Huda Beauty Rose Gold Remastered Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.59 oz.) is a new, updated take on the brand’s original Rose Gold palette, which had some mixed reviews (I rated it a C-, for reference). The formula used for the metallic shades is very different compared to the original as well as other shimmer eyeshadows from the brand–they feel and perform more like a cream eyeshadow (by touch alone, they felt like a dense, thicker cream eyeshadow–like a denser take on MAC Cream Colour Bases to me). As they seemed to be more cream than powder, they move in the pan and will show indentations from fingertips or brushes, and they are better applied with fingertips or flat, synthetic brushes (like a MAC 242). Here’s a sneak peek at swatches while I work on testing the shades:

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! I’ll be curious to read how well these wear. The texture sounds like it could be lovely or could be really annoying. In any case, there are maybe 4 shades in here that I’d wear and the others are just big, fat “NO’s” for me.

I absolutely bought this primarily for the left hand side of the palette. Dubai, that dirty gold, is such a great colour for me. Golds are usually difficult, this one is perfect. Suede and Demure are nice crease colours. I tried Sandalwood today, but not happy with the way it pulls on me… I love Risque because it is duskier and yet still an intense shadow. The metallics required a bit of work and I found packing with MAC 239 over ABH beauty genius (ugh discontinued? or just in Canada?.. I cannot get it here) works well. I prefer
ABH BG far over Glitter Glue. If anyone has another recommendation? I’m pulling at bits from the bottom of my tube.

Unfortunately, it’s discontinued. I also loved the product and was so disappointed when I found out it was being discontinued.

Karina, the original was discontinued. Huda reintroduced the palette with reformulated shadows and some new ones. She made a statement that she couldn’t invest heavily in packaging or innovation.

With the one lone exception of Bubbly, I absolutely love how this version applies in the arm swatches! If it works this beautifully in actual practice, I’m so getting it! I am imagining the looks I could get out of this, and even though still in that whole warm neutral vein, much more complex shimmers than other similar themed palettes.

While this palette looks gorgeous, reviews on Sephora discuss how the shimmer shades are significantly indented. That doesn’t appear to be the case here — right, Christine?

The edges of a few shades seemed to rise over the edge of the pan and then flattened after a couple of uses since, as I mentioned in the beginning of the post, there were several shimmers that felt more like a cream eyeshadow than a powder one so if you pushed something into it, the eyeshadow would hold that shape and the product would compress/move based on the pressure.

I swatched this palette at Sephora, and it seemed as if some of the shadows literally deflated after I touched them. They were a different sort of “texture” too. I just thought about how many similar colors I have that I really should be using up. Some of these shades are so pretty, but I can’t justify buying it because I have so many similar colors. I did pick up a backup of ABH Modern Renaissance since I have hit pan on 7 of the pans. I have put it back in my rotation of UD Heat and UD Naked 3. These three palettes have been my favorites lately.

That eye look looks rich and delicious but some of those swatches look like they need a little upmh. Will await review!

I can’t wait for the review! I never bought a Huda palette, I’m not sure if worth the hype. But I really hope this is better than the first one.

I have a few including the original. I’ve never had any issues and they look and wear beautifully. I and lays go in w a light hand and build my colors no matter that brand. Her pigments are lovely. And her shimmers, foils, metals and glitter are gorgeous.

Still don’t understand how there is no actual Rose Gold shade in a Rose Gold palette with an eyeshadow of the same name!

I purchased this before I went on my no-buy as I didn’t get the original but did buy the Desert Dusk palette and loved those shadows. I haven’t had a chance to apply to my eyes yet but have finger swatched a few of the shades. In my limited experience with the Desert Dusk palette, the shadows applied better to my eyes than they swatched on my arm. I feel like overall these shades swatched better for me than the Desert Dusk palette, with the exception of Bubbly I think they all swatched well. If I am going to use warm toned shades I prefer they pull pinker/rose gold than orange and this palette seems to fit the bill. I love the golds in here as gold is a difficult color for me to pull off given my very grey/white hair. These golds are a bit more complex and for whatever reason, look okay on me, at least from swatches. We will see when I get them on my eyes.
The eye look is killer, Christine, just as always.

I did not buy the original because of the mediocre reviews. I might pick this up if it gets a good rating from you. My one complaint about this colour scheme is almost everything is a midtone, which makes it really hard to build depth. In a palette of 18 shades I would expect at least 3 very light to light toned shades in matte and shimmer.

I own the original and don’t hate it (don’t love it either). It would have been nice if she had come up with a Rose Gold 2 or something that was different and unique so those of us who bought the original version don’t feel shortchanged 🙁

The only swatch that looks a bit disappointing is the black (and a good black is really necessary for the looks that Huda does).
Other than that this palette has like every color I’d ever want & I’m buying it for all my nieces & I!
