How has your purchasing decision making changed over time?

How has your purchasing decision making changed over time?

I pay more and more attention to the likelihood that I will have 1) time to review and 2) that there’s good reason to review it! I’m trying really hard not to over-buy.

What do you look for in a good setting powder?

What do you look for in a good setting powder?

I want something that helps to lock my foundation in place for a little longer than it would last on its own but isn’t so powdery that it either lightens (or darkens) my base nor makes it look so matte and cakey. It should be very translucent/sheer with a very finely-milled texture.

What kind of coverage do you prefer in your foundation?

What kind of coverage do you prefer in your foundation?

I like medium, buildable coverage; I’d like to be able to sheer it out a little if preferred or easily build it up to full coverage without it getting too heavy or cakey. I probably could get away with light to medium coverage, though, but I just find medium to be faster to apply to my liking...

Do you wear shades that aren't "flattering" on you?

Do you wear shades that aren't "flattering" on you?

Yes, absolutely! I wouldn’t slather them all over my face 24/7, but sometimes, it’s just about pretty colors and putting them together and less how it looks on me specifically.

Are you a minimalist or a maximalist or neither?

Are you a minimalist or a maximalist or neither?

I’m more maximalist than minimalist, but I’d like to think I’m somewhere in the middle on a spectrum between the two, though I’d lean more maximalist. I definitely don’t have nor do I aspire to have the least possible. I really, really like variety in terms of color, finish, texture,...

If you could only keep five items from your makeup collection, what are the first five that come to mind?

First five that came to mind (and upon a more careful examination, it might not be the real list, but the fun is in what you first think of!) — Marc Jacobs Flesh & Fantasy Air Blush (huge go-to cheek color for me, feels like it goes with everything!), Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation, Urban...

If you had to get rid of five items from your makeup collection right now, what would they be?

If you had to start your collection over, how would you approach it?

If you had to start your collection over, how would you approach it?

I would start by repurchasing my very favorite, holy grail products starting from the basics and anything I’d wear more than a couple of times a week. This would include foundations (probably two formulas, as I tend to prefer fuller coverage but also like something a little lighter but more than...

If you could start your collection over, would you? Why or why not?

If you could start your collection over, would you? Why or why not?

I’m going to pretend I’m not a blogger or else this answer will be super boring and blah, but I’m going to assume I have as much stuff as I do. I would. I would painstakingly go through a lot of what I have and “start over” more by actually taking stock of what I have, what I really...

What type of packaging is a deal-breaker in skincare?

What type of packaging is a deal-breaker in skincare?

I like pumps over jars for most things, but I don’t mind making sure my hands are clean or using a spatula with a jar, so it’s not a deal-breaker for me, though I know it is for many others. I get annoyed at any packaging that is impossible to open to get the last bits out, particularly...
