Plum Lipstick

I don’t know if there’s a type of plum that I don’t enjoy seeing! I like warmer and cooler-toned plums, and I find finishes from matte to metallic intriguing.

Red Lipstick

I love a great, blue-based red lipstick that is still bright but not insanely bright. I’m not a huge fan of matte red unless it’s a deeper, more muted red (like MAC Viva Glam I).

All love! The only “rant” I have is that I tend to prefer a little pink in my coral so more orange-coral and red-coral doesn’t get as excited.

Fall Collections

I think I’m ready for fall collections… I really want to see traditional, autumnal tones! Some years, I might not be ready and they come too soon, but this year, I just haven’t grooved with summer launches like I normally do.

Beauty Retailers

I love how much variety is available online, and since I don’t mind purchasing blind or online, I also like how a lot of products release online faster than in stores. A lot of retailers could stand to improve their reward/loyalty programs–there are a lot of choices to purchase from, so it makes me less loyal without something extra to keep me purchasing more from one place. I think the only retailer that does a really good job with their reward program is Ulta.

The best is the creativity and freedom that the brands have to put out exactly the type of products they think are missing from the industry. The worst is dealing with drama and entrepreneurs who either do not know how to run a business and/or take everything personally.

Drugstore Brands

They’ve come a long way since I’ve started using makeup,
but there are still some products that are lacking (I think powder eyeshadow and blush are the two that immediately come to mind–there are some winners but a lot of losers!). I wish there was a better selection online (or was more consistent)
as it can be hard to track down limited edition products in person (at least for me!).

High-End Brands

I like a mix of what’s more accurately termed mid-end along with high-end. I think that these brands often know how to get better textures out of their products than more affordable brands when it comes to powder and sometimes skincare. I feel like there are a lot of gimmicks and some puffery at this level,
though, and while there’s no excuse for inconsistent or poorly developed products, there are certainly plenty that you can waste your money on.

Some of it is just so over-the-top in price but am not sure that you’re getting anywhere near the quality you should for the price or the packaging doesn’t strike me as “worth it” for that price. I also feel like sometimes you get less pigmentation (but I think it is intentional) without the brand making that clear (Cle de Peau comes to mind), more often with this tier.
