How often do you wash your makeup brushes? Not often enough, that’s for sure. It’s my least favourite beauty task so I tend to put it off until I have no more clean brushes…which is really bad, I know!
What do you use to wash your makeup brushes? I use Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. When it’s done I might try Dr. Bronners though; I’ve heard good things!
How do you store your makeup brushes? Haphazardly, that’s how. I have two Sigma brush roll holder thingies that sit on my desk. I also really like emptying out those glass candle jars after the candle is done and using those to store brushes.
Your skin tone/coloring: light with yellow undertones
How often do you wash your makeup brushes? Once every week or two
What do you use to wash your makeup brushes? Dr. Bronner’s castille soap in lavender, I have mint to use up next but I think I’ll just go with unscented next time.
How do you store your makeup brushes? They’re all displayed in (cleaned out) candle jars, handle down/ bristles up. Mostly organized by brand (if I own quite a few from a brand) or by type (like eye brushes)
Coloring: Snow White (character)
Washing Frequency: Oh dear….
Wash With: Handsoap

What do you use to wash your makeup brushes? I use Sephora’s solid brush cleaner
How do you store your makeup brushes? I store the ones I use the most in a jar in my bathroom. Then I have an acrylic on my dresser that I haven’t really organized yet and then I keep some brush kits in a drawer (like the It travel kit, It dual ended kit, Sonia Kashuk15th anniversary in box).
My skin tone is very light olive. I have yellow undertones but I can often wear neutral foundation.
I don’t have a schedule for washing my brushes. I wash on an as needed basis. My concealer brush and my foundation brush get washed after every few uses. My dry powder brushes are washed when I see pigment buildup on them. As I don’t wear makeup every day, I can often go a couple of weeks before washing the powder product brushes. I always wipe them off carefully though after each use. I wash my brushes used with cream products in a small mix of facial cleaning oil (I use DHC) and a drop or two of baby shampoo. Product comes right out. My dry product brushes are washed in a mixture of warm water and baby shampoo, or if heavily stained, in Philosophy Purity plus warm water. I hang my brushes upside down to dry in a Benjabelle brush holder and store the dry brushes that I am currently using in decorative Japanese tea mugs (no handles) on my vanity. The extras are stored flat in Sigma brush rolls.

How do you store your makeup brushes? I store them in 2 round, clear, acrylic containers from the Container Store with a lid. I only wear makeup on the weekend, so I didn’t want them to sit around and collect dust, so that’s why I got the ones with a lid.

. As always, I am fairest neutral porcelain in tone with cool-leaning features (eyes/hair).
. I wash my brushes OFTEN. Depending on the product, sometimes after every use. BeautyBlenders are washed immediately to prevent staining and maintain longevity. Anything that touches cream, liquid, gel, etc wet products are washed almost always that day or at the very least before their next use. Foundation, concealer, and brushes used on eye gels/creams get the most heavy rotation. Powder brushes are washed less often and more as needed, but certainly at least once a week. Anything that touches my eyes like lash curlers or liner brushes are washed every time too.
. BeautyBlender’s Solid Cleanser is my favorite brush cleaner by far. Never leaves any pigment behind, doesn’t allow for sticky residue buildup, etc. I also spot wash as needed and sometimes add in a mild soap (like baby soap, Dr. Bronner’s diluted, or Skin Biology’s liquid soap diluted).
. My home-use brushes have their own storage drawers and are also kept in rolls or holders of some sort to keep them together. The ones in my stage-kit are kept in guards and rolls/holders in the traincase.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light/Medium with warm undertones. MAC NC25, NARS Punjab
How often do you wash your makeup brushes? I wash my face brushes once a week, and my eye brushes every two weeks or so, depending on how dirty they are.
What do you use to wash your makeup brushes? Lately I’ve been using the Dr. Bronner’s Solid Lavender Soap for deep cleaning, and it’s amazing; I don’t know how I ever managed without it! Zero residue, washes out EVERYTHING, and my brushes dry fast. For spot cleaning eye brushes, I use MAC’s Brush Cleaner.
How do you store your makeup brushes? I’ve got these cute little cup/dishes from Target. They’re blown glass and curve up, so they hold brushes well. Problem is I only have four, and they don’t hold very many each. I filled them with coffee beans to hold the handles.

How often do you wash your brushes : Probably not often enough, usually wash them every week or two but the ones that don’t get used much probably only get done once a month.
What do you use to wash your brushes : spot clean with MAC brush cleaner. For a full clean I use baby oil first, I put a little it into a pot, dip the brush in and then wipe it off onto a clean paper towel. I find it helps to break down the makeup in the bristles. Then I just use whatever shampoo I’m using as the time.
How do you store your brushes : I use to have empty Yankee Candle jars on my table, I’d have separate ones for face brushes and eye brushes. At the moment though most of them are just chucked into a makeup bag because I don’t have the space anymore to have them out on display like I use to.

Christine, I’m curious – I ordered a couple Chikuhodo brushes a while ago after reading one of your reviews and the package insert said not to wash them more than once a month. Do you ever feel that some brushes really shouldn’t be washed too frequently? I’ve been afraid to wash them!
– I wash all of my brushes weekly, my foundation and concealer brush after one use, and spot clean the other brushes after each use on a towel.
– I prefer the Dr. Bronner’s bar soap, but I also use baby shampoo only because I need to use it up. The bar soap gets everything out whereas the shampoo has trouble with foundation and doesn’t wash out as well. Then I hang my brushes in a brush tree.
– I just put the brushes I’m using in cups and ones in storage with a brush guard in makeup bags.

Other brushes: the smaller ones every week, the bigger ones every two weeks (because they take so long to dry and I can’t miss them ;))

I use Sephora’s solid cleanser and I love love love it! I seriously wash my brushes twice as often since I got it, just because I like the smell and I think using a solid cleanser is so much less annoying than a liquid.
I store my clean brushes in two cups on my make up table, one for eye brushes and one for face brushes. As I use them, I pile them horizontally in the space in front. (Which I always do with my double ended brushes and the travel brushes that are too short for the cups.) So when my cups get empty, I know it’s time for a cleaning!

Wish I could figure out a good way to store the double-ended ones without damaging the bristles!
