Do you use the same mascara everyday or do you rotate through a few?

Do you use the same mascara everyday or do you rotate through a few? Why/why not?

I usually have two that I’m working through, but I try not to have too many open since I toss them regularly, and they can dry out otherwise! Sometimes I’ll have a more natural mascara that lengthens but doesn’t thicken, and then I’ll have a more dramatic mascara, so I can get different looks/intensities.

I just have one normal one and one travel-sized/emergency one in my handbag. Like you said, they dry out! I’m holding off on opening another until those have to be tossed.

Just 2, a regular one and a waterproof one. For some reason i hate to spend on mascara, probably because i have very black/long lashes so i feel like most drugstore mascaras work for me anyway

Dramatic lengthening and thickening one in black and a less dramatic in brown for days I want to go “natural”. I use Maybelline because I tend to go through mascara quickly and am not about to spend a fortune on my eyelashes. Haven’t really liked any of the pricier ones I’ve tried anyway.

I used to have at least two–one waterproof mascara and one tube mascara. After curling my lashes, I would use the waterproof to set my curl. Then I would apply a tube mascara as the outer layer to keep things from running or smudging (I can’t use tube formulas by itself bc tube formulas seem to straighten out any curl). Everything and I mean EVERYTHING else smudges.

Then I tried the L’Oreal Lash Out Butterfly Waterproof. Curls, lengthens, lends volume and doesn’t run! I’m still amazed I can skip a step on each eye.

I usually only have one open at a time. Since I don’t use them up that quickly, I tend to stick to sample size for high-end mascaras, though. That way it’s easier to save them for special occasions without worrying they’d go off before you can finish them.

Last year I treated myself to the Lash Stash from Sephora to try out high-end mascaras and I’m still making my way through them a couple at a time. Otherwise, I would be using Maybelline’s Lash Stiletto exclusively, which replaced Full & Soft.

Usually, because I don’t wear mascara every day, I only have one on the go at any given time but lately (because I was really impatient to try a new one I’d purchased and finally couldn’t wait any longer), I have 2 full sized tubes and 2 samples on the go at the same time.

I used to just use one mascara, but lately I find myself using 2 or 3 different formulas depending on mood. In my current rotation: Sisley So Intense for great mod lashes, Givenchy Phenomen for lengthy wispy, Burberry for everyday natural looking lashes.

I have one that’s super black which weighs down my lashes so it’s for night or larger events where I can spend time shaping my lashes. My L’Oréal Million Lashes mascara is my day time one although I think I’m going to get a brown one so it becomes more my lashes but better.

Right now I have 6 mascaras in rotation. Two full size, Lancome Doll Lashes (for nights out) & Maybelline Full & Soft (for everyday) and 4 samples, Too Faced Better than Sex (LOVE!), Benefit’s They’re Real (a pain to take off), Lancome Hypnose Star (weird brush, but I kind of like it), and Lancome Defincilis (just opened last night).

Unfortunately I have about 5 on the go right now – I’m still searching for that perfect one. I rotate and/or layer, depending on the effect I want and the condition of my lashes. I have been buying drugstore mascaras that I think I realize I just don’t like. I honestly find higher end (tarte, benefit) do perform better for me.

I always have at least two. One for my upper lashes, and one for my lower lashes. I am such a mascara klutz, so it’s important for me to have an awesomely volumizing mascara for top lashes. For my lower lashes, I need a small brush and the formula needs to be waterproof/smudge proof.

I use the same auburn one for may daily looks but usually have a black one open as well for going out. During the summer I usually have a waterproof one too but only use when I’m going to the lake or the beach.

At the moment, I’m working my way through an impressively bottomless tube of YSL waterproof mascara. Waterproof isn’t my absolute favourite (because of the removal), but at $70 a tube, I don’t want it to go to waste! I bought it for my wedding (where, oviously, waterproof is a must).

I don’t ever really have more than one mascara on the go (unless I have samples), because even the ‘cheap’ ones here are $20-30 per tube and mascara really does expire! 😀

I don’t want to admit how many mascaras I have in my rotation right now, but several are samples, so let’s just not count those. Also, I greatly prefer a drier mascara, so time is my friend. My current favorites are Guerlain Maxi Lash, DiorShow Extase, and Lancome Hypnose. If I had to choose just one, it would be Guerlain Maxi Lash as one coat looks like 2-3 of the others and it’s a breeze to apply.

I have been using a couple: YSL shocking and Chanel le volume mascaras and while I do like YSL, I’ve been veering more towards the Chanel for a while. I love it I must say and will definitely repurchase another one when it dries out.

For Christmas 2012, my sister bought me the Sephora “best of – mascara” gift set of about 10 different sample-sized mascaras so I spent most of 2013 alternating through all of the mascaras. There were some I liked and some I disliked but didn’t have the heart to throw away.

But in fall 2013, I found my HG mascara: Urban Decay Cannonball. Super waterproof and helps my Asian lashes stay curled (whereas many other “curling,” “volumnizing,” or “lengthening” mascaras would droop after application even when I curl my eyelashes super curly). So from then on I’ve pretty much only use that 🙂

I am a lucky, lucky woman and tend to get a lot of mascara through my job, so I always have at least six or seven lying around. Generally, if I know it’s not my kind of mascara, I won’t open it and I’ll just save it till I find someone to give it to. But if it’s one I like or have been wanting to try, I’ll definitely use it for about a week to see how I feel. Then I’ll either fall in love and use it till it’s empty, or it just kind of hangs out with my makeup until I can’t remember when I opened it so I toss it.

Just got Chanel Le Volume yesterday (actually two, because one of the girls I work with only uses waterproof, yay for me!) and I definitely love it. There was an awful lot of product on the brush today, but I’m sure tomorrow will be a little easier. But I love the brush, and love the drama!

I always use one up, unless I need a waterproof one, too for certain situations. Or if I absolutely don’t like it, it’s not working. Then I toss it and get another one.

LilyNesty Avatar

I have 3 mascaras open but use only one because one is waterproof and I don’t like that, it’s for going to the pool or the sea. And an other for my first aid kit always in my handbag .. Lol

I use the Gosh growth mascara and if I have time I top up with either Mally, as it gives this really superblack sheen or They are Real, benefit ( have just a sample)
For Bottom lashes the Clinique one.

( just bought Maybelline’s combo top-bottom lashes mascara, now on offer in superdrug london but will not open until I finish the others as I need to get more disciplined……)
