Temptalia Asks You - What do you look for in your holy grail moisturizer?
What do you look for in your holy grail moisturizer? What does it have to have?
.
I need mine to be ultra moisturizing without being too thick. I like mine to be quick-absorbing, too–I hate having to wait for a moisturizer to sink in for longer than five minutes. Good value is always nice, too!

Everything Vanishing Cream by Lush is: moisturising, oil controlling, not too thin or thick, soothing… It’s just right and perfect for me <3
I would love to find a moisturizer that doesn’t cause me to break out or make my eyes irritated and red. Still Looking!!
I second this! It seems like EVERYTHING makes me break out. Ugh.
My holy grail moisturizer qualities would have to include: oil controlling, anti-aging properties, glow factor, smooth out skin. I haven
I don’t actually think I’m too picky, but what most moisturizers tend to lack is SPF. And a decent SPF too, ideally 30.
Really? I feel like every moisturizer these days has SPF.
Very moisturizing, I like to let it absorb for 5-15 minutes before makeup. SPF. Anti-aging and anti-oxidant properties. It must move the sun and stars, basically.
It needs to be ultra-moisturizing and quick-absorbing, without leaving an oily film behind. SPF ist a must, too – at least 15. And I like it to be unscented or very lightly and pleasantly scented, because that’s my biggest issue with drugstore moisturizers – they always have such a strong and horribly artificial scent! The texture should be light and creamy, without being too thick. Anti-aging properties are always a plus, as well. I’m still looking…it seems almost impossible to find a really good moisturizer at a reasonable price.
DERMALOGICA 🙂 It just does it all for me 🙂
Has to be oil free so it doesn’t break me out.
Has to have spf of at least 15.
Has to absorb well into my skin.
Has to be skin calming.
Would love if additionally it was a multi tasker that could be used both on my face and my eyes.
An SPF of at least 15, non-greasy
Helps the brightness of my skin
Contains no animal ingredients, and no animal-testing
Uses fair-trade ingredients
That’s hard to find though..at a decent price.
I LOVE A Perfect World moisturizer from Origins. I have tried tons of products from drugstore brands to other department store brands. This product is amazing! It is not exactly cheap, but a little bit is really all you need. If you go into any Origins store or counter, they will give you a sample of any product you choose.
My HG is alba botanica sea lipid daily cream. I need:
– *NO* avobenzene (chemical sunscreen) – I’m allergic
– not greasy
– not heavy (oily skin)
– fast absorbing
– wears well under makeup
– doesn’t break me out
– not heavily fragranced
– not a gazillion dollars
This stuff is *perfect*. And the best part is they carry it at the *grocery store* LOL so it’s super easy to pick up when I run out. 🙂 I’ve started using alba’s jasmine vitamin e cream as a night cream when my skin is dry and it’s great too.
p.s. for those who are aghast that I’m happy there is no sunscreen in this moisturizer, I wear it with avene emulsion spf 50. 😉
I have combination skin, which tends toward both dry and oily spots at the same time which is really annoying — so my moisturizer has to be oil-free (so my oily spots don’t break out) yet very moisturizing (so my dry spots aren’t like sandpaper). this makes shopping for a good moisturizer difficult for me, and I’ve tried many different kinds, but so far the one that seems to work best for me overall is Shiseido Pureness Mattifying Moisture. It leaves my face nice and soft, looking luminous, and I never feel sticky or too dried out.
I believe I have already found my HG moisturizer and these are the benefits I get by using it:
– moisturizing without being thick/greasy
– fast absorbing
– oil-controlling (and does not break me out)
– softens and smooths out skin while minimizing pores
– brightens skin, giving me a youthful glow
– leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh
What moisturiser is it that you’re using? It sounds really good!
light, SPF 30, made for the skin concerns of women of color, softens skin
burts bees daily raydience creme!! best daily moisturizer ever! does NOT IRRITATE SKIN!
i like a gel moisturizer that isn’t too think because i have combo/oily skin. It needs to leave my skin feeling soft and clean! no yucky residue!
I completely agree with your answer! What do you use?
I want a moisturizer that is
-Ultra rich
-Has a cooling sensation
-Fine texture
-Smells good<3
-Fair trade is always nice
This is why I like my Body Shop body butters
I have very oily combination skin, so I want something that will moisturize the dry areas without making my face look super shiny – something lightweight that won’t clog my pores.
I like lightweight moisturizers with SPF. I like it to be oil free and fragrance free. I want it to have antioxidants to fight free radicals, leave no greasy film and to absorb well into skin while keeping it plump. I want a smooth more liquidy texture with a decent amount of water in it.
Right now I love Lancomes Aqua fusion continuous moisture lotion with spf 15. That one is heaven for my combo/dehydrated skin. For more moisture I like Clinique superdefense for Normal to dry skin with spf 25. During the day when I’m feeling a little dry I like Clinique moisture surge for instant hydration.
I love lancomes aqua fusion too!
I recently found my HG moisturiser – I bought 4 tubes of it in a week (it was on sale!) Olay Total Effects Blemish Control.
It’s in a tube, unlike the silly pump things the regular and sensitive Olay Total Effects are in – you have to dismantle those to get the last bits out! It’s not super expensive, you can get it in good supermarkets, pharmacies and department stores, has a nice texture, inoffensive smell, absorbs really quickly and leaves my skin really velvety and soft.
Helps even out skin tone, is anti-aging and controls oiliness.
Works for me!
My skin is normal-oily, so I like my moisturiser to be light in texture but still providing me with a good level of moisture and leaving my skin smooth. I also like my moisturiser to absorb easily. I’m using Olay Complete Care at the moment and I really like it – it’s really nice and cheap as well :o) !
Clarins Moisturisers are really good 🙂
Has anybody experimented with the MAC moisturizers?
I’ve used 4 different ones. Studio Moisture Fix is great for normal to combination skins. It’s pretty hydrating, but I’d still dust some oil controlling powder on problem areas. Studio Moisture Fix SPF 15 is a little more hydrating, and it can be a bit greasy. Not my first pick. Moisturelush Cream is AMAZING for dry skin. It takes a little while to sink in, but it’s well worth it. Oil Control Lotion is pretty good as well. It can be a bit drying, but it really helps if you’re super oily. Some people can’t use their skin care products though, but I think they’re worth a shot. The skin care is great if you don’t want any bells and whistles, just a good moisturizer to go under your makeup. Also, a separate sunscreen should really be used.
I have very picky skin, so I always have trouble finding something that works for all my skin issues. My HG is just plain ol’ aloe gel! I love that it sinks in and doesn’t feel like I have anything on my skin. In the winter I add a drop of oil if I’m really dry. I like simple natural things.
i really love my clinique dramatically different lotion and moisture surge cream from them., i used them like crazy during the winter time when my face got really dry. and i still use them after i wash my face in the morning , b4 i put on my makeup
I want one that relieves dry skin that for me is the most important.
I think I already found my HG Foundation! Tadadadan: Olay Total Effects 7x Anti-aging+Blemish Care Moisturiser. As the name implies, it takes care of blemishes while keeping dullness & wrinkles away too. I’m only 23 and I’m not yet worried about wrinkles & stuff, but with the blemish care, I’m totally giving it a 5 star. I had a horrible breakout after my vacation to India and this moisturiser helped a lot. I was using Retin-A cream so my face was so dry and flaking, this moisturisr kept my sanity hehehe. It took care of the flaking & my skin looked fine even after the horrible peeling & dryness from the Retin-A. My skin now is pimple-free & nose is blackhead-free too! I’m just waiting for the pigmentations to fade away and I think they’re almost gone. I’m now on my 2nd bottle. This foundation has a medium consistency, not too thick nor too thin. It goes on smoothly and is easily absorbed. My skin is very oily & I never used to like foundations because they make me look like a greased pan but this one doesn’t. It keeps my face matte and shine-free. It has very light beige color though(not sure of the word) so if you have a darker complexion, you might feel like the color is too light for you. As for me, I am NC30 and I still feel like it’s too light so I just use it alone when I don’t put makeup on, but when I do, I mix it with my liquid foundation(Maybelline Everfresh Makeup) then follow with my Studiofix powder. I am so satisfied with it!
Oh shoooooott! i was talking about my HG moisturiser not foundation! sorry folks…
Oil-free and light-weight
not sticky or wet, absorbes to a dry finish
no spf
good for sensitive skin/prone to breakouts
I want it to make my dry patches go away! Damn you, dry skin…
I want one that is like really moisturising and doesn’t take ages to sink in. I have one that I don’t particularly like but does an ok job. A couple years ago I had a sorta bad experience when I tried changing moisturisers. It made my skin all flaky and peely which was made worse when I put makeup on. It took weeks for my skin to go back to normal and now I’m just too scared to try any new moisturisers because I do not want anything like that happening again.
