice, I wouldn’t bother with the other two (most brow pencils come replete with cheap a$$ spoolie.. I don’t care if it is high grade or not) which makes the set rather steep for the purpose.. One for the price of three. Not.

LOL, no there is totally no such thing as a high-grade spoolie, IMHO πŸ˜‰
There’s high-end spoolies though, which are just regular flippin spoolies in expensive brand-name packaging!

A bit extravagant, I’d say. I already have good quality brow brushes that I got dirt cheap in my super old Mirraq brush set that I bought many years ago. All of them are still in primo condition, too. Except for the blush brush, which after around 4-5 years, came out of the ferrule.

he does not disappoint with his brushes, yes they are pricey, but they are the softest, no shedding, no disturbing my makeup, best brushes i’ve ever used. knocks all the mid-range, and some high end out of the park! hopefully he sells these individually. maybe solo they won’t be as bad, i hope anyway. i don’t see myself using the comb and brush combo.

I 100% agree with everything you said. I got to listen on the conference call and watch his live video with BeautyLish.Com on the debut date. I had no intentions of purchasing mainly because of that 1980’s plastic version with the brush & plastic comb!! No one even sells those anymore and I am sure not even the Dollar Store. He was asked if the brushes will be sold separately and he said not right now. I think he will “break up the set” (his word’s exactly) after all the holiday’s. I ended up getting it and I have to say, just that 1 brush was well worth it, just like all of his other brushes!

These look exactly like the ones you can get at Target for a dollar each brush. I am surprised it mentions an ombre brow as he doesn’t seem to like that trend.

I *knew* the brushes looked familiar, LOL! He has a video about the Beauty Blender where he mentions a lot of brands all use the same product/manufacturer, slap on their own label, and retail across the spectrum. I guess it’s a practice he’s familiar with…

I love Wayne’s videos (and shelled out for some of his other brushes), but he’s really on one, with this brow set. I honestly wish Beautylish would stop emailing me about it, because there’s no way I’m shelling out that kind of dough for a freakin’ spoolie and a couple of generic brushes. Sorry, Wayne, but this one’s a hard pass.

I know right? I bought his eye set and am working on buying the others I want individually but have zero interest in the brow set. I didn’t RSVP to any of the Beautylish avalanche of invites so I don’t get why I’m still being mail bombed about this. I got 3 (!!!!!!) Emails today alone. I love Wayne, I freaking worship my eye set and I think Beautylish is a fabulous company but dang! Enough with the mail. My lack of response should be a heads up.

Hey, other Bonnie! πŸ˜‰ and Ti,
Agreeeee completely! I rsvp’d to the Chikuhodo brush set and bought it, the CT matte revolution lipsticks and bought them, but THIS was DEFINITELY a hard pass, right from the get go. As in before I even saw the pictures. C’mon Wayne, REALLY???

Hi other Bonnie! πŸ™‚ I completely agree with your “C’mon Wayne”. That was pretty much my response. It really is sort of a blatant money grab. I’d say we are 3 outta 3 bcuz it was a hard pass sight unseen for me too.

I actually pre-ordered this set as my first investment to his brushes. I’ve been hearing great things about them and said hey let me give them a go.

I pre-ordered my set last week and will be receiving them today. I didn’t mine the $55 price tag for the set. I love Wayne’s brushes and the quality of handmade Japanese brushes. I compared the WG brow set price to individually sold Hakuhodo brushes: Hakuhodo Kokutan brown comb brush it’s $30.00 (the bristle and comb are the same), J5549 eyebrow angled brush is $22.00 (most similar to WG 21 brush), that is $52.00 for just two brushes. The Hakuhodo B013 Mascara Brush is $14.00 on it’s own.

Well, it’s true you can buy brow brushes and combs very cheaply but I still purchased the brow set – not least because they’ll match my other WG brushes ? – which I’m very satisfied with. I’ve been using the same synthetic brow brush and Clinique brow powder for 25 years. – good enough to give a bit of definition but certainly not a ‘groomed’ appearance. With so much emphasis on brow grooming I finally do feel that I’d like to ‘up my brow game’ and spend a bit more effort on my uneven, sparse brows. It’s a nice set – a bit expensive but they look nice and I’m certain will be well made. I expect them to last me a good 40 years by which time I’ll be 90.

These seem very simple for such a hefty price. I also assume the term “natural hair” means animal hair, so it’s not for me. I’m interested to hear the unbiased reviews on these, though! Maybe they look deceiving and are the real deal. πŸ™‚
