Urban Decay Cream Eyeshadows: Grass, Weeds, & Radium

Urban Decay Cream Eyeshadows ($17.00 each) came out a few months ago as the newly revamped cream eyeshadows. I had heard many raves for the original Urban Decay cream eyeshadows, and these are definitely up to par! I’m really loving the packaging on this product, because it is a flocked applicator that you just pull out and use to apply (very much like a lipgloss or UDPP). Usually cream eyeshadows are packaged in pots or jars, so you either usey our fingers or a brush to apply.

These eyeshadows are a silicone, gel-based formula that provides a creaseless base layer of color. I tried Grass, which is a really bright pop of emerald, grassy green; Weeds, which is a bright, shimmering yellow-y gold-green; and Radium, which is a bright, shimmering medium blue color. I haven’t road-tested them on my eyes yet, but I did blend them out on my hand to test out the staying power. Verdict? They held up all day, despite several hand washings! Definitely something to consider for the hot, sweaty summer months coming up.

Other Shades:

Asphalt (black with lots of silver and iridescent glitter), Delinquent (deep metallic purple), Grass (metallic junebug green), Midnight Rodeo (pink champagne with lots of silver and iridescent glitter), Moonshine (pale silver with lots of silver glitter), Mushroom (gunmetal with taupe shift and iridescent glitter), Radium (metallic blue), Rehab (creamy taupe), Sphynx (icy pink with silver and iridescent glitter), Suburbia (medium bronze with subtle gold microsparkle), Weeds (medium green with yellow shift and big silver glitter), Whipped (golden peach with subtle gold microsparkle)

They’re so pretty and seem fairly easy to use. I still wonder about the staying power though. Would you mind sharing a picture of one of the shadows on your lids?

I’ve been eyeing these for a long time now. I think I’ll have to go check them out during my next Sephora trip! Thanks for the review!

I’ve been eyeing these for awhile and after the swatches I think I might get some! But I wanted to ask something, you reviewed one of the Fresh Face Masks from Lush and I was wondering if you had to go in-store to get one of them? I don’t see them on their website..

the masks are only available in store. they don’t ship them because of the expiration date and because some of them need to be refrigerated.

my friend gave me moonshine, sphynx, radium, whipped and delinquent in january before they came out and i have been OBSESSED with them ever since. i’ve worn delinquent with a little benefit lust duster in punk royalty over it to the clubs in nyc and woke up the next morning with my eyes perfectly intact! (not so good at taking off makeup before i go to sleep haha)

i love using one layer of whipped or sphynx for daytime looks for school, it lasts all day until i come home and never flakes, just continual sheer, glimmery color.

just bought asphalt and am loving all long lasting smoky eyes i’ve been able to accomplish using it and moonshine together – it looks especially great under bare escentuals in rock star, loads of dimension of sparkly black.

i can’t wait to get the rest of the colors! i’m a true UD cream eyeshadow enthusiast!

I have these in Asphalt, Rehab, and Mushroom. I hate to be the dissent here, but i hate them all. They do not apply evenly, wanting to sheer out, leaving chunks of glitter. If you wait to dry to layer the color, it turns into a blobby mess. This happens with all 3 colors.

I have Midnight Rodeo, Sphynx and Delinquent, I’ve used them as bases and they worked really well. MR is a bit too glittery, but lovely anyway. 🙂 Just bought Whipped on eBay too.

On that note, have you tried the new Too Faced Lockdown cream shadows? How do they compare to these UD ones? Thanks.

Too Faced’s LOCKDOWNS are amazing. They last all day and night. I apply in the morning before work and then I go out to dinner & bars right after. When I come home the only thing smudged is my eyeliner, definitely not the color though

I enjoyed the UD cream shadows before their revamp, but this packaging has the same issues as the old ones (and as many other UD products). It’s terribly inefficient – once you get to the last 50% or so, it becomes increasingly difficult to get it out of the container. I had to resort to a combination of squeezing and pulling up on the tube, while sticking the wand in to get product on it lol.

That is – in my opinion – the only downfall to these. They DO last a long time on me, and don’t crease for half the day when I am NOT wearing a base or primer on my lids (and obviously last longer when I am).

I have bought Asphalt, Delinquent, Moonshine, Mushroom, and Radium oaver a month ago and I LOVE them! They are easy to use, last long, don’t crease, and are pigmented. They work well as a base. Cannot say enough good things about them…
