Viseart Chocolat Petits Fours Palette Review & Swatches
Chocolat
Viseart Chocolat Petits Fours Eyeshadow Palette ($22.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a warm-toned set of shades that includes two matte eyeshadows and two shimmery eyeshadows. The four shades coordinated well together as a warmer-toned neutral look. The lighter matte eyeshadow was fairly powdery to work with, while the darker matte was stiffer in the pan, so it wasn’t the consistency/total performance I’d expect from Viseart’s formula, though certainly workable.

Café Crème
Café Crème is a darker, orange-peach with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that was somewhat buildable, but it applied better over an eyeshadow primer as it was drier and moderately powdery. I’d recommend working with this before any deeper shades as it had fallout during application and blending. It lasted decently for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview
-
The eyeshadow formula is supposed to be "pigment[ed]" with "smooth and even application" that is "long-lasting." The matte shades are typically semi-opaque to opaque but buildable with soft, velvety textures that can sometimes be a little powdery or slightly firm, depending on the shade. I find that the mattes are often best suited to someone who likes control over pigmentation and may prefer to build up color; they regularly perform better in practice than just swatched on the arm as well.
The shimmer shades range from satin to metallic, and the more metallic shades tend to feel creamier to the touch, while the satin ones have a fine pearl to them that looks almost melted on the lid once blended out. Both the mattes and shimmers are blendable and easy to work with. Most of Viseart's eyeshadows wear between seven and nine hours on me.

Peches
Peches is a medium peach with stronger, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was soft, yielding but not to the point where it became overly powdery, though there was a bit of excess kicked up in the pan. It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly and blended out nicely along the edges. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Orange Sanguine
Orange Sanguine is a deeper, reddish-orange base with warm gold sparkle and finer pearl that gave it a sparkling sheen. It had rich color coverage in a single layer, which adhered well to bare skin and blended out well along the edges. The texture was smooth, moderately dense, and a bit firmer, though it picked up fine with a dry brush. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours but had a touch of fallout over time.

Ganache
Ganache is a medium-dark brown with subtle, warm red undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation, which was buildable to full opacity with less than a second layer. The eyeshadow had a stiffer, slightly firm texture to it, so it made it easier to control how much was picked up on the brush but I found I needed to push at the surface to get product to come away from it. I didn’t experience any issues blending it out, though. It lasted well for nine hours before fading visibly.

Quads must be the flavour of the month for a lot of brands as there have been so many new releases. This is a well-co-ordinated take on, probably, the most popular shade – warm brown. For those who prefer more mattes in their quads, this one would appeal and the shimmery shades are subtle. A lovely quad.
I actually like the idea of quads and smaller palettes (with smaller price tags as well) because, personally, I tend to find them easier to use and less “overwhelming”. I do, indeed, love my large palettes and wouldn’t part with them for anything but for every day, quick-ready and out the door looks, a well selected assortment of colours in a 4 pan palette is a treasure.
Having said that, this one is just too warm for me.
I love the return trend to quads!
Perfect shades for my eye color! And I do like it quite a lot. I’m just not thrilled by such a powdery transition shade. Then again, it is just a transition shade, so that shouldn’t be a big deal, I suppose.
I like the curation, but I feel like I have all these shades (or very similar) in Theory Siren and Golden Hour.
