I bought a single of cherry blossom last year. Lovely color, medium to opaque coverage in a swipe or two, the case is metal and feels nice in the hand, but the bullet of lipstick is VERY firm. If you like how Charlotte Tilbury applies, you might like the feeling. I’ll finish it, but I prefer a softer applying lipstick (YSL Rouge Pur Couture is a favorite for me). FWIW.

The packaging is beautiful and I really like the colors. I’ve heard some people say these are a bit drying (and my lips tend to lean towards the dry side) so that makes me nervous to try them – especially since they are a definite splurge. Then you’ve got the other spectrum of people who love these. Curious to see what you think if this ends up getting reviewed!

Why does it always work out that there are shades within each group that you like and some you really don’t and would never use? In any event, the cost is prohibitive if you aren’t going to use all three shades. The bullet has a weird shape also. The tip isn’t flat but convex which wouldn’t be great for precise lip line placement. I haven’t loved the few makeup products Tatcha has released so, I am passing. I do love a few shades, though. Lipsticks are my downfall!

That’s always the way, I also find. Same holds true for cheek and highlight palettes – there’s usually one shade (if not more) that makes these not an ideal purchase for me. I’m sure these will be around $150 in Canada and that’s just too high a price for one or two shades that will flatter me and one or two that I won’t use.

I purchased Kyoto Red when it first came out, and one of the blossoms but can’t recall which. The shades are gorgeous, but these were the most drying lipsticks I’ve ever used – worse than lots of liquid lipsticks in my opinion! Kyoto Red also didn’t last much longer than an hour on me, without eating or drinking. I’m always tempted, but have to remind myself of the dry lips!!
