Best shimmery brown eyeshadow? My favorite is probably L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Amber Rush. This is one of my favorite eyeshadows I have in my entire collection. It’s so easy to use and so affordable!
Best matte brown eyeshadow? This is hard. I guess my go-to is Semi-Sweet from the TooFaced Chocolate Bar Palette.
Best brown eyeliner? I don’t really use brown eyeliner. I do have a Sephora Contour Eye Pencil in Taupe and I enjoy that, but I don’t use it much.
Watch us all split hairs by undertones and darkness and whatnot ? So I’ll just go with all-time favorites!

Unless something else comes along that is as spectacular, my eyeshadow answers will be Viseart. The matte and shimmer browns in the Neutral Matte and the Sultry Nude respectively are the best I’ve EVER used. All of them. (The shadows don’t have names.) I will say that MAC Brown Script was a many year favorite too.

I’ve been using the KVD tattoo liner. I love the Trooper color. The brown is OK. I’ll be interested in reading what others recommend.

Your skin tone/coloring: Fairest neutral. Been trying out the YSL Encre de Peau Cushion Foundation and the colour’s not bad but I’m really liking the formula! The colour is 10 I think.
Best shimmery brown eyeshadow? The Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in New Moon is definitely one of my favourites. ?
Best matte brown eyeshadow? Handwritten by MAC. Such a great deep brown in a lovely formula!
Best brown eyeliner? The brown side of the Estée Lauder DoubleWear Stay-in-Place eyeliner in Onyx/Coffee. I’m not sure if Coffee comes as a standalone product but it probably does. I like having the double-ended eyeliner though, it’s great for travel, especially since its been used a lot and it’s now much smaller than when it was new! However it’s not always easy to get your hands on.

Best shimmery brown eyeshadow? Shimmery browns are my favorite, so I have countless iterations! UD Toasted is a favorite, as is Bobbi Brown Telluride highlighter used on the eyes.
Best matte brown eyeshadow? I love MAC Soft Brown for the crease.

Skin tone: Medium Warm (MAC NC 30)
Best shimmery brown eyeshadow: I cannot pick one. Some favorites are Burn and West from the Urban Decay 2015 Spectrum palette, Antique Bronze from the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette, MAC Woodwinked, and LANCOME’s Smoldering Cocoa.
Best matte brown eyeshadow: I LOVE Cyprus Umber from Anastasia’s Modern Renaissance palette, and often reach for Anastasia’s Fudge and Hot Chocolate. I also like Whiskey from Urban Decay’s Naked Smoky Palette.
Brown eyeliners: I love Urban Decay’s Whiskey, Roach, and Scorch eyeliners.
Your skintone/ coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones MAC NC37 (winter), deep brunette, teal-green eyes w/gold flecks.
Best shimmery brown eyeshadow: Colourpop “3”, UD Roach and West, and the entire righthand row of MUFE Nudes You Need!
Best matte brown eyeshadow: MAC Folie, No Me Queda Mas from MAC x Selena, plus the beautiful matte brown shades in ABH Mod Ren palette!
Best brown eyeliner: Nyx Slide-On Waterproof Liner in Brown Perfection. Although I rarely ever use brown liner, this one is great for making a smokey, smudged out lashline when I feel like going grungey 90’s.
Nancy I am so pleased with the Me Queda Mas eye shadow! I initially thought it looked so bland and ordinary in the pan but after applying, found it to be so pretty. It has become one of my favorites that I use as a transition shade. It also looks pretty alone. 🙂

Skin Tone/Coloring: Neutral porcelain with cool-leaning features (eyes, lips, hair).
Best Shimmery Brown: Since it’s not a color I use very much, I don’t have great recall on favorites. But for sure MUFE makes some fantastic ones (Reptile which is like a greenish-gold brown proper olive green but it’s brown enough for me haha, Graphite Brown, Iced Brown, Black Bronze, etc) which are definitely some of my most-used. Viseart of course has some lovely brown shimmers. UD Roach is a classic. Definitely Tom Ford’s cream shadow in the Spring 2015 shade. I’m sure some more I’m forgetting haha.
Best Matte Brown: This one I’ll of course have to narrow down to some top picks. I won’t bother naming all the MUFE Artist Shadow matte browns I love because they have great ones for every purpose. From UD it’s probably Suspend from Vice XX because it is an amazing contour/shaping color. One I’m genuinely in love with (which is very rare for me with brown) is for sure Castle on the Hill from SP’s Edward Scissorhands palette. It’s a beautiful chocoately-espresso with strong cool tones that make it almost purple. Beautiful color.
Favorite Brown Liner: MUFE’S Artist Liner has an amazing matte brown (I believe M-50/Matte Bright Brown) that is absolutely perfect. KVD’s Mad Max is my favorite liquid.
Skintone/Coloring – Fair (MAC NW15-18, I guess), with pinky undertones. (and overtones, and everywheretones. I should have just said “I’M SO PINK”)
Best Shimmery Brown Eyeshadow – Does Synergy from KVD count? I really don’t EVER use shimmery browns, so that’s literally the ONLY one I have in my collection. (And I only have it because of the MetalMatte palette!)
Best Matte Brown Eyeshadow – Castle On The Hill from Sugarpill. SO GLAD THEY MADE THIS PERMANENT — I was scared to use it! It’s such a great color for cutting a deep yet natural eye crease — I feel like it’s sort of a dupe of Vanity from the Jeffree Star Beauty Killer Palette, (They both have deeper colors with undertones that lean on the cooler side) but it performs WAAAAY better. It’s even good as a contour color if you’re deep enough in skintone (or even if you’re just a drag queen, like me!)
Best Brown Eyeliner — OCC Sebastian Cosmetic Colour Pencil. This is an awesome medium cool-toned brown pencil, and it’s so versatile! You can use it on face/body/lips/eyes/up/down/side-to-side — you name it! I love using this guy to fill in my brows because it comes off almost like a light shadowy color, which is nice for making brows appear less sparse!

Best matte brown eyeshadow? MAC Charcoal Brown or, lately, Sephora Roasted Chestnuts or Cashmere Coat (this latter is lighter but matte and so good)
Best brown eyeliner? Sephora Cappucino Contour Pencil or Marc Jacobs Brown(out) but I also like a very cheap self sharpening one from Annabelle and Truly Brown from GOSH.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair-light with neutral undertones (I wear MUFE Ultra HD R230–if anyone knows the MAC equivalent, please let me know!); brown hair; gray-green eyes.
Best shimmery brown eyeshadow? MUFE D652 Celestial Earth.

My guess would be NW20 in Mac. Suggest you check the foundation matrix here on Temptalia. It’s good to know you Mac #, bec it’s often used as shorthand for your skin tone on blogs, Reddit, etc.
Thank you! I used the matrix before and could have sworn I’d seen more of a range there, but now it is looking solidly like an NW15 or NW18 (I’m guessing the latter). I got the same results for MUFE HD R230 and for Guerlain Lingerie de Peau (older version) Beige Pale and Rose Clair, which have been my favorite foundations, so yay–I finally have it narrowed down! Thanks again!

Best shimmery brown eyeshadow? I have so, so many. A few favorites are Urban Decay Sidecar, Kat Von D Synergy (I got the MetalMatte palette in the mail yesterday and I’ve already fallen in love with it! Especially Synergy, which I’m wearing today)
Best matte brown eyeshadow? Makeup Geek Creme Brulee is definitely my most used, while Cocoa Bear is another fave
Best brown eyeliner? Urban Decay Whiskey is by far my most used! I also like the Rimmel Scandaleyes in Brown for a more affordable option
My skin tone is quite fair with yellow undertones (NC15). I don’t use any shimmery brown shadow. My favorite matte brown would be MAC Wedge and the only brown liner I use now is Bonne Bell Espresso pencil (have used for 30+ years). I did use a Clinique Crème Liner in Brown at one time but it’s discontinued.
They still make that Bonnie Bell e/l? I had the brown and grey version and wore it religiously in my younger years!

Best shimmery brown eyeshadow?: MAC Woodwinked is a light/golden brown on me. And I also LOVE MAC Mulch!!!
Best matte brown eyeshadow?: MAC Wedge! 😀 I’v praised this shadow many a times, here! It’s a matte cool leaning light brown! It could be a great transition because it’s not INTENSELY pigmented. But it’s still pigmented enough to be a beautiful crease shade on me!
Best brown eyeliner?: I don’t own a brown eye liner! I only own one black gel liner, a black liquid liner, and a sparkly green liquid liner! I have some pretty dark brown eyes. So I find most brown liners look slightly off?? With my dark eyes!

~NW 20-25. If you count taupe, mufe crystalline gray beige is prob my top shimmer ever. If it has to be a true brown, let me just thank Christine again for Monarch palette, the only browns that don’t muddify, both shimmer and matte. Any others are in mufe palettes, or last year’s MJ 20. The only brown single I remember buying in ~25 years is a Catrice matte..jump up and brown. It’s taupe toned. Do like the red toned browns as well, but don’t use them much, like roach & others from vice palettes. Naked 1: Not: like wrestling with mud. Like red browns in pencils too: roach, 1999. Any UD brown that goes with the look is a possibility. Don’t favor gold browns, but isn’t there one in bijoux that could change my mind?

Best shimmery brown eyeshadow? Bobbi Brown Beach Bronze Cream Shadow is a great option for an easy everyday wash of colour that won’t budge. I like Nars Fez and Burberry Midnight Brown as well!
Best matte brown eyeshadow? Don’t think I have one! Probably just any matte brown in the palette I’m using at that moment, idk I can’t tell the difference tbh – it’s just going in my crease anyway. I actually just use my bronzer in the crease day to day but I have Burberry Dark Sable in a single and I like that for extra smokiness.
Best brown eyeliner? I use Armani Smooth Silk eye pencil in #2 everyday and smudge it out for a soft smoky eye. I also love Nars Via Appia for a shimmery budge-proof option and Bobbi Brown Espresso Gel Liner.
