Top 10 of 2011: Lipsticks & Lipglosses

Top 10 of 2011: Lipsticks & Lipglosses

Whew — this was difficult!  I ended up having to lump some of the new-for-2011 formulas into a single pick, even though there were lots of shades I loved!   These are products I reviewed and discovered in 2011, some being part of a brand’s permanent range and others being new/limited edition shades that we saw over the past months.  I guess you could say I gravitate towards reds…

  1. Hourglass Siren Extreme Sheen Lipgloss
  2. Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Colors
  3. Guerlain Rouge Automatiques
  4. Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lipglosses
  5. NYX Chic Red Round Lipstick
  6. NARS Damage Lipstick
  7. Guerlain Garconne Rouge G Lipstick
  8. Dior Nocturne Rouge Dior Lip Color
  9. Illamasqua Atomic Lipstick
  10. Giorgio Armani #406 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Not for a very long time they haven’t been, and these posts are only for newly discovered in 2011 or new for 2011 products – not just any products! 🙂

Tough for me to pick! I completely agree with Siren lipgloss. It’s magical and has the highest ranked spot in my purse. This was the year of lipsticks for me and I purchased probably twenty. Mostly drugstore, but a few nice things like a MAC and some Morgana Cryptoria.

One day I’ll check out some of the “fancier” brands you review like Guerlain.

I really like the MAC Kissable Lipcolours, the Surf Baby!, Tour de Fabulous and Bloggers Obsessions Lipglasses, Glitter and Ice Dazzleglasses and the Dazzlesphere! Pink Ornament. I’m also a fan of Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balms. The Hibiscus shade is especially lovely and flattering.

Surprised to didnt mention anything from Dolce&Gabbana Makeup! Its fantastic.
My favourites for lips were:
Best lipgloss Giorgio Armani all shades amazing
Best lipstick Dolce & Gabbana Mandorla

I like the Rouges Automatiques too ( I have 4 shades and among them ” Champs Elysées ” or ” Liu ” )and the ” Joyous red ” from Nars. Otherwise, ” Musky Amethyst ” from M.A.C and the RAL for Holiday 2011 from Chanel ” Famous ” and ” Enivrée ” both really beautiful.

I think my favorite lip product for 2011 was the UD Stardust gloss. It basically took the things I liked about their other gloss formulas and combined them into one.

Now I just need some more colors… XD

I am late to the party but my fave would definitely be Rouge G Garconne, that lipstick is amazing, surprised it only made No. 7. I think the formula of Rouge Gs is the best, at least to me it is HG material as far as longevity and moisturizing and this tone especially was the best red I have probably ever tried (well, on me).
