Coral Blush

Hard to do anything but rave over coral blushes for me… perhaps my only “rant” is that a lot of the ones that release are very, very similar.

I find they offer really opaque coverage with thicker consistencies that do well for smoothing out the area, but they sometimes seem to crease more readily on me and take some practice (and the right applicator/product) to set as they are already thick.

From my experience, they can be less pigmented if they’re thinner (but easier to spread, though they can be streaky if you’re not careful), whereas they can be really pigmented but harder to spread if they’re thicker.

When they’re done right, they can give the skin a great, natural finish that doesn’t look powdery, flat, or heavy, but sometimes they can look oily, slide off the skin easily, or have more visible shimmer particles!

They’re almost always a product that performs well for one but not both, so I’d rather buy a unitasker in this instance. It’s hard to get something that’s hydrating/emollient for lips that doesn’t then slide off on cheeks!

Wet/Dry Eyeshadow

I don’t mind if I have to use an eyeshadow with a damp brush, but then the eyeshadow needs to stay intense even when it dries down–if it looks faded, then it’s an extra, unnecessary step! I do prefer eyeshadow that is still semi-opaque dry, though, as it is easier to use and build-up or blend with damp eyeshadow.

Full sets are amazing (assuming there is some incentive for purchasing those colors altogether), and I like minis that aren’t too small. When they’re minis, I just don’t want them to be so small that the bullet easily breaks from the base.

It’s pretty rare that I’m excited for one, but I tend to lose really small samples like deluxe sized skincare packets or the like. I probably have enough makeup bags for six or seven generations. I like when they’re larger, more travel-friendly sized versions of products I already love, because then those are useful for traveling by plane. If it’s a single full-sized product, I think that is nice as well.

I like ones that are really smooth and fluid, where you don’t have to go over the same line once. I definitely prefer more of the felt-tip or calligraphy pen style applicators over the traditional brush!
