How do you feel about mini sizes in skincare?

How do you feel about mini sizes in skincare?

It depends on how mini; I like the idea of smaller, more travel-sized options, so there is enough product to give it a good go but doesn’t feel like one or two uses.

How do you feel about mini sizes in makeup?

I like them overall, especially for those of us who have plenty of products already, then it gets harder and harder to finish any particular shade, so sometimes I’d rather just pay less for less even if the price per ounce is higher.

How do you make sure you use all of your makeup products?

How do you make sure you use all of your makeup products?

I don’t! Since most of the time I wear makeup, I’m testing new products, I don’t return to that many products over time, so a lot goes unused beyond that initial testing. What I try to do is these days is to be more discerning and honest about purchasing products to review, so if I know I’m...

Are you concerned about finishing makeup products (in general)?

Are you concerned about finishing makeup products (in general)?

I try to finish skincare products as long as they’re working for me, and I’m not bothered by their scent, but for makeup, I don’t buy with the expectation of finishing–in a way, I know I won’t, so I’m less bothered by smaller amounts than some consumers might be.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the products you own?

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the products you own?

Oh, absolutely! I have a ridiculous amount of product because this is what I do as a job, and the volume of what comes in and goes out is overwhelming. Whenever I feel this way, I try to sort or organize to help tidy areas up or to shift product out (for donation/giveaway).

Are you concerned with the size of your collection?

Have you ever gone on a low- or no-buy?

Have you ever gone on a low- or no-buy?

Not so much in beauty, since the nature of what I do is largely about buying new releases, but I’ve definitely done it in other areas of my life. For beauty, I have soft limits, like I have enough lip products to review so I will be more careful about buying any more until I’ve made some...

What's the first thing you do with a new makeup purchase?

It gets sorted out into whether it’s something I expect to review imminently vs. soon-ish – the latter being less definite but in the next month or so!

What was the last product you struggled with? Did you get it to work?

What was the last product you struggled with? Did you get it to work?

Rare Beauty Faith was a real bear to work with – I just could not get an even application of product (despite the other shades being lovely!). I did not get it to really work!

Is makeup more functional or more of a creative outlet for you?

Is makeup more functional or more of a creative outlet for you?

I want to say it’s more of a creative outlet for me because I really love wearing makeup, period, whether that’s at home just for me or not, but often, it is more functional day-to-day since it is about testing and reviewing.
