Urban Decay Mrs. Mia Wallace Nail Color ($15.00 for 0.30 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep red with slight shimmer.” It’s a deepened, ruby red with very fine, subtle ruby shimmer that brightens and makes the polish look more cherry red in the light. With less light, the shimmer disappears and the color appears almost blood red. NARS Paros (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Black Metal Dahlia (P, $10.00) is darker, more metallic. MAC Underfire (LE, $16.00) is warmer, less shimmery. MAC Get Noticed (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Dior Apparat (LE, $24.00) has gold shimmer. Chanel Rouge Fatal (LE, $27.00) is warmer, less shimmery. Le Metier de Beaute Dynasty (LE, $10.00) is cooler-toned. China Glaze Mommy Kissing Santa (LE, $7.50) is similar, more shimmery. China Glaze Merry Berry (LE, $7.50) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

It was fully opaque after two coats, though it was nearly opaque after just one coat, but it looks more plush with two. It dries down slightly faster than the average polish, and it was easy to apply–no streaking, bubbling, or pooling along the edges of the nail. It has a naturally shiny finish, though not as glossy as a top coat would be, so you may or may not find a top coat a necessary step. The polish has a black cap, as compared to the gunmetal cap of previously released shades, as it is from the Pulp Fiction collaboration. Urban Decay’s formula lasts a full seven days on me with very minor tip wear but no chipping. One thing I noticed, though, was the brush seemed longer and narrower compared to the other shades I have, which made applying the polish a bit trickier, as the brush seemed too long.

The hard copy press release I have says it will be at Sephora, ULTA, and select Macy’s and beauty.com as well, so it sounds like it will be released everywhere. I expect that UD will release it on their site first, then everyone else will follow a week or two later.

I was a little disappointed in this collection (wow, another neutral eye + red lip), but I think I’ll pick up this polish and the lip liner.

(yeah, I get that that’s Mia’s look in the movie, but it just seems like neutral eye + red lip is so common and overdone. It’s so easy to find dupes I don’t want to pay extra for LE packaging.)

I don’t usually go gaga over red nail polish, but the inspiration is what excites me about this! Pulp Fiction is one of my all time favorite movies and Mia might be my favorite character so I definitely need to pick this up!

I really like this polish but I find the collection a bit strange – the polish she wore in the film was famously Chanel Rouge Noir, and the original lipstick is probably well known too.

It’s a lovely colour and looks very classy but as far as I can remember, Mia Wallace’s manicure in the movie was much darker and deeper, more of a blackened burgundy that a cherry red.
I would have loved to see that sort of shade with some black and red glitter maybe…

Common misconception. The original polish was MAC Dubonnet (which used to exist as a polish colour in addition to the lipstick). MAC, at the time, was not the powerhouse it came to be later on and Chanel was much better known and its PR department much better-funded. So beauty editors wrote up Chanel’s Vamp in the ubiquitous “get the Mia Wallace look” articles of the time. A craze was sparked and that’s how Vamp became the legendary polish it was, but actual credit goes to MAC. Check out the poster and swatches or bottle shots of old Chanel Vamp — not the re-release with shimmer in it. You’ll see, her nails are lighter, though still a blackened brick.

I really feel the nail colour should have been more brown-toned. It’s weird that they went totally 90’s with the rest of the line, only to rein it in and make something that looks like a million OPI releases. Too bad. Opportunity missed, Urban Decay!

A very good red! I hope I can get this, as there seems to be some kind of problem, sending nail polishes by mail these days.
Why we don’t have UD here is a mystery to me.

I had to have this and the matching lip color. I wonder if mine came
from a bad batch the lipstick is gooey and sticky in texture and the nail polish
chips like crazy and I am light on my hands lately. :/

I know I’m commenting rather late (not entirely sure what to do when you suddenly find a dupe) but L’oreal’s red tote is a pretty good dupe for this, if slightly darker/less bright due to the lack of shimmer.

I found this at Nordstrom Rack today for $5! I went back and forth about buying it when it was out and when it was gone I regretted not getting it, I’m so happy I got it after all! Put it on right when I got home and it’s beautiful (and I say that as someone who doesn’t usually opt for red nail polish). I agree the brush is a bit awkward and challenging, but I really love the formula. It’d be cool if UD had a permanent line of nail polishes, but then again these limited edition releases are so exciting! 🙂
