theBalm Risque Renee Eyeshadow

theBalm Risque Renee Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “dark navy blue sheen.” It reads a little more like indigo to me–it has this really rich, deep dark navy blue twisted with a blackened violet. It’s all mixed with blue and violet and almost teal-ish shimmer and finished with a soft sheen. The sheen came through more when I applied it wet, but when dry, it has a slightly more matte finish.

my thoughts on the formula: theBalm’s eyeshadows are soft, silky smooth, and packed with pigment. They apply evenly, blend out beautifully, and aren’t powdery at all (sometimes a side effect of really soft eyeshadows). I find they are so easy to use, because they apply without fall out and blend with other shadows effortlessly. Worth noting, too, is individual eyeshadows come with 0.12 oz., which is just over double the average eyeshdaow–and at a rather affordable price tag.

This just might be that navy blue I’m looking for.. very unique. The last I purchased just looked black after I applied it.

Not a fan of this shade – but would look at other shades. Did not know The Balm made shadows. I only used their brand about 10 years ago when they were a bit of a range on a lip gloss …which might have been their brand starter item – not sure.

I’ve several of their eyeshadows and really like them (I first heard about the line here so it’s all Christine’s fault :). The shadows are great as are the blushes and highlighting powder. I have a palette of theirs too which has dupes of several of the items I already own but I got it for one shadow – Insane Jane – which isn’t available on its own. But it’s so lovely I had to have it! Check them out – you probably will love their stuff.

Wow, for some reason when I look at it in the pan, it looks like it would be be sheer and chalky, but that is a really intense color! And double the size of a MAC pan for a reasonable price. *_*

Gorgeous! I have two TheBalm shadows (Luscious Lani and Just This Once Jamie) and I’m totally in love with them. Super smooth, pigmented, soft shimmer without going OTT. Heaven! I hope they expand their line of singles.

I don’t wear blue shadow all that often (almost never though I keep hearing how flattering it is for brown eyes) but I might just have to break down and give this one a try as the colour is really stunning.

There’s and Almay eyeshadow trio that has a blue similar to this that I totally forgot I owned… Now I must experiment!!

This is such a pretty color. I’d buy it especially because of the name (My name is Renee loll).

How is the pan size compared to Stila eyeshadows? I figured I could depot this into my Ben Nye palette where I keep my Stila.

Wow I just picked up MAC’s Contrast and Stila’s Butura hoping that either would the deep dark blurple I was looking for, and here it is! Thank you for this, I’ll be picking it up!

Thank you for everyone who asks “silly” questions…because they are great questions for others who read the blog.
I wouldn’t know about the variation in pan size…but I am aware of it now. Thank you!
