Temptalia Asks You - Are there certain colors/products you won't use during certain seasons?

Are there certain colors/products you won’t use during certain seasons? For example, since it’s spring, do you skip summery colors on the eyes or really bronzed cheeks?

I wouldn’t say I avoid anything, but sometimes I’ll notice something I do is kind of “summery” during a non-summer season or the look is really “fall” like, despite it being summer.

Hey Cristine,

How u ??Yeah…hmmmm…. I wud use bright colours especially in summer days like Electric Eel or like the radiant green with just a gloss to make eyes look more vibrant. And for winters like kinda heavy eyes like cat eyeliners and smoky makeup cuz of colous we wear, u c!!,Like we often wear darker tone colours in winters and lighter tone colours in summer, isnt it???so matter of fact our matching with clothes again comes in between!!!

Hey Christine, I was wondering if its okay with you if I added you to my blog’s link?
And to answer your question, I really don’t have any limit as to any products to use for certain seasons. BUT I do make sure I never use bright colors for a rainy day or any gloomy weather.
Enjoy your week hun

I don’t avoid anything, but I subconsciously pay attention to the Spring. Here in Toronto, it is still hideous, but I have been wearing lots of blues and turquoises with pink lips. If I wear Spring makeup, it will become Spring – lol. In the winter, I usually only wear bronzer when I am wearing warm colors, but once April hits, I start wearing it everyday. It’s not a “rule” that I have, but all of a sudden I think “hey, I need some bronzer”.

i am waiting for summer constantly to put on more heavy bronzer. i really like more dramatic looks in winter or holiday season

As long as the look goes with the colors I’m wearing or the look I’m going for, I don’t really care. I do avoid, like, pink and green combos and other really seasonal things like that unless I have good reason. For example, it’s still about 50 degrees here but it’s been sunny like Spring, so I started spring early and wore my Springtime Skipper with Perky pot. I insist that winter end NOW!

I don’t really pay attention to the season. It’s just whatever mood I’m in. It really depends on what I’m wearing that day.

I don’t avoid doing anything just because it is in the ‘wrong season’. However i do take some inspiration from the season i’m in – simply because i’m paying attention to my clothes.

I don’t so much pay attention to it as a rule but I do notice that I tend to stay away from red lips during the summer time. I think summer calls for more pink glosses and a less made up look. Red lips goes really well with a herringbone skirt, a white blouse and a wintery look 🙂 If I was going to rock red lips during the summer I would do it with a gloss instead of lipstick.

i suppose i’d feel quite odd wearing dark blue or dark purple eyeshadow in summer. so i usually do more pale or bronze/gold colours during summer days, but for night time anything goes!

Wow, your doing so much work on your site. It’s looking fantabulous!
I agree with the other ladies,I don’t use dark lips in the summer, And I tend to keep the entire look at little lighter for Spring and summer months.I think everyone looks a little better with some sun(either fake or real tan) therefore I don’t do foundation for summer(it always falls off) anyways), but maybe a little tinted moisturizer(with spf, of course) if I feel the need.

I agree with some of the others above, no dark lips in summer and no heavy bronzer in winter. I like a more natural look in the summer months. PS – your site looks great!

I WOULD WEAR ANYTHING ANYTIME! its fun to break the rules and play with d seasons a bit and the result can sometimes b amazing … for example i noticed there was a lotta glitter and red lips on the spring summer 08 catwalks and as we all know heavy glitter and red lips usually belong in the fall/winter domain, however the effect was really beautiful i think. i wear bronzer all season round too, it really doesnt matter as long as u are comfy with yourself and ur own look.

In late spring/summer, I don’t wear foundation or eyeshadow, but I do wear bronzer, but I usually wear peachier “warmer” colors for blush etc., because it goes with my tanner skin much nicer. In the winter, I usually wear foundation and eyeshadow, no bronzer, and some “cooler” colors. But I don’t really follow these rules ALL the time. It really depends on my mood.
