Neutrogena oil-free face wash, and Johnson’s and Johnson’s Clean and Clear face wash. Those two are so freaking harsh, it left my skin raw. :[

I’ll throw this out there (and I fully expect to get pounced on) – I don’t like St. Ives apricot scrub. It always painfully dries me out, and the exfoliating pebbles are so huge that they just hurt, while leaving my dead skin right where it was before I washed my face, only tighter, dryer, and redder.

Jackie Avatar

i hated St. Ives too! It felt so nasty on my skin,i have dry skin and once i was done with this my skin was so oily. i threw it out, i think i only used it twice.

The best cleanser is origins pure cream, leaves your face super clean!

I totally and completely agree with you! Everytime I use it I feel like I am washing my face with pointy rocks. I am glad it works for alot of people but it is way too harsh for me.

Clinique anything for my face is brutal, but pretty much every other brand is ok so long as it’s not a harsh exfoliator. I can’t understand why Clinique doesn’t work for me! I have such hearty and resilient skin but that brand is just awful! And it’s so expensive, too!

I love the way St. Ives feels when I’m rubbing it on my face, but every time I use it my entire face breaks out in little blemishes. So frustrating!

Uhh.. I forgot exactly what it was called, but its a Neutrogena ‘Deep Clean’ something-or-other, but the creamy one. EWWW, it left such a nasty film on my face, I had to wash it again with something different just to get the nastyness off! And I don’t have oily skin.

I returned it reeeal quick.

hahah i acutally have a neutrogena scrub that i like alot.. but thats just me 🙂
clinique face stuff in general just bugs my skin.i used the toner in the gigantic purple bottle and my skin felt so dry and tight!

Tina Avatar

it did feel super clean! but the weird feeling it left made me not like it. if it didnt have that feeling, i would definitely still use it!

That ‘feeling’ just may be the menthol not agreeing with your skin, trying switching to the Clarifying 1 bottle and see if that might work out a little better for you. If your skin is more normal to oily than step up to Clar. 3. Hope that might help you! (I work for Clinique so this is how I know lol, alot of the time people are just not put in the right skin care system so of course they hate it)

Out of all the bad cleansers I’ve tried, I think I agree with the Clean and Clear for worst cleanser. It’s too strong and the Benzoyl Peroxide is way too high, I think. it felt good and right after I had that cool fresh feeling but later My skin was super dry and irritated, and I have oily skin. It was just BAD.

And I don’t like Cerave cleanser either. It was really smooth and gentle and didn’t break me out but I didn’t feel like my skin was clean at all. Maybe because it’s hydrating and I don’t need the added moisture. Not recommended for oily skin.

I really like my Clinique stuff and I have sensitive skin so sorry to everyone if that didn’t work out for you! I would say Cetaphil is alittle overrated and Clean and Clear doesn’t work for me either.

ALBI I think it the worst. I purchased it from Wal-Mart because it was cheap and had heard a couple of good things about it. SO NOT WHAT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE =( When it gets in your eyes, it feels like your eyeballs are slowly burning away! LOL

The clinique 3 Step system toatlly damaged my face. The cleanser is horrible! I would get these nasty painful zits & that has NEVER happened to me before! I know for a fact that Clinique was literally killing my face because once I switched to my ol’ faithful (CETAPHIL) my skin became zit free once again!

BOO CLINIQUE!!!!!

p-ham Avatar

I actually use and love Clean & Clear (the yellow one for sensitive skin, not the regular harsh one). It’s gentle and doesn’t dry out, but sitll cleans my face well enough. Does anyone disagree? It’s also cheap.

PROACTIVE hands down! Ohh my GOD that stuff is so harch for yoour skin! not to tal about all the discolour towels I now have lol. It took my skin a loooong time to get back to normal after using that stuff for 2 mo. I want everyone to stay away from it. Crazy stuff!
I love my St. Ives Apricot scrub though. I use the one for gentle skin and my skin loves it. I have been using it for over a year now. Clinique is also quite hard on my skin.

Lael Avatar

Proactive was ok while you use it but god forbid you run out of it and don’t have anymore your face will break out waaaayyyy worse, it’s like they make it to where when you start using it you can’t stop or you will look like a pizza face. Bad stuff!!!

I tested this Spa by MTM milky facewash and it literally did NOTHING. it was like rinsing my face with water. The line’s other products are great, but the face wash was supremely disappointing.

When I find a cleanser to be excellent, I tend to remain loyal to it – especially since I am a healthy chemical free person. I may try others, but always return to the one that continues to be excellence year after year. Despite more costly cleansers – the Made from Earth Green Tea Toxin Cleanser has been my cleanser of choice for the last 5 years.

My skin and eyes are extremely sensitive, so I am very cautious with the type of cleanser I choose. This one was recommended by a dermatologist and I’m very grateful for the suggestion. It is extremely gentle, fragrance free and can be used directly on my eyes. I apply it onto my dry face, rub it all over, then rinse it off and pat my face dry. I gave a bottle to my sister and she was impressed, too. In all honesty, I don’t know if she’s returned to using the chanel cleanser, but I am as faithful to the Made from Earth skincare line. If you too have sensitive skin, try the Green Tea Toxin Cleanser for a nice treat – you wont be disappointed.
Also – dont buy at your local Whole Foods. .They are usually overprice their products..its worth it to buy online for the discounts..even with the shipping expense it is cheaper…

Perricone cleanser is just ok, it is not worth $60 and it doesn’t get all your makeup off. If it was $6.99, fine, but it’s not. All his products are grossly overpriced. And my skin looked no different.

Molly Avatar

I have used clinque for years and don’t have a problem with it but its to expensive for the eye makeup remover face wash and the other face wash!! What else is out there to use that isan’t so expensive. I have pretty regular skin!

Rose Avatar

i absoloutely hate cetaphil.
i have no idea why but it completely broke me out and made my skin feel horrible and when i put it on i felt like i was suffocating because its a strange consistency.
I tried clinique and my skin is all goood again 🙂
i love you clinique! 🙂

I have used the Made from Earth Green Tea Cleanser since I was a teenager, when my mom bought it for me. Over the years I’ve tried many, many other cleansers and I always come back to the one from Made from Earth. So, now it is the only one I ever buy.

You can use it two different ways, either by massaging it over your face and then wiping it off with tissue or a wahcloth or rinsing it off with water. It is gentle on my dry sensitive skin and leaves it feeling soft and moisturized. It also removes my makeup, including eyeliner, mascara (unless it’s waterproof), eye shadow, concealer, and face powder, with no irritation. It is very reasonably priced and a bottle lasts me a long time, usually at least 3 months.

I have recommended it to many people who comment on how great my skin looks and feels. I can’t say enough good things about Made from Earth – so glad I found it!
