Launch Date + About the Launch

From the editor: For the holidays, Tarte has released a slew of sets and kits available at retailers (some exclusive) for eyes, lips, cheeks, and more. The Amazonian Clay Blush Set is likely to be a crowd favorite, and I’m personally looking forward to the four-shade Chrome Shadow Paint set!  Let me know what you’re most looking forward to and/or what you’d like to see reviews on (and what I should skip!) — as always, I can’t review everything but I like to review what readers want to see as much as possible!

I’m very interested in the blush stacks; they look like great value for the price! I find the concept of having a bunch of things stacked way more fitting for cheek products, where I want a few colours at most, than eyeshadow, where I want many shades to create a wide range of looks (ie. Melt, Kaja shadows)

The value is certainly there, which I love (hey, Hourglass – see why I don’t buy your products anymore!!!) but I have so much makeup that unless something is really outstanding and unique (and is something I will actually use), it is getting easier and easier for me to skip these holiday releases. Five or ten years ago, I’d probably have purchased the Collectors’ Set and maybe even one of the cheek sets but now – I just don’t need it cluttering up my storage space or my head. These are really nice offerings and values, though, for folks newer to makeup.

Another set, similar to the Clinique, in which if you get it (both, in the case of Clinique) you have many bases covered in one fell swoop. Great for people building collections. I need zero, but great blush options so far this holiday.

I had been boycotting Tarte and just recently re-evaluated my prejudice against them and decided it was time to let it go. Consequently, a lot of these products interest me. I have to say, Elfing and Selfing has to be one of the cutest names for the holidays! As far as reviews, I would love to see how the foils, the blushes and the chromes perform. The “whole face” palettes from Tarte have been pretty bulky in the past and I did purchase one many years ago. I just didn’t find myself reaching for it and would never travel with it due to it’s bulky packaging. I also found that a lot of Tarte shadow shades were so repetitive (similar to Too Faced) that once you had one palette you pretty much had seen the shade range. The Rainforest of the Sea round palettes did have some nice shades.

Chrome For The Holidays and Elfing & Selfing are making me giggle – so cute!

I like the concept of the blush stack set but I shudder to think what our NZD retail is going to be – I don’t own any Tarte yet but if that set isn’t too unreasonable (and doesn’t sell out in a hot minute) then I may indulge…

These all look amazing! I was checking them out earlier on Ulta’s site… The blush set is so sleek, the lip ornaments set is gorgeous (probably the only thing I’ll consider picking up), and the lip glossary seems like it would make a great gift.

These all look so lovely. I’ve been on a low/no buy for so long and now my Mother is battling Small Cell Stage 2 Lung Cancer I have no interest in make up at all, my days are centered around her meds and care and spending as much time with her as I can.

ShariP Avatar

Brendacr1, I am so sorry that you and your mother are going through this horrible disease. I’ve worked in a cancer center for the last 14 years and I know from personal experience that its hard to watch your loved ones go through this. Don’t forget to take care of yourself too. I’ll keep you both in my prayers.

Thank you ShariP, I worked in a cancer centre for 25 years and I thought I would be able to be focused and competent with handling this but now being on the other side it feels so foreign to me and I feel quite helpless against this stupid disease. But I have four wonderful sisters and we are all pulling together to get through this and self care is one thing that we are making sure that we are all getting and our husbands are being absolutely amazing. Thank you for your prayers, we just don’t want her to suffer.
