For fall, Tom Ford has two new eyeshadow quads–Ambrosia and Dark Opulence–which I bought and pretty much felt a heavy dose of regret and sadness upon swatching. I should have reviews soon-ish but here are swatches for now!

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

The swatches for Dark Opulence actually look more than a bit disappointing – #2 and 3 look sort of lacking in “oomph” but I’ll be keen to see how they perform (not that I’d shell out for Tom Ford – just too rich for my blood). Colour-wise, I’d like to see a palette with Ambrosia 1 and 4 and Dark Opulence 2 and 3 (like Genevieve, I’m also not a huge fan of the ubiquitous black eyeshadow in so many palettes).

Wow! No color payoff and depth from any of the swatches, for a ~ $100 quad? One could put together a similar quad with Sydney Grace eyeshadows and get deep, rich colors and beautiful shimmers for a fraction of the cost. Disappointment indeed. 🙁
