The Beauty of Natural and Organic Products

Whole Foods Market believes it’s important that what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body. They have an entire beauty and body care area in their stores devoted to delivering the latest and greatest healthy, natural beauty products for their customers. Their Organic Body Care Standards help to ensure the products you’ll find on their shelves are truly as organic as they say–all personal care products with an “organic” claim must be certified by USDA Natural Organic Standards and contain at least 95% organic ingredients. So when you see a label with “organic” on it, you’ll know you’re getting a product that meets their standards and isn’t just capitalizing on a trend.

To create this lip, I first lined lips with Mineral Fusion Graceful Lip Pencil (a warm rosy brown). Then I layered Dr. Hauschka Red Quartz (13) Inner Glow Lipstick, a soft warm red, on top. As a final flourish, I topped off the lip color with a layer of Mineral Fusion Dazzle Lip Gloss, a medium rose with hints of beige. Natural beauty doesn’t have to be boring beauty!

One of the hardest parts for customers when shopping for more natural and organic beauty products is that it can be difficult to suss out who actually means what they say.  The government doesn’t currently require any labeling of organics in skincare, and this is why it’s incredibly helpful that Whole Foods Market has taken the guesswork out of the equation as the first major brand to make accurate labeling a requirement. Whether you’re looking for products for body, hair, skin, or makeup, you’ll find them at Whole Foods Market–and the brands and products they carry aren’t just throwing out buzz words; these brands stand behind their philosophies and embody them at the core. You’ll find brands like Gabriel, Mineral Fusion, Zuzu, Dr. Hauschka, Hemp Originals, and more.

For Northern California locations, Whole Foods is having a 30% Whole Body Makeup Sale from February 13th through February 17th. It would be a fantastic time to browse and get lost in their beauty aisles! And what better way to celebrate than with a giveaway featuring a basket worth $350 of Mineral Fusion?

The All Natural Face!

I think Mineral Fusion is being sold at Zerhs in Canada as well. I keep looking at the packaging on the corner display but I have not heard anything about the brand. (Nice print job on the boxes though 😉 )

Kimberly Avatar

My favorite product is a natural, organic facial moisturizer. It’s meant to be taken in by your skin, so why wouldn’t you want the best for it? 😀

pixie Avatar

I am huge fan of Desert essence products, mainly Jojoba oil and their coconut shampoo/conditioner. Also the brand Naked bee for spf moisturizer and Earth Science.

Susanne Avatar

I love coconut oil for a hair treatment. I was thinking that I should buy more organic lipstiscks – since so much of it ends up in the stomach…

Robin Manrique Avatar

Juice Beauty! It’s the only skin care I’ll use. I’ve had acne since my teens and at 36 I’ve finally found something that works. In three months I have little to no acne and the scarring is starting to fade. You’d have to pry it out of my cold dead hands to keep me from using it.

Joyce Avatar

I love Burt’s Bees chapstick. It doesn’t just sit on top of my lips. It sinks into my lips and moisturizes really well without leaving a buttery feel, which other chapsticks do. I’m not a fan of that buttery texture on my lips because it just makes my lips more chapped and dry.

Alisa Avatar

I would love to try any facial product right now since my skin has been terrible lately and maybe more natural make would be a better option for it

Meagan Avatar

I love using coconut oil on my legs which really softens them and soaks in, my question is this: How well do natural products actually work when you really ad everything up? I mean, that lip is very pretty but if it only looks good for an hour, what’s the point?

Marta González Avatar

Love Burt’s Bees honey lip balm and eye cream. And L’Occitane facial care products and relaxing mists are indeed very good too.

Jay Avatar

I use the juice beauty foundation in ivory and really like the feel on my skin and the color is the closest I’ve come in a brand that isn’t heavy on my skin. I also enjoy coconut oil for my hair and am thinking about getting an argan oil to try eventually.

Jaime Avatar

I have too many favorites. I love Dr. Hauschka’s skincare line, particularly the cleansing cream and melissa day cream. <3 Really seasonal though, the melissa cream is drying during the winter, though weleda has a cold cream that's nice during dry months. (…and Weleda's skin food is AMAZING for my hands.) For makeup, I think I'd have to go with bwc's natural infusion lipsticks.

Ok, I hope you ladies will find this comment helpful:). As an ex- whole body bodycare specialist in whole foods market, can strongly:) recommend the following products to check out:
#1 Dr.Hauschka: love their cleansing cream, clarifying and facial toners; Lip balm – is one of the best products on planet earth (currently trying cle de peau lip treatment, can not really understand if it really works); facial masks (especially their rejuvenating mask. Everything that has borage oil is great for your skin. Neem nail pen – for your nails.
#2 Sanitas skincare line (does not come from whole foods, but is a very clean line – no parabens etc.) Love to alternate this two lines. Sanitas is more like intensive treatment line, versus Dr. Hauschka more like a healing. Check out masks from Sanitas: Papaya enzyme mask; Pumpkin mask; Tea tree oil mask …
#3 For shampoos, check out Earth science brand
Same goes for the eye make up remover.
#4 John Masters Organics is another, but more exoansive great line for hair care. Also LOVE John Masters Lip Balm. So inexpensive, and works Great.
#5. For your body – check out Shikai Borage Therapy. Works Great for your hands as well.
Here are just some of my faves,
Also one more Michelle Vitamin C serum, is great for acneic skin.

I am really wanting to try the Volumizing conditioner. I have tried ones with harsh chemicals to give that extra UMPHH, but lo and behold, I still have dragging, limp, hair.
Your lips look so fresh and nice in that picture. Like literally, so soft.

Ezzah Avatar

I love yes to tomatoes facial cleanser! It really does help with oil control throughout the day especially if you have super oily skin like mine:)

Elizabeth S. Avatar

Actually, my favorite natural beauty product is aloe vera! I use it to help with acne under my moisturizer, and sometimes on top of foundation to help conceal dry spots.

Kate Avatar

The only commercial natural products I’ve tried and liked are lip balms from EOS and Burt’s Bees. I’d love to try other natural beauty products!

megan Avatar

I have very sensitive skin and can only use natural products. Right now my favorite skin cleanser is the coconut oil beauty bar. It leaves my skin supple and glowing.

Jane Avatar

I’ve never jumped the “natural” cosmetics bandwagon, but I love that more and more all-natural brands are making colorful products for people who want (or need) natural beauty!

And I’d say that my favorite natural beauty product is probably something no one on this site has ever heard of: Soap from my hometown’s all-natural handmade family-run indie soap store!

KEG Avatar

One of my favorite natural products is Bite Beauty’s matte lip pencils with resveratrol-beautiful highly pigmented colors that are gorgeous on !!

Angie M. Avatar

I use olive oil and jojoba oil for my face and hair. There are so many uses, but mixed with a little sugar it makes a nice exfoliant for lips. Also use it to remove eye makeup.

kat Avatar

Oils, definitely. I use jojoba or sweet almond oil as my regular face moisturizer, and instead of body lotion. I use coconut oil to remove makeup. So versatile, economical, and you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin. LOVE.

Ann-Marie Robinson Avatar

Burt’s Bees Cuticle Cream has changed my nails completely!! I no longer bite them and now I am able to have nice nails and enjoy using polishes so much more!!:)

Kelly B. Avatar

Josie Maran’s Argan Oil – tried multiple other brands and strongly prefer hers. Man I miss Whole Foods…lived in cities with them for decades and grocery shopping was never so great!

Aida Avatar

From the Mineral Fusion Cosmetics line I adore “Flash” eye shadow. It’s the perfect shimmery mauve, so buttery smooth, perfect pigmentation, blends beautifully and stays on perfectly all day.
In general, I am a big believer in natural/organic make-up and skin care, I stay away from most brands that add bad chemicals and questionable ingredients in their product (my one exception is Burberry, which I adore and allow myself to buy).

Ambritt G Avatar

My fave natural product is Coconut oil I use it for everything on my hair, my body, as a makeup remover its awesome!! Thanks for this giveaway!!!! <3

Chrystie Avatar

I use Orofluido Elixir which contains organic natural oils and gets rid of winter scalp dryness and adds smoothness and shine to my thick hair.

Lisa Avatar

My favorite natural beauty item is Nardo’s Naturals’ Daily Moisturizer. Actually I’m pretty obsessed with their entire collection but I use the moisturizer more often.

Veronica Avatar

The best natural makeup products I’ve tried so far come from Vapour. And in terms of general beauty/ skincare, I like NIVEA products a lot, although they are not 100% natural nowadays
Generally I like anything with Shea Butter and Coconut oil during the colder months.

Ashley Y Avatar

Great contest! My favorite natural beauty product is one that I was recently introduced to: Ilia’s line of tinted lip conditioners. The colors are beautiful, they’re generously pigmented, they make my lips feel soft all day, and I love the sheer finish. They’re my favorite lipstick of the moment!

kk Avatar

100% of my beauty products are natural or organic, and not tested on animals. It’s really important to me to have safe products you feel good about using. My favorite brand is Giovanni . Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

Piper Avatar

I like using natural and organic products especially on my hair. I also agree with many others that you can’t go wrong with Burt’s bees!

Carreen Cole Avatar

I love anything from Tarte and Everyday Minerals.
I have found many natural lip balms that I love, with awesome ingredients like Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, etc.
I always read ingredients and never buy anything with Petrolatum or Mineral Oil!
I dont use Burts Bees because they are owned by Clorox, who does animal testing.
But, I also am getting into using honey and essential oils for skin care 🙂

Shay Avatar

Every single day, I use Jason Organic’s 100% tea tree oil & unrefined shea butter… They almost completely clear up the superficial symptoms of psoriasis & it smells so good.

renu Avatar

In fact, I have the Mineral Fusion Toner, Sunscreen and Shampoo in my amazon wish list, waiting to use up what I have before buying these.

Jennifer Avatar

I love the EO bath and body products at Whole Foods. The French Lavender and Rose & Chamomile bubble bath smell delicious! The products are organic and the company is located near me in Northern California.

Iris Avatar

My favorite natural beauty product is sea salt. I use it in a self-made spray to give my hair texture and I use it when I steam my face to help prevent break outs 🙂

Kristina Avatar

Lip butters and anything for the acne skin, plus its important that they are natural, as im breastfeeding, so im trying to be careful what i put on my skin. Of course for acne skin its not so easy to find what helps. From farmacy they offered me Apivita natural serum for the eyes and after checking, yeah at least 98% were really natural. So if you look, you can find something! Wonderful contest, cross my fingers and toes!

Katie Avatar

I love natural mascara. The regular stuff just never seems to come all the way off. I use makeup remover and face cleanser and still wake up with dark rings under my eyes, ugh!

angela Avatar

I have been looking for a light natural tinted moisterizer. This gift set looks amazing! Would love to win it! So far I have only tried Juice Beauty’s foundation and and found it to be too sticky and hard to apply.

lisa schacht Avatar

I am not familiar with natural makeup, but do enjoy natural skin care/moisturizers. At my age, 53, I need all the moisture I can get. And I really care about supporting earth friendly products.

Leila Avatar

I love 100% pure products, I use the argan oil SPF 30 cream daily. Their bronzer is a miracle as well! I also use the Mineral Fusion volumizing shampoo/conditioner. California babies is what I’ve used with my son since he was born and never had a problem! In fact, his doctor has complemented me on the great condition of his skin. (Super fair like mom, and he’s never had a sunburn) 🙂

Kyomi Avatar

Combining health with beauty is the way to go. I eat healthy and any product I apply on my skin has to be healthy too. I like these products. Thank you!

Angela Avatar

Hi! I am very excited about these products! I don’t Twitter or Facebook (much) to gain more points towards this prize. But I do blog! I could link you to my blog if that’s not breaking any rules. Let me know what your policies are. 🙂

I have been battling dry skin, face, elbows, a little on the feet and would LOVE to try these natural products! I am also finding that even some products I’ve used from the drug store that are made for sensitive skin may not be the best thing for me! I have to reapply moisturizer 2x’s to get enough coverage. Need ‘help’! 🙂

cassandra h Avatar

Looking for a new foundation that will be really moisturizing. I’ve wondered about Mineral Fusion, would love a chance to try it out!

Jenna Fussell Avatar

I love mineral mascara – my eyes are sensitive, and I’ve found it’s the only type of eye makeup that doesn’t cause any irritation!

Nathan Grisham Avatar

I’m entering for my mother. She has had a rough couple of years, and now that she is back to work I want to help her look her best. I think it would be an enormous boost to her self confidence. Since the contest asks to tell our favorite natural beauty products, I personally use a few Jack Black men’s products. I love their black tea blackberry lip balm!

Daphne o Avatar

My absolute FAV is Mineral Fusion powder foundation. It’s the PERFECT shade and seamlessly blends into my skin for a flawless finish. For a dewier look, I spritz with L’Occitane Immortelle Mist after application. Weleda Sea Buckthorn Body Lotion is another favorite!

Julie Avatar

I use foundation & lipstick the most. The lipstick is the most important to me. I love Whole Foods! and have been curious to use their makeup. I will take advantage of this 30% off sale. Good luck to all in winning the basket of mineral fusion. Sounds good. 🙂

Athena Miller Avatar

I only use Natural products because my little one has extreme breathing issues, so I don’t allow scented or chemicallyladen products at home or in her presence!

Theresa Avatar

Honestly organic and mineral is pretty much all I use.Mychelle skin care is amazing.Mineral Fusion eyeliners and eyeshadows are great.Too many good products to mention.Apple cider vinegar is great for removing hairspray buildup.

Sibylle Hartmann Avatar

I love Mineral Fusion Make Up. It has no artificial and chemical ingredients like all other commercial products and it is not tested on animals. Very important to me.

Christine A. Avatar

Love using home DIY facials from organic fruits, veggies, & oatmeal. Sugar lip scrubs are great too. Have many natural makeup brushes that I am loving recently & would love trying more organic makeup lines.

Lori Louise Lawrence Avatar

Is this the entry, or is there an entry form somewhere? This says “comment” but it is unclear as to whether or not this is the official entry method for the gift basket.

Stephanie Singh Avatar

Hello,

My name is Stephanie Singh. I use make up for special occasions, work & sometimes casual days. I really want to win this contest because my wedding is coming up! And this would be the best gift ever to recieve before my wedding day.

Carol Avatar

I LOVE Barleans extra virgin coconut oil. Its good for all kinds of things. I take a shower and then apply all over. The next day my skin is silky smooth. Its good for your hair..etc. Burt’s bees lip balms too.

Natalie Avatar

I think the only natural beauty product I use so far is Burt’s Bees. Does that even count? I would love to experiment with more…every time I go to Whole Foods I think about it, but they’re pricier than my grad student budget allows, so I don’t want to buy them unless I know I’ll like them.

Michelle Jones Avatar

My favourite natural beauty product is mineral based makeups. For someone with very problematic and sensitive skin these products have been a godsend to me!

Genevieve Avatar

I know a lot of people have already said this but I love coconut oil! I do a deep condition with it on my hair and I use it every night as my moisturizer. I was scared to use it on my face because I have a tendency to breakout but it hasn’t caused any problems. I like how it is semi-hard then it softens once it gets a little warm and a tiny bit goes a really long way!

Rebeca Avatar

My favorite beauty product are essential oils. They can be used so many ways and smaell so good and are health enhancing. I oil cleanse and moisturize.

Holly Storm-Burge Avatar

My favorite natural beauty product is actually Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I do the OCM with it and use it with a little scented oil to moisturize my body in the shower 🙂

Nell Avatar

Burt’s Bees Pore Refining Mask is really great. It comes in a powder form and can be mixed with either water or juices (carrot, grapefruit, tomato) depending on your skin type. Very refining without over drying.

Nines Avatar

I would have to say my favorite “Natural Beauty” Product would be Burts Bees Lip Products! I started out with just an obsession with their chapstick, but have grown to love their lip shimmers and was SO excited when they came out with their new lip products this last year!! Admittedly though… I would love to learn more about Natural Beauty products and expand my horizons on them since I’m sure there are LOTS more that are equally as accessible and high quality!

Thanks Christine! This is an awesome giveaway!!

Lauren L. Avatar

Those lips are fabulous! Something tells me though, that it might not work so well with my red hair. But then again…who knows. Is there a dupe or anything close to the Dr. Hauschka lipstick that you can think of off the top of your head?
