How did you learn to apply makeup?

How did you learn to apply makeup?

Trial and error for the most part! I read through some photo-by-photo tutorials here and there, but it was largely just trying to replicate the type of placements/styles I saw others posting on Livejournal’s mac_cosmetics community.

What eyeshadow palette would you recommend to someone new to makeup?

What eyeshadow palette would you recommend to someone new to makeup?

Just about any palette from ColourPop–pretty good quality, easy to use, and affordable. There are so many to choose from, too–I’d say Double Entendre, Give It to Me Straight, or You Had Me at Hello would be good picks. I also enjoy several of their other palettes but find that they may be...

What was the best advice you’ve received on skincare?

What was the best advice you’ve received on skincare?

Expensive isn’t always better–you don’t always get what you pay for, and exaggerated claims abound in the industry. The first bit resonates me as I’ve tried a plethora of products from affordable to jaw-dropping in price, and aside from efficacy for the price, I’ve also come to appreciate...

What part of your beauty routine makes you feel more confident?

What part of your beauty routine makes you feel more confident?

For me, it’s definitely putting on foundation. I just really like how even my skin looks post-foundation that it always makes me feel a little “me but better” in a way.

What kind of makeup would you wear for a job interview?

What kind of makeup would you wear for a job interview?

I’d opt for something fresh-faced, luminous but not oily, and neutral all-around. Very “no makeup” makeup but certainly a lot more than one would think, haha. Unless, of course, it was an interview that was driven by makeup skills, then I’d go much bolder/colorful as appropriate, but...
