The Summer Season: YSL Fetish Pink Rouge Volupte Lipstick

YSL Fetish Pink Rouge Volupte Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a pretty-in-pink shade with no shimmer but a creamy feel and look.  It’s a cooler, slightly pastel and blue-based pink, so it definitely lends itself as more complementary on cooler skin tones, but with the right pairings, it can be lovely on warmer skin tones.  (I always like a gray or black smoky eye with light cheeks and a pale pink lip!)  It has a lightly sweetened mango scent, but I didn’t notice any taste.  Rouge Volupte is a very, very creamy formula that glides onto lips with ease, and it is very pigmented with just one stroke.

Is this the right pink for you? Would you wear it?

The Summer Season is a series of posts featuring bright, vibrant shades of coral, orange, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for a summer of fun — that runs through July 2010.

OMG I love, love, love this!! I have been looking for a dupe for Mac’s Lady Gaga and this is as close as I have seen. Very pretty color for spring/summer. Thanks for the info, you always save the day.

I actually have this color. I like the creamy formula, but the color almost has a chalky appearance on my skintone. The scent is a definite turn off — which is a pity — because I love the formula of these lipsticks and the glosses!

Hey Christine, have you heard of the website beautyticket.com? I saw a link to it on budget babe and checked it out last night… They have a bunch of designer brand makeup/skincare for really cheap!! Including YSL lipsticks and lipglosses. Also have private sales each week-this week it’s Nars, last week Josie Maran. It seems pretty awesome, but I thought I’d check with the expert before I made any rash purchases. 🙂

I have fetish pink and I’m warm toned and with the right look it does look great and you can always pair it with a warmer lipgloss!

I think that if you are tan or with a tan makeup look, this lipstick would look great! It will enhance your tan look. I also have found a good trick at the time of wearing bright lipstick colors like fuchsia, bright pink, bright orange and reds. I usually put one layer of the lipstick and then I top it with a lip gloss with a sheer brown-taupe-beige tone like MAC Lusterglass in Beaux or Sinnamon. It makes the color blend with the rest of your makeup more naturally and it makes the color looks gorgeous.

sorry, sweetie, this shade is not flattering, I don’t think on anyone! It’s a 60’s type bubblegum shade. Not pretty. If it were sheer, or even with some shimmer, it might be nice. I’m surprised you anyone would wear it.

I really don’t like these Rouge Volupte lipsticks. The texture is very weird, very thick. When I wear mine, it slides around on my lips and wears off very quickly. They look streaky. I don’t like the scent or taste of these either. This color looks like Pepto Bismol.

I LOVE this lipstick! I don’t know why a lot of people are leaving it.. This is almost the same color as MAC’s Pink Nouveau and that’s one of MAC’s Best Selling Shades. I love it because it’s perfect for my NC30 skin and if I want to achieve a baby doll look! 😀

I was surprised by the dislike for this lipstick too. It’s a great looking color and finish. I’m excited for mine to arrive 🙂

This is so wonderfully trashy looking. I have a medium/deep skin tone and I love to wear bright and bold lips. Once I paired NYX lipliner in purple rain with the lady gaga lipstick and made a bubblegum pornstar trailer trash pink color that I adored. I would wear this out. I wore it an knew it looked gaudy and thats part of why I like this lipstick. Its so fun.

Hi, I live in Brazil and I always see your swatches and reviews before I buy the products. They are the best and your site is very famous among the brazilian girls who enjoy makeup! I love colored lipsticks and use the many shades. I think the fetish pink is totally wearable, gorgeous. I’m interested in volupte rouge rose pink in color, # 27.

I love it! Too bad i miss this one out when we still have YSL here in our country(they moved out hahaha). I got peach passion which i like and provocative pink which i don’t like. This color was sold out that’s why i got the provocative pink. Anyway, i have to find a way to get hold of this … it’s lovely on you Christine.

I wish I could love it, but I cannot. Perhaps because colors like that look awful on me. I can see a cool fair-skinned girl wearing it, but not me. I’ll stick to my oranges, corals and fuschias for summer.

I also have to agree with Hilana. :\

do you prefer these over mac. i love the color of st germain (my absolute favorite color)some of these YSL pink lipsticks look so beautiful and close to that st germain baby pink look i like. i heard these are drying to most people. how would you compare texture and feel to mac amplified creams and is it worth to buy if i already have st germain like if these are too similar or are they different enough in color to buy?

i love this pink. I fell in love when you first published the “YSL RVs are phenomenal!” post (which i discovered way later, lol). I find this pink so very wearable, esp. when compared to the very-mod #7 lingerie pink. That pink – imo – is too chalky. LOVE this! (ps: i’m very tan/dark/hispanic so that might help this look for me also!)

LOOOOOOVE this shade 😀 someone with a sickly white-greenish skin tone like me could pull it off ;;) I always look best in the weirdest shades, like neon dark pink and turquoise eyeshadow n pale-dead lipstick or pale bubblegum
