Urban Decay Perversion Super-Saturated Cream Eyeliner & Perversion Angled Brush Review, Photos, Swatches
Urban Decay Perversion Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner
Urban Decay Perversion Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner ($22.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep, dark, blacker-than-black eyeliner with a satin-to-matte finish. It’s extremely intense in color payoff, and the texture is quite creamy, so it smooths over the skin easily and doesn’t drag or really skip. Because it’s so creamy, it can also be used as a black eyeshadow base if desired. The only downside is that it takes a couple of minutes for it to fully set and dry down, which makes it great for a smudgy look, but if you’re pressed for time, it might not be the first go-to for a two-minute look. I didn’t feel like it really moved while setting, but if you go to curl your lashes, you might disturb it. The texture is definitely lighter and creamier, wetter too, than a gel formula–sometimes gel and cream can feel the same, but this definitely feels and behaves like a true cream eyeliner. On me, it wore well and lasted ten hours without smudging or fading.
There are a ton of intense black eyeliners on the market in a variety of formulas, so there’s no shortage these days.  I’ve included swatch comparisons below of how this shade stacks up to the rest of the Perversion range, but if you’re looking to compare against other rich black eyeliners, here’s the official Dupe List / Swatch Comparisons for Perversion (cream).
Urban Decay Perversion Angled Brush ($16.00) is a medium-thick, angled brush made out of synthetic fibers. It worked well for applying the cream eyeliner just launched, and it is best for medium-thin to medium-thick lines, but if you really want something very thin and precise, I would go for a thinner or more pointed brush.

I thought this would be crinkly on the eyes but it looks like it applies quite smooth would like to try this.
Very smooth 🙂
Good times 🙂
Christine, does this have paraffin in it? I ask because I’m allergic and it’s the only thing I don’t like about UD’s eyeliners. Thx!
Hi Trish,
Urban Decay lists all the ingredients for their products online, actually – http://www.urbandecay.com/eye-makeup/eyeliner
I don’t have boxes for these, so I don’t have physical ingredient lists on my end.
Thx! Just checked the ingredient list on their site for this and yay, NO Paraffin!
Any idea why Black Velvet looks brown? I was really looking forward to an intense black liner with velvet finish…
It photographs more brown than it actually is, but it is a warmer-toned black.
Hey Christine! How does this compare to blacktrack? I went to look on the dupe list but I didn’t see an official swatch for blacktrack.
Blacktrack is the same in color really, but it is more of a matte finish and has a thicker, denser texture.
Thank you! I just wanted to know if they were close enough that I could save 7 bucks and buy blacktrack instead 🙂
Now this is super black! Loved it!
Yay!
This is definitely going on a list of items to pick up. There are a ton of intense black products on the markets as you stated in your review, but the key for me is the type of product. I find Perversion in pencil form, the new OCC dark black pencil etc eventually do smear into my crease and so I do not use pencil as a dark black liner vehicle. I use these pencils for tightlining instead. Pens are also another great option, but far less than perfect for someone with aging skin. I find the pens skip across the skin where there may be slight creasing, even if they are minimal creases. I also find pen formulas draw attention to small imperfections such as these. These skips and starts do not work well with pens and redrawing and connecting bits doesn’t work so well with this formula and it ends up looking quite horrible. So that leaves cream eyeliner which is great because it is smooth enough to flow over any imperfections and the texture is stretchy enough to flex and not flake over same. So yeah, after that long-winded explanation, I’m totally game for this. I’ll wait for the dry down for that type of performance.
I think you’ll love this, Wendy! 🙂 You may like Black Velvet, too, as a less smudgy option for pencil.
You said exactly what I was going to say! Think I’ll consider picking this up too!
Both the color and the description seam so similar to the Maybelline version which I love.
There is so many great drugstore options these days
There are!
Is this any better than MAC Blacktrack? It looks really nice, but if they’re about the same in quality, I’m not going to spend $8 more on this one
Blacktrack has a denser texture in a way (more gel like). They wear the same on me, though.
Is Black Velvet a black which photographs brown? Or is it actually brown-leaning? I recall you saying once that blacks either photograph brown/black or blue/black, depending on the pigments.
It photographs brown like the stubborn pencil it is! It is black, but it has fairly strong warm, brown undertones – like it definitely looks warm when I swatch it next to Perversion eyeliner.
Sounds good to me!! Finally a black which may not wash me out 😀 plus I LOVE how matte it is.
I love cream liners! I might have to pick this up too 😉 Not that I need any more black liners in my life!!!!!
LOL! Few of us really “need” more!
I don’t use cream liners but I’m interested in these…. I actually still have my Real Techniques cream/gel liner brush that I’ve yet to use since I never bought cream/gel liner lol
I can’t believe you’ve never bought any cream/gel eyeliner before! Maybe start with Maybelline’s – great product and cheaper 🙂
I just received this yesterday and am just trying it out today. I have my fingers crossed it doesn’t migrate to my lower lashline like almost every other eyeliner does. I’m hoping that since it’s a waterproof formula it will hold up better.
Christine, how does the angle brush compare to Mac’s 208 or 266 in size? I prefer the 208 for liner so if it’s similar I might consider buying it. Thanks in advance!
It’s a little thinner than the 266 but more comparable to the 266 than 208.
Thanks! Now I know I don’t need it. 🙂
I might have to give this a try. My all time favorite is Inglot’s #77. If this can hold up to my #77, Inglot may be in trouble.
Let me know what you think if you try!
I was very excited for this – I’m just getting into cream/gel eyeliners (my very first eyeliner ever was actually a liquid one), and I’m definitely adding this UD one to my stash! The only other one I have at the moment is the maybelline one, ut I accidentally bought it in charcoal, not black. It’s great, but since the Maybelline ones are ~$20 here anyway, I think for my first foray into proper black cream eyeliner it’s going to have to be UD!
Fortunately, my sister is after some UD stuff too, so we’re going to put in an order together! I love so much that you can get UD stuff to NZ!!
Liquid is the hardest, lol!
I love how rich and intense black it is!
Me too! 😀
Oooo the beloved liner in gel form!
Yup!
Hi Christine,
Which is your favorite cream/gel eyeliner? I have used Bobbi Brown, Stila, LORAC and Tarte so far and I like Bobbi Brown the best. My problem with cream/gel eyeliner is that they all dry out before I finish half the pot. I want to try a new brand, may be UD, MAC, or YSL. Thanks!
It was MAC’s for awhile, but it’s now NARS’ 🙂 I haven’t had problems with them drying out.
Great pigments! I usually stick to liquid eyeliner, but these look great as well
What’s your favorite liquid eyeliner?
I hope release more shades. Demolition would be my pick in a cream liner!
I hope so!
This looks like a good one! These pots take so long to use up – I swear I have them for so long and can’t manage to put a dent in them. It makes it hard to justify buying more!
They do take awhile to get through!
Love!
Yay!
The cream looks amazing! I wonder if its hard to take off even with makeup remover?
Nope!
Hi! is there a brush (s) you would recommend to apply this besides the UD brush pictured? Thank you 🙂
I like MAC’s 208!
ok cool! is there a good one by real techniques for a cream liner too?
Real Techniques has a silicone eye liner brush (very thin), but the only angled brush they have that I know of us is a brow brush in the starter kit (which is going to give you a thicker line).
i just got mine in the mail and it looks like the jar is barely filled with product :/
They should be filled by weight and not volume!
i guess i’m just used to MAC fluidline where the jars are filled to the top, thank you or the brush recs! i misplaced my eyeliner brushes
