Survey Says... June 20th, 2018
Happy Wednesday! Here's this week's survey, which you can copy and paste and share as a comment.
- Your skin tone/coloring:
- Last skincare product you changed?
- Last time you changed foundations?
- Last time you changed your hair style?
Your skin tone/coloring: Light neutral, green eyes, dark hair with silver
Last skincare product you changed? I switched from Clinique’s All About Eyes to Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream. I think the Kiehl’s might just be my HG eye cream!
Last time you changed foundations? Last permanent change was a a few years ago when I switched from Revlon ColorStay to Estee Lauder Double Wear (what a difference!). I still “cheat” on EL sometimes to try something different, but I always come back to Double Wear.
Last time you changed your hair style? Last month. I went from shoulder length to chin length. Not sure if I’ll keep it or let it grow out yet, but it’s great for summer. I’m never afraid to try new hairstyles—I get bored easily. I don’t know if anyone remembers Crissy Dolls, but you could change the length of the hair by pushing a button. I’ve always wished that I could change my hair length that easily! 😉
Yes, I do remember Crissy dolls, Seraphine! Wish that her hair change-up feature was a real life option. Perhaps color changing, too…?
I still have my Chrissy doll…in the original box too.
Wow! I remember there was a blonde version, too, because my younger sister had that one. And she actually cut its hair. Lol!!!!
Your skin tone/coloring: fair-light / cool
Last skincare product you changed? serum, changed to Caudalie Radiance Serum for the hot months
Last time you changed foundations? last weekend, trying Chanel Les Beiges
Last time you changed your hair style? er, several years. It’s a classic style that I’ve unkept for a while now.
Your skin tone/coloring: light to medium with yellow undertones, dark brown eyes, black hair
Last skincare product you changed? Daytime moisturizer. It was Garnier MoistureBomb or something but now I use Shiseido Benefiance
Last time you changed foundations? mm maybe now. I’m probably putting aside liquid foundations (WNW Photo Focus, Maybelline Matte & Poreless) for loose mineral foundation (TruthGirl) over the summer.
Last time you changed your hair style? Oh gosh like 2009?? I used to dye it a reddish brown with side swept bangs. Now it’s just long, slightly layered natural black always in a ponytail or messy bun. I know none things about hair. I also care none perfect about hair.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light Medium with warm (yellow) undertone (MAC NC 20-25)
Last skincare product you changed? I switched from the First Aid Beauty Retinol Serum (0.25%) to the Paula Choice 1% Retinol Serum. My skin definitely missed the higher retinol concentration, the FAB one was too milf for me.
Last time you changed foundations? 03/27/2018 (yes, I keep track of product opening dates) when I started using the Maybelline SuperStay Long-Lasting Full Coverage Foundation (great foundation, but not as long lasting and full coverage as they claim)
Last time you changed your hair style? I don’t even remember, I have the same style for years. I just periodically get a trim (more or less, depending on how damaged the ends are), with light layers at the ends so it doesn’t fall straight. I keep it medium length, so I can put it in a ponytail when I workout, go for a run or hike (I’m quite active).
Your skin tone/coloring: light neutral
Last skincare product you changed? I bumped up my retinoid percentage from The Ordinary 2% Retinoid in Squalane to 5%. It hasn’t arrived yet, though.
Last time you changed foundations? I wear foundations so rarely it’s hard to tell. I do switch up my concealer a lot though, between MUFE Full Cover (MVP), Kevyn Aucion (fullest coverage, best for serious discoloration, like surgical scars or really inflamed blemishes), and NARS Creamy (sheerest, but easiest to blend in a hurry. also has the most beautiful finish… if your skin looked great to start)
Last time you changed your hair style? I got bangs last month. I really like them!
~nw 15-20. added Cosrx two in one powerless power liquid, ‘cause there’s no such thing as too much bha. It’s betaine, and gentle. Just got Paula’s peptide booster; will start after protini sample is used up. Btw, a consumer review suggested that the DE is actually cheaper than Paula…..per oz? …per app? Foundation change: 2 yrs ago, found KGD, and then they reformulated. Thanks, guys. Truly appreciated. It took me 2 years to find it. Way to many issues in that dept. Hair? Omg, it’s the same as first grade. Short bob, bangs; get the back chopped off for summer.
Are you using the new KGD Aqua? The old one didn’t work on me and I was thinking of getting samples of the new one. Or I could just stay with the Moisture Foundation in the tube, although it is heavy for now,
No, and I think I won’t, but may try to score an old one before they disappear. Either i’ll go for the moisture, or with mufe, the heavy one…no ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate like in water blend…and add to the Paula long name pseudo TM. Unless the HD has chem sunscreen now. Big sigh. Same drill all over again. (The sigh is actually an expletive laden rant.) 90% of the market is no go for me. Curious as to why the original Aqua did not work for you. KGD samples are def in order, Lesley. No lose proposition.
I don’t know why but it sank into lines and gave me polka dot pores. But the moisture formula goes on smoothly and evenly and shade 123 works fine. I should not complain but it is too heavy in warm weather.
Skintone: NC-20-ish
Last Skincare Product i Changed: I purchased SkinFood by Weleda as a hand cream but i’ve discovered it can be used all over and it’s not expensive. Fun Fact: Sharon Stone uses it as her moisturizer …
Last Time I Changed Foundation: Bc i rotate 4 foundations (Kjaer Weis, RMS Beatuy, Juice Beauty and Gressa), i kinda change it up everyday.
Last Time I Changed My Hairstyle: I cut 5 inches of hair off in April. I now sport a Wwendy bob 🙂
Helen, from Juice Beauty is the Phyto-Pigments Flawless serum foundation that you’ve been using? I have their CC Cream in Desert Glow and I love it. I was curious how is their foundation.
I will order three samples of the Gressa foundation for colour match (1.5, 2 and 2.5) as I’m not sure which one will work for my NW15-20 skin tone.
Hi Nicole,
Yes, the flawless serum foundation and i enjoy it. I also have the the CC cream (in Desert Glow) and sometimes i will use both for more coverage.
Gressa is great but finicky. There are days that i look flawless and then there r days (probably my fault) where it looks a little cakey. The colour i use is 3.0 but i could easily get away with 2.5. Enjoy!
Thank you so much Helen for taking the time to reply! I can’t wait to try the Gressa samples:)
Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Last skincare product you changed? cleanser – it’s getting warmer so I pulled out the PUR foaming face wash that I sometimes used (just got it out last night)
Last time you changed foundations? gosh – can’t say (I’d have changed about 2 months ago except the Dior foundation I wanted to buy isn’t available any longer; I did purchase a Shiseido foundatin in its place so I guess I have changed fairly recently)
Last time you changed your hair style? It’s got to be at least 10 years (though in the past 9 months or so, I’ve been sporting purple streaks/highlights)
Your skin tone/coloring: fair redhead
Last skincare product you changed? I switched to Andalou Naturals daytime moisturizer with SPF from the Josie Maran moisturizer with spf, as I’ve heard they’ve switched the formula on the Josie Maran product and it broke out Tarababyz who has thus far been a great skincare guru-match for me. 🙁
Last time you changed foundations? Added the Huda Beauty foundation into my arsenal of BB/CC creams, it adds coverage when I mix it into things and is beautiful (but super high coverage) on its own.
Last time you changed your hair style? A month or so ago, I chopped off a ton of length, and am loving it so far!
Skin Tone/coloring: Light medium with neutral undertones, blue eyes, chocolate brown hair
Last skin care product changed: Two weeks ago I switched from Timeless 20% CE Ferulic to Maelove The Glow Maker. I wanted hydration in my Vitamin C serum to cut out an extra layer.
Last time I changed foundation: Last week I decided to use up the last bit of a YSL Touché Eclat mini foundation so I switched from my Japanese DS foundation, Kate Secret Skin Maker Zero. When I finish the YSL, I will work on a Fenty mini I got from Sephora last week.
Last time I changed my hairstyle: A few weeks ago I started wearing my bangs straight down instead of sweeping them to the side.
Skin tone/coloring: fair, warm; light brown hair with copper highlights
Last skincare product you changed? Aside from seasonal changed: I stopped La Prairie Cellular Eye Contour Cream, started Paula’s Choice eye cream. Because LP one aggravated eyelid irritation issue of the time and PC one didn’t.
Last time you changed foundations? ~2 years.
Last time you changed your hair style? Nothing drastic in a long time; small changes all the time, from moderate color changes to more/less layering, a little longer/shorter, etc. Most recent significant change was about 10 years ago when I went very blonde for awhile.
Skin tone: medium neural/warm/olive (MAC NC30)
Skincare: My most recent skincare change was prompted by menopausal hormonal acne. I switched to cleanser and toner that have a combination of salicylic and glycolic acids.
Foundation: I am frequently changing or at least trying new foundations. My go-tos are Estée Lauder Doublewear (Ivory Beige), Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk (5.75), and Lancome Teint Idole Ultra (370 Bisque). Right now I am mixing Urban Decay Naked Skin with Becca Ultimate Coverage. My sample of Dior’s new Backstage foundation will be here today and I am looking forward to playing with it.
Hairstyle: It’s so curly that I just have variations of short to shoulder length. It’s been pretty much the same my entire adult life.
* Skin tone/coloring: Fair/cool
Last skincare product you changed?
Belief Moisture Bomb, 6 months ago.
* Last time you changed foundations?
Years ago. I am loyal to Dr Jart.
* 5Last time you changed your hair style?
Last month.
Skintone / coloring : light, MAC NC 15 – 20, med brown hair and eyes
Last skincare I changed: I stopped purchasing skincare with fragrance, synthetic or natural and avoid anything with SD Alcohol /Alcohol Denat. Skin has never been better
Guess I could have finished the other two before hitting send…
Foundation: I don’t really have a foundation I’m loyal to but I know what my skin can take etc. I switch from a BB Cream, a powder foundation and a semi matte/matte foundation depending on the season and what I’m doing
Last time I changed my hair: I never know what to do with my hair. I just know it needs to have long layers and be thinned out every now and then. I keep it about shoulder length so I can pull it back.
Your skin tone/coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones, MAC NC37, Lancome Teint Idole Foundation N360, deep brunette, blue-green eyes w/ gold flecks.
Last skincare product you changed? It’s been so long since I have changed anything, that I seriously cannot remember what it was!
Last time you changed foundations? Just returned what I thought was going to be my perfect foundation, Fenty Profilt’r 260, to go back to using Lancome Teint Idole Foundation N360. I still don’t know why Fenty 260 turned orangish on my skin an hour or two later, but it was very noticeable and awkward looking.
Last time you changed your hair style? Just over a year ago, I lopped off around a foot of length off due to the heaviness of my hair giving me neck pain and migraines. I’m thinking of going even shorter and adding ashy blonde highlights to more easily transition into letting my gray hair grow in, and just embracing it. Very scary, since my OG natural hair was dark brown, and that’s what I’ve been maintaining it as. Catch is; when my roots grow in enough, I literally look like Pepe La Pew! LOL!
I decided to stop coloring my hair years ago, and I love my gray. It looks like highlights in my dark hair. I use purple shampoo to keep the grays silvery and shiny, I fully encourage you to go natural and leave the coloring for your face!
Your skin tone/coloring: Light warm/olive
Last skincare product you changed? Haven’t changed my skincare routine in years! Praying nothing gets discontinued.
Last time you changed foundations? Same. Been using Naked Skin for years and dread the day they pull it from their line.
Last time you changed your hair style? Haven’t changed in years! I let it grow long until it’s just too split to keep it. Last cut was last August after 21 months without a cut.
Wow, I’m super boring!
Your skin tone/coloring: Light medium, yellow undertones, dark brown hair & eyes.
Last skincare product you changed? It wasn’t a change so much as incorporation into my routine. The end of spring was FREEZING cold here and my skin did not like it, so I started using Antipodes Avocado Night Cream several times a week because my rosehip one was not cutting it.
Last time you changed foundations? Eh, I cycle through them pretty regularly – but I got the Designer Brands Velvet Matte ones about 6 weeks ago and they’re quite nice!
Last time you changed your hair style? I chopped 8 inces of hair off about a month or so ago and went from long luscious locks (heavy, tangly, dry and split ends, LOL) to a choppy bob.
That’s the name of the foundation I am getting!
Your skin tone/coloring: Light warm
Last skincare product you changed? Mizon snail serum to CosRX snail serum
Last time you changed foundations? Early spring, from The Ordinary’s coverage foundation in 1.2N to Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk foundation, #4.
Last time you changed your hair style? I don’t do that often enough! I just get layers around my face, use product that smooths my hair out, and let my wavy curly hair do its thing.
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain with pink undertones
Last skincare product you changed? Well that’s just going to start happening as Priceline, our budget beauty shop, has just had a 40% off their skincare range and, needless to say, I indulged. I bought a Mororccan Argon oil, Skin Physics Night cream and a Nip and Fab day moisturiser.
Last time you changed foundations? I am just about to purchase a DB Cosmetics (an Australian cruelty free line) Matte foundation in porcelain. So we’ll see how it goes.
Last time you changed your hair style? I changed my hairstyle a little while ago, with it being shorter at the back and shaped in the front. But I found that it annoyed me and my hair wouldn’t turn under like it was supposed to, so I have changed back to having a bob.
Your skin tone/coloring, Medium, warm, MAC NC 30, Armani LS 5.75
Last skin care product you changed. Haven’t found any new ones I liked, HG eyecream is Shiseido Benefiance, using it forever. Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM, Mario Bedescu Elasto/collagen cream, BB Extra spf 25 wit EL Night Repair underneath.
Last time you changed foundations. Trying samples of a few. EL Double wear Water Nude, in Tawny, love it, perfect match! Might buy this. Also TF Born this Way. Love this too, but would need 2 colors to blend, to match me, I think. Also trying MUFE HD liquid. Very nice, perfect match in Y335.
Last time you changed your hairstyle – funny. I do all the time. 20 wigs, all $$$$. Blonde, brunette, red, highlighted, low lights, short, long everything in between. Lol. My own hair, eh – my whole life never was able to do much with it. Fine, etc. genetics doesn’t grow. Oh well. Lol.
Skin tone/coloring: Fair. NW13-15
Last skincare product change: Probably moisturizer. I’ve been trying to use up sample sizes. Miss my Olay Regenirist.
Last time I changed foundations: April 2018. Re-tried Lancome Teint Idiole. Its probably my HG.
Last time I changed my hairstyle: 20+ years. I was born with stick straight hair courtesy of my Native American ancestors. For years I would perm it so it would hold a curl. I was just ruining it. My MIL told me to embrace what God gave me so I did. Now I cut 5-6 inches off twice a year to keep it waist length. It grows like crazy, is shiny and healthy.
Your skin tone/coloring:
Last skincare product you changed? I changed my moisturizer and toner to Paula’s Choice several months ago. I like PC, but I’m not sure if I’ll stay with it or try something less expensive.
Last time you changed foundations? About 4 years ago I started using liquid foundations again, as my skin changed. It was so extremely oily that I only used to use bareMinerals Original Loose Powder Foundation SPF 15 . Now it’s still oily, but not as bad. Sometimes, it’s more combination with oily T-zone. Hormones make it change pretty frequently, so I have a few different foundations to suit how it’s presenting on a given day.
Last time you changed your hairstyle? About 6 weeks ago. I got it cut from waist-length to shoulder-length, and got the side shaved. I’ve been loving it.
I forgot to put in color: Very fair with neutral undertones;’ magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair
Last skincare product you changed? None
Last time you changed foundations? About a year ago – that lasted one day.
Last time you changed your hair style? I change it about all the time. Up, down, bangs, etc.
Skin tone: Very fair with cool undertones, MAC NW 5-10
Last skin product changed: I started using Drunk Elephant Protini in my routine to beef up my hydration and moisturization a couple of weeks ago. I also added DE C-Tango Eye Cream and NIOD Eye Concentrate to my Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic and Retinol Gel. I added the NIOD about 6 weeks ago I believe and the C-Tango about a month ago.
Last time foundation changed: I have tried a lot of testers recently but as for changing foundations, I haven’t in just under a year. Last year while in Seattle I picked up the Cle de Peau foundation and wore it for a good portion of the summer but it started breaking up on me and so I put it away. I haven’t tried it in awhile so will have to pull it out and see how it wears now. I have tried testers for La Mer (wasn’t super impressed given how expensive the foundation is). I expected to like it better than I did. For now I am working between two foundations that work for me, Chosungah and the Chanel. I am using the Chanel a lot because it is probably the foundation I am going to take to Europe with me so I want to make sure that it wears well in several different situations, weather, humidity, etc. I also have a couple of cushion foundations that I like a lot and use when I am in a hurry
because I know they work for me.
Last hair style change: About a year ago I cut about 12 inches off and having been keeping it at about that length ever since. I cut it because of obvious thinning and hairdresser felt that it would appear thicker if there wasn’t as much weight dragging it down. I admit I don’t really do a lot with my hair so this shorter length works okay for me. I kept it long for the same reason as I could just pull it up in a pony tail or clip it up and I was good. I needed enough length left on it to do the same and this length lets me do that although the hairdresser wanted to go even shorter. I was worried that any shorter would emphasize my double chin.
Your skin tone/coloring: light neutral/slightly warm
Last skincare product you changed? I usually use Mario Badescu products mixed with some from The Ordinary, but lately I’ve been curious about Ph balance and oils, so I’m trying some new things from Drunk Elephant and Milk Makeup. It all seems a bit overhyped, but we’ll see over time. I only buy travel/mini sized products to try, and then I would/wouldn’t buy a full size based on how much I love it, how long the mini product lasted, how long a full size would last vs the cost and if it’s more effective than what I’m using currently.
Last time you changed foundations? When the weather got warmer I switched from UD naked to nudestix tinted blur- so easy to apply in a pinch and doesn’t need to be set!
Last time you changed your hair style? February-ish? Went shoulder length
LOB from super long
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair & warm
Last skincare product you changed? Bought the entire Vitamin E line at The Body Shop recently & I am loving it! (I haven’t shopped at Body Shop since L’Oreal bought them- now a Brazilian company called Natura owns Body Shop & shares the same eco-conscious & cruelty-free awareness- be sure to sign Body Shop’s petition to the UN to ban animal testing worldwide!)
Last time you changed foundations? Still wearing me It CC cream because it is 50 spf for daily where since 2012
Last time you changed your hairstyle? Went from a chin length bob (looking very Anna Wintour) to an undercut pixie for summertime.
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/cool skin (foundation matches: L’Oreal True Match C3 Creamy Natural, Urban Decay All Nighter 2.5, NARS Natural Radiant Longwear 2.0 Mont Blanc), gray eyes, brown hair with red highlights and scattered blonde and blue strands
Last skincare product you changed? After going without for years, I recently started using a 3-step cleansing regimen again. My current one is all Neutrogena, whereas the one I used years ago before stopping was Mary Kay.
Last time you changed foundations? In April I bought and started using my UD All Nighter. Sometimes I alternate between it and my L’Oreal, and sometimes I combine them.
Last time you changed your hair style? Roughly every 1-2 years I go back and forth between cutting my hair into a bob and then growing it back out.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair with neutral undertones and freckles; medium warm brown hair; green/gray/blue eyes
Last skincare product you changed? I recently started using reusable make up removing cloths and I like them more than I thought I would!
Last time you changed foundations? I change foundation day today among my 5 or 6 favorites, but my newest one that I love is the Lancome Skin Feels Good foundation. Such a perfect summer dewy foundation; if only they’d expand the shade range!
Last time you changed your hair style? I got bangs about 6 months ago and I like them on me, but not with how short the rest of my hair is. I am currently growing them out.
Skin tone/coloring: Light/neutral, blonde hair, hazel eyes.
Last skincare product you changed: Three weeks ago started using Sunday Riley Good Genes and Luna sleeping oil. So far it’s good!
Last time you changed foundation: I switch between Armani Luminous Silk (4.75) and Tom Ford Perfecting (Pale Dune).
Last time you changed hair style: Years ago when I quit straightening it! Now it’s wash and go. It’s wavy/curly and colored, so I like it best layered (shorter in back), anywhere from short to medium.
