Ulta needs to remove the restrictions on all of the coupons they send out every week. Otherwise they don’t do me any good.
I agree. I never use the coupon because my favorite brands are restricted from the discount.
Exactly! The coupons are useless, might as well go to my drugstore which is a lot closer to me than ulta
It is quite ridiculous. What are we supposed to get with our 20% off? Maybelline? When I can go to my local Walmart and probably get similar if not better prices? Pass. :-/
Ulta sends a 20% entire purchase coupon every couple of months that you can use on basically everything including Urban Decay, Benefit, etc.
What exactly can you use this discount on? Drugstore lines and their own brand seems about it.
Most of the higher end hair care like Redken, Paul Mitchell, etc. OPI, China Glaze, and CHI among other products. These coupons aren’t as lame as a lot of people are making them out to be.
The only thing I want from Ulta is the Anastasia brow kit (Sephora doesn’t have it in my color), but….excluded from coupons. Since I don’t use stupid drugstore brands, the coupons are nearly useless for me. I may stop in to see if they have the holiday China Glaze colors, maybe I can use coupons for that. Otherwise, Ulta is nearly useless. I don’t know why anyone shops there.
If you are signed up for the snail mailings, you may receive a 20% total purchase coupon that you can use on pretty much everything including Anastasia products. I just got mine the other day.
I got the coupon in my snail mail, so I am going to go look for the kit I want. However, my Ulta store’s “prestige” cosmetics section is really dinky (like 1/8th of the store). Their Anastasia section is less than 1/2 of a bay, not sure if they have the kits or not. Keeping my fingers crossed, though.
If they don’t have the kit, I may just buy the bigger kit from Sephora (since their coupons work on EVERYTHING!, buy the Strawburn powder separately, and send the included powder off to a blonde friend of mine.
I went in yesterday, and they do have the kit I wanted in-store. However, when I was at the register, the cashier informed me that I could NOT use my coupon on Anastasia items. They didn’t have the China Glaze holiday collection. I browsed the store for a while, and noticed the EcoTools are on sale Buy 1 Get 1 50% off. I grabbed the bronzing brush, and the 5-piece complexion kit, used my coupon, and only spent $15 after tax. The cashier then proceeded to dramatically rip my coupon up into tiny pieces.
I don’t anticipate running back to purchase anything from them again.
I went back to Sephora and bought the larger (and more expensive) kit from them, with my coupon, and the cashier tossed a handful of assorted deluxe-sized samples into my bag, and was super friendly.
See ya, Ulta, your crazy coupon restrictions and unfriendly staff have lost a customer.
Seems like a lame attempt to compete with Sephora’s F&F sale, lol. I wish Ulta would have some coupons without exclusions from time to time to time.
Eh – Sephora sale is where it’s at!
The only things I’d be interested in buying from ULTA are restricted, but not at Sephora! Lol.
Thanks for letting us know Christine! What would we do without you?
Unfortunately, I’m of the same opinion as most of the commenters here. Ulta has too many restrictions AND they run out of their “free gifts with purchase” way too quickly. I have their rewards card, receive the snail mailings, and I’ve never received a coupon that I can use on the products I actually want.
Thank goodness for Sephora! 🙂
I just went today and the good stuff you can not get the discount of off….so I basically stocked up on staples….I used the Sephora discount to pick up my prestige brands and get 20% off…….
