Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Face & Eye Palette Swatches

Tom Ford Beauty Shade and Illuminate Face and Eye Palette

If your pockets are feeling full, there are four variations available in the Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Face & Eye Palette ($155.00 for 0.49 oz.) range, which debuted late spring/early summer on the brand’s website and popped up on Nordstrom more recently (and then promptly went in and out of stock–right now, three of the four are available; Nordstrom listed them as exclusives to their site).

Each palette contains a highlighter and sculpting powder along with four eyeshadows, which are all in the more baked-gelee kind of formula (like Honeymoon, Nude Dip, etc.), which I have found is usually better-performing than the standard formula.

At this price point, these products all need to be absolutely stupendous. Even so, for me, that price tag is just a bit too steep, especially because I’ve already got highlighters I love and bronzers I like well enough and enough eyeshadows to outfit Cirque du Soleil for a few years! If they are outstanding, I could see one of these being the ideal purchase for someone fairly new to makeup who is looking for a quality cheek and eye palette all in one place. But count me OUT!

As always, the price gouging disguised by elitist marketing leaves me cold, solidifying my life-long commitment to remain a TF refusenik.

This is not a criticism of anyone who buys/enjoys their products.

So far, not available in Canada. Most likely close to $200 with the exchange. Maybe Holt Renfrew will stock them. I would say ‘thank you’ if it was a gift. The $200 can buy a few other things. I am now well-stocked in bronzers and highlighters and also to tend to hit pan on a lot of shadow palettes and use them up. Hopeful for the new Dior quints relaunch this fall.

I brought Moss Agate and really like it! The blue and green shadows are smooth and pigmented, last all day. The bronzer though looks a little too dark and muddy on my complexion. Was considering the Violet one but the highlighter is too light and the purples look kinda muted.

I too can live without it. At that price, I can definitely get many more eyeshadows I am actually excited to try the Canadian brand which you showed us a few weeks ago. Tom Ford palette is I feel more for people who are looking for less is more. But I definitely would go for more is better ?

The eyeshadows themselves look pretty good in all the swatches. The major problem with these kind of face and eye palettes is the ‘face’ part. Picking a bronzer shade to place into this palette is hazardous, partly because not everyone uses a bronzer and because one shade definitely doesn’t fit all. The brand would have better to have chosen a blush shade instead. It just makes the palette not work. None of those bronzers would suit me at all, yet the eyeshadows seem lovely.
Again, the price point of this would be horrendously expensive……

I have red harness and moss agate. I have used red agate. I love having this formula in a full face palette (that is not dusty) and I (Nc43) can wear every color. I do wish the 3 rd palette matched better in highlighter vs contour – the highlighter is too icy, otherwise I would have gotten that one. Overall aesthetic, I like the gentleness of the first quad but it’s too light for me, I have been real enjoying the red harness every time I put on makeup.
