Christine, Do you know why some products are restricted from a sale at one store but not another? I was going to buy my Jan Marini peptide serum and found that it was restricted from the Dermstore sale but not at the Skin Store sale. Now I am wondering if the Skin Store products are possibly not authentic or expired and that is how they are able to reduce the price.

It most likely has to do with the brand not wanting to be discounted, but it can depend on the retailer – it can also depend on discounts at other retailers, frequency, etc. It could depend on whether the retailer takes the cut out of their profit or the brand does. Sephora, for instance, has no brand exclusions on their % off sale, even though some of those brands do not typically participate in stores.

As far as I know, both of those are legitimate stores with far larger parent conglomerates. Last I read, Target owns Dermstore, Walgreens owns Skinstore.

And that’s why Walgreen’s is closing some etailing…. cannibalizing their house brands, according to an article cited on Kind of Stephen.

I’m sorry to see Beauty.com go dark. I actually liked their drugstore side better that the beauty side. I could always find oddball items there. Sad to see them go. I wonder which discount reseller will buy their existing stock?
