*Your skin tone/coloring: medium/ brown hair/ brown eyes
*Most worth it beauty splurge? I went for the “Parisian Eyes” deal through Muse Beauty over the holidays and picked up Viseart Neutral Matte and Sultry Muse for $128 with a few free brushes thrown in and a $20 credit back. That was definitely a worthy splurge! I already owned Paris Nudes so I think my personal Viseart collection is complete now.
*Least worth it beauty splurge? Guerlain Meteorites brush- it’s pretty, but it IS as scratchy as the bad reviews claim and I don’t think it does a better job applying vs softer and less expensive brushes.
*Next item you might splurge on? I would looove to get the Tom Ford Nude Dip quad! It’s had to spend so much for so few colors, though, especially when I already own approximately 264738254 neutral shades ?

Your skin tone/coloring: NARS Siberia.
Most worth it beauty splurge? Dior Creme de Rose lip balm. It’s a lot of money for a dang balm, but NOTHING makes my lips this soft. Also, the Sunday Riley Flora oil. 100% worth the hefty price tag.
Least worth it beauty splurge? MUFE Stick foundation. It made my dry skin that NEVER breaks out get terrible pimples.
Next item you might splurge on? some NARS blushes. xD

badgerpaws Avatar

Oh, and on the beauty TOOL side, the worst splurge was my sigma brush set. ugh, compared to my Sedonna Lace sets, (which on black friday were cheaper) they are just so thin and don’t get the job done as well.

ElKay Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Light Medium NW-25ish
Most worth it beauty splurge? Tom Ford blush & highlighters
Least worth it beauty splurge? Charlotte Tilbury eye quad
Next item you might splurge on? Natasha Denona large palette, waiting for the reviews. So far not looking promising.

Deidre Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: fair/light with pink undertones
Most worth it beauty splurge? Radical Skincare Instant Revitalizing Mask- only get 1oz but you use so little, it lasts forever and it is a quick and easy mask. I already have a backup
Least worth it beauty splurge? A Chanel eyeshadow quad-not that they aren’t nice shadows I just never wear it so I would say it wasn’t worth it
Next item you might splurge on? Natasha Denona eyeshadow or Charlotte Tilbury eye cream

Valerie Avatar

Skin tone/coloring: Fair/Light with pink undertones
Most worth it splurge: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette – most natural looking highlight without emphasizing my flaws and pores.
Least worth it splurge: High end mascara (insert brand here) – I have found formulas I enjoy, but nothing that’s made the extra cost worth it.
Next item to splurge on: I haven’t decided yet, those new Bite beauty lipsticks look nice…

Katherine T. Avatar

*Most worthy – MAC Guo Pei shadow quads in Morning Light and Night Sky – painfully expensive at $70 each, but gorgeous packaging, great quality shadows, and the colors look stunning on my eyes
*Least worthy – La Mer cream – it’s ok, but not sure what the big deal is
*Next splurge -eyeing MAC’s Poesia collection

Lauren Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Fair-Light w/ Neutral Undertones
Most worth it beauty splurge? YSL Tint-in-Oil. They are very nice glosses and I love that they leave a stain behind. They are more comfortable than other oils out there too. And Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Silk Eyeshadows. They are the only thing that stays on my non-primed and non-paint potted (yes I use both in order to have any shadow last more than an hour on my greasy lids).
Least worth it beauty splurge? Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara. This I didnt like at first, it got better as the mascara got older which was weird. But overall it didnt do enough to be worth the price tag.
Next item you might splurge on? Another YSL Tint-in-Oil (I already have 2) or the Givenchy Poudre Premiere Mat & Translucent-Finish Loose Powder. I have heard its a great powder for oily girls.

Rachel Avatar

Totally agree with you on the Ysl tint in oils. I have (had) 3, but seemed to have lost one. I’m planning to repurchase if I can’t find soon. I just love them!

Claire L Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, cool leaning towards neutral. Dark auburn hair, green-grey eyes.

Most worth it beauty splurge? Tools – most definitely the Wayne Goss eye brush set. It’s a dream to apply eyeshadow with this. Beauty product: Both the NARS Despair palette and the UD x Gwen Stefani cheek palette.

Least worth it beauty splurge? Dior Pied de Poulet eye palette, there’s only one good shade in there and the others just muddify out.

Next item you might splurge on? MUFE Florals vol. 3 palette or if I don’t manage to get it, the MAC Flamingo Park eye palette. Or perhaps both!

jaz Avatar

Coloring – Nw45ish
Next splurge: Zoeva brush sets , zoeva palettes (it’s a splurge because I have never bought a brush set before, at least not one with more than 5 brushes) , and Tom Ford Honeymoon.
Non-makeup – a new camera, macbook pro, and an ipad mini ( or samsung s2 tablet)

♥ Your skin tone/coloring:
• Dark to Medium-Deep
• Warm undertone, with a touch of Neutral
• NC44.5 to NC45

♥ Most worth it beauty splurge?
• Chanel Camélia de Plumes Highlighting Powder
❝ It was absolutely worth the pricey plunge. It is the most unique, but natural, highlighter in my collection. ❞
• Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder
❝ It was one of my first luxury purchases (I was not used to spending more than $20 on makeup), and I can’t remember why I’d decided to try the Guerlain bronzer for the first time. I’d bought shade #03. When I’d finally worn it, I immediately fell completely, head-over-heels in love with the powder! It was bronzing perfection! I needed to have more…and I did. I then quickly bought two more shades. ?? My bank account was crying, but I was as happy as can be; and I still am. I now have 4 of the 5 warm tone shades of the terracotta bronzer collection. I still need to get #07. If one of the GTBPs hasn’t touched your makeup life, then you are missing out. ❞

♥ Least worth it beauty splurge?
• Sigma brushes
❝ So due to its popularity and constant praise, I had finally caved and bought a couple of these premium Sigma brushes to see if the hype was worth it. In my opinion, they were not as special as I’d hoped. I’ve bought better brushes from eBay and Crown Brushes. Sorry, Sigma. ❞

♥ Next item you might splurge on?
• Givenchy Beauty Sugar Skull Highlighter (upcoming release)
• [1] Givenchy Beauty Healthy Glow Powder (Summer 2016)
• MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in NATURALLY ENHANCED (Summer 2016)
❝ Oohh, my Makeup List is ready!! I know what I want to buy, and I’m already saving for the splurge. ❞

Rachel R. Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta hair; hazel/green eyes.

Most worth it beauty splurge? Eslor Collegen Firming Cream. It’s spendy, but it lasts me 3-4 months when used daily. I found after using it daily for a few months, my skin tightened up enough that now I only use it a couple times a week.

Least worth it beauty splurge? For me, mascara. I’m allergic to most mascaras anyway, and lots of times the drug store ones I use out-performs the high end I’ve tried.

Next item you might splurge on? They aren’t huge splurges, but I’m planning on getting the upcoming palettes from Too Faced: Peanut Butter & Jelly ($36, on 2/28) and Just Peachy (I’m assuming $49 like the Chocolate bar palettes).

Momo Avatar

I’m also thinking about getting those two Too Faced palettes, as well. I’m on the fence about the Peanut Butter and Jelly palette, because I love the packaging, but I’m so-so about the shades. The Just Peachy palette had me at hello. LOL. I’m just hoping the swatches don’t disappoint. Fingers crossed!

Ray Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Pale with cool undertones

Most worth it beauty splurge? Becca’s mattifying primer.

Least worth it beauty splurge? MUFE’s HD powder. After I finished it, I switched to the NYX version ($23 cheaper) as soon as it hit the market. The NYX version is actually better. MUFE’s powder is so finely milled that it rolls off itself and doesn’t stick.

Next item you might splurge on? RCMA’s No Color Powder. $10 + shipping feels like a splurge to me when I know I can’t return it if I don’t like it.

Miss A. Avatar

I’m actually considering Becca’s mattifying primer, but I worry that it might be a touch too mattifying. (I tried it on the back of my hand, and YOWZA it’s super-effective!)
Can you do a quick mini-review/overview for me?

Ray Avatar

I don’t find it to be too mattifying or drying. I have days where I only wear this primer, my brow pencil, and a lip color to get me through the workday and it keeps the shine at bay. If you normally wear a light moisturizer or sunscreen under your primer, that should keep it from feeling too tight on your skin. It’s the best primer for oily skin I’ve ever found.

Lulle Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: light and warm
Most worth it beauty splurge? Guerlain Météorites pearls
Least worth it beauty splurge? Chanel Inimitable Intense mascara. I like the original Inimitable formula, but I really hated the Intense version!
Next item you might splurge on? The Petite Robe Noire lipstick and nail lacquer collection when it FINALLY comes out in the US!

Tammy B Avatar

Skin tone: light medium warm Mac nc37

Worth it splurge: recently it was the Chanel coral ribbon blush

Not with it splurge: Armani Ecstacy Laquers (just awful, settled deeply into my lip lines, messy, the color broke apart over time instead of gradually fading)

Next splurge: I just ordered Tom Ford’s Cocoa Mirage Quad

chris Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: MAC NC50/55
Most worth it beauty splurge? Tazorac Acne Cream (skin care), $100 even with insurance
Least worth it beauty splurge? ABH Dip Brow Pomade (to heavy for day to day brow sculpting)
Next item you might splurge on? Marc Jacobs Decadence fragrance, Bite Beauty Lipstick,

Fran Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: between fair and light; cool undertones and warm features
Most worth it beauty splurge? Hourglass primers and Ambient Lighting Powders have become staple splurges; Tom Ford lipsticks are also worthy — besides having some great and unique colors (like Stavros and Egon), they apply so beautifully and wear so comfortably
Least worth it beauty splurge? for me, Oribe dry texturizing spray; it just doesn’t seem to do much for my hair — maybe my hair is just too long to support any volume
Next item you might splurge on? a Tom Ford patent lip polish

Katherine T. Avatar

I have shoulder length hair and finally caved in to all they hype and got the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray — I thought my $5 Tresemme Dry Shampoo Spray worked better. Plus it had so much fragrance, it was like spraying a bottle of perfume on my hair 🙁 I returned it ASAP

Nicole Avatar

Med with yellow undertone.
Least worth it splurge ,most recently , I have to go with the Tom Ford SS016 shade & illuminate . Just not good. Reall , not worth it at all. I don’t think it’s worth half the amount honestly. A rare TF miss IMO.
Most recent splurge , that has been worth it, I’m going with the Chanel Ribbon blush. I love it. I like that you can position your brush to get a different tone of pink, peach, tan, or swirl it together.
Hmm..next splurge. IDK. I’m thinking hard on Orchid Haze by Tom Ford or the original Shade & illuminate. IDK why but, I am on a TF roll.

Gillian Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Fairest neutral. Currently loving Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Snow mixed with a bit of Barry M Crème Foundation in 1 (white). Great coverage and it lasts well on my oily skin!

Most worth it beauty splurge? A good foundation! One which matches well with your skin tone but, more importantly for me, one that lasts through a working day! I have neither the time nor the energy to touch up so staying power is essential. I think that if you have a great base the rest of your makeup looks a hundred times better.

Least worth it beauty splurge? Eyeliners, lipliners and mascara. I’ve tried expensive and cheap for all of these and I’ve found that you don’t need to spend a fortune to get great liners and mascara. Drugstore brands have some great ones! Blushes too. Just have a good browse and you’ll find all sorts of awesome makeup for a great price!

Next item you might splurge on? Definitely a Tom Ford Patent Lip Polish thingymajig (forgot the actual name)! Don’t know which colour yet but I will own one of these soon, I hope. ?

xamyx Avatar

Skintone/Coloring: Fairly light, very neutral; dark-featured.

Worth the Splurge: ABH Cream Contour Kit in Fair. While it is only $40 for 6 decent sized pans, and a quality product overall (especially for someone who is really into contouring), I had literally picked up the Light option a few days before I found out that the Fair option existed… Both are worth having, though-at least for me!

Least Splurge-worthy: Lancome Teinte Idole Ultra; it’s a great product, and I did buy it with my $20 Sephora discount, but the shade that was the best match, Ivoire 140 (N), is still a bit warm for me… I found a better match in Kat von D Lock-It in Light 42.

Next Splurge: I have my eye on the Lunatick Cosmetics Lab Contour Book, but I’ll most likely try to finish my last MAC palette, first…

Samantha Avatar

Coloring: cool toned, very fair with freckles. Red hair, green eyes.

Most worth it beauty splurge: the entire line of Fresh’s Rose skincare.
Least worth it beauty splurge: any foundation. If I buy and use quality Fresh products, I don’t need foundation.
Next Item I Might Splurge On: Flowerbomb Extreme (does it count as a splurge if I just heavily hint to my husband that I need it?)

Sienna Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair with cool undertones.
Most worth it beauty splurge? Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. Ethereal Light has become my go-to setting powder (yes, I am that pale). But it’s versatile, and applied with a dense brush makes a great, natural-looking highlight.
Least worth it beauty splurge? It feels blasphemous saying this, but Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks. There isn’t a color in the range that works for me, on top of which I hate the strong soapy-floral scent. I like the semi-sheer, slightly glossy finish – and the packaging is gorgeous! – but I just felt that it wasn’t worth the price. They kind of reminded me of Dior Addict lipsticks, which I love and seem like a bargain next to Rouge G. (And they don’t have that awful fragrance!)
Next item you might splurge on? I actually just bought my first Viseart palette! I got Paris Nudes – the colors are right up my alley.

Kristen Avatar

I have to say, there aren’t a lot of Rouge G shades that work for me either! I keep thinking I’ll try another (I have Gracia and like it), but then I look at the colors…

Sienna Avatar

I bought Gemma, which should’ve been perfect for me. It’s a cool-toned mauve-y pink – my favorite lip color to wear! It looked so great in the swatches I’d seen. But on me, it was really underwhelming. Again, I have to say, it didn’t feel like it was worth $54. It just wasn’t special to me. I did end up returning it. If any of the other colors in the range had appealed to me, I might’ve exchanged it, but I just couldn’t find another one I liked.

Madoka Avatar

*Your skin tone/coloring: light medium with warm undertone
*Most worth it beauty splurge? Sunday Riley Good Genes for skin care, Burberry Luminous Fluid Base for beauty
*Least worth it beauty splurge? Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist – This stuff had a very strong smell, stung my eyes if I’m not careful, and also used up very quickly.
*Next item you might splurge on? Tom Ford Patent Finish Lipcolor – These rated so well, and I love lip products with shine and that leave a stain. I just might have to get one!

Genevieve Avatar

Skin tone: fair. light porcelain
Most worth it beauty splurge: Dior Jardin and Guerlain Les Gris
Least worth it beauty splurge: A Chanel lipstick that broke after a week and a Chanel foundation that was completely the wrong colour for me that the MUA should have known.
Next splurge item: hopefully the bareMinerals Soft and Smoky eye palette.

Vanessa V Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Medium Neutral MAC NC 30/35
Most worth it beauty splurge? Nars Sheer Glow foundation 1 pump = light coverage, 2 pumps = medium coverage for a night out
Least worth it beauty splurge? Mascara, I go through it so quickly and I’m always willing to try new formulas so I like purchasing mine from the drug store Maybelline and L’Oreal are my favorite brands
Next item you might splurge on? I’m looking forward to the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

Miss A. Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Cooler-toned olive undertones, with yellow overtones. (I’m East Asian, hence the need to include the part about overtones.) The closest match I’ve found thus far is NARS Luminous All Day in Siberia.

Most worth it beauty splurge?
This might be cheating a little, but basically all of the mid/higher-end blushes I have right now: all of my Tarte blushes–powder and gel; and all of my IT Cosmetics powder blush stains. I love the formulas, the color range, the blendability, the fact that they don’t cause me to break out or flake, and on top of all that, I can remove it all in one go with a bit of face-wash!!! I’m totally in love.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills brow powder was also a great purchase I will never regret. The color Granite is just the right shades of cool-black/brown without being grey or blue, and it also makes for a wonderful cake eyeliner. Yay multi-taskers!!!
(Was I only supposed to list one item? Whoops…)

Least worth it beauty splurge?
Really, high-end eye makeup in general, ESPECIALLY potted eyeliner and mascara (the only exception I make is for the travel-size MUFE Smoky Extravagant mascara because that stuff is amazing). I can never use up the whole thing before it needs to be replaced. It’s just too wasteful for me to justify buying a full-sized version of those items.

Next item you might splurge on?
I’m thinking about sucking it up and finally splurging on some NARS blushes! (I LOVE BLUSH.) The new Impassioned looks like it would be an absolutely lovely everyday blush, and the siren song of Taj Mahal is definitely beckoning me LOL. I’m also considering splurging on the Tartelette eyeshadow palette, though that would be far, far in the future as I’m determined to finish my current palette!

Fitz Avatar

This is just from my experience, I’m FAR from an expert :). I have a lot of visible pink in my face, pigmented pink lips, my cheeks flush often and very pink and areas of uneven pigmentation lean pink also. I was always color matched with pink (cool) under toned face products and couldn’t figure out why my skin looked ‘chalky’ and the foundation looked like it was ‘sitting’ on top of my skin rather than blending in.
When I started asking to be color matched on my jaw bone and the inside of my wrist, I was color matching to yellow (warm) toned products. Now I love wearing foundation because it blends beautifully with my skin . My concession to the overt pink in my face is that I avoid wearing very warm toned color makeup as that can make me look ruddy.

Miss A. Avatar

My understanding is that overtones is the dominant color of your skin, and undertones is what your skin is tinged. For example, at first glance, I have pretty peachy-yellow skin. However, there is a very certain green-blue-olivey quality to it that is present, and that would be my overtone.

Neutral, cool, warm… That’s just what your skin looks like overall in a very broad sense. I’m probably neutral-cool, since is you look at me from afar, there’s not much warmth to my skin aside from my overtone.

Kristen Avatar

This is the first I’ve heard of this too, but makes complete sense! I think I might be the same (pink overtone w/ yellow undertone). It is so hard to find foundation – I thought I was just decidedly neutral!

Miss A. Avatar

It astounds me how little the concept of overtones is discussed. There’s so much more to one’s skintone than the color of your undertones. If all we needed to go by was undertones, people wouldn’t have nearly as much of a hard time trying to figure out what there foundation shade is.

Monica Avatar

Mac C7, MUFE Camel

Bobbi Brown Bronzer in Deep – $40 for a bronzer? But a bronzer that puts all other bronzers to shame? YASSS

Beauty Blender – it’s just kind of gross.

BECCA’s Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation – looks like a great foundation for my dry-ish skin.

Kimberly Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: light-medium, warm leaning towards neutral
Most worth it beauty splurge: Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara. It’s a higher end mascara for sure, but I don’t get such lasting power, volume and definition with drugstore mascaras. Also lasts a while!
Least worth it beauty splurge: philosophy’s Renewed Hope in a Jar. Didn’t really help and man, that tiny jar is expensive.
Next item you might splurge on: probably an eyeshadow palette, looking at the UD Naked 3 or the new Too Faced Sweet Peach one!

Heather Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair (but not fairest porcelain), warm/neutral undertone, golden blonde hair, green eyes.

Most worth it beauty splurge? Good foundation! It’s hard to find a shade both pale and warm enough for my coloring, and which doesn’t aggravate my dryness or sensitivity.

Least worth it beauty splurge? Any high-end mascara–they might be lovely, but there are some really great drugstore mascaras now for a fraction of the price!

Next item you might splurge on? I really want the viseart Paris nudes, but at $80 it will probably have to wait!

Stephanie Avatar

Skin tone/coloring: light

Most worth-it beauty splurge: Foundation and concealer. Especially concealer…cheaper varieties either don’t cover enough or make me look old or both.

Least worth-it beauty splurge: Mascara. I have yet to try a mid to high-end mascara that works any better than drugstore brands.

Next item you might splurge on: The week or so since I’ve gotten my tax return has been Splurge Central for me…I’ve picked up UD Urban Spectrum, both Naked Basics, Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons and the Love Palette, and Tartelette 2. Oh, and the Too Faced blush palette and several lipsticks. I have an addiction, what can I say?

As for what to splurge on after all that? Well, the birthday Beauty Insider gift from Sephora included a Marc Jacobs lipstick sample, and I LOVED the formula, so I might try buying a full-sized one in a different shade.

Pteetsa Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/neutral/brown hair/blue-green eyes

Most worth it beauty splurge? Probably Tom Ford Nude Dip palette. It’s a good, no-brainer type of palette because it’s fairly neutral and always looks pretty. Also, Algenist Overnight Restorative Cream, because it’s pretty pricey, but I finished the jar!

Least worth it beauty splurge? I paid a lot for Guerlain Wulong powder on ebay, but I don’t use it too much – the perfume smell is very strong and I’m a little afraid of it. (I get migraines).

Next item you might splurge on? Some perfumes, I think. Just ordered Marc Jacobs Pear Splash; I’m hoping my husband will like it. Thinking about Chanel Mademoiselle. There’s a couple of Natasha Denona eyeshadows that look really pretty, and Tom Ford Spring 2016 cream eyeshadows. Uh oh, how’d my list get so long so fast?!

Fitz Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Very pale with warm undertones and pink overtones (yeah, getting color matched is an ordeal)

Most worth it beauty splurge? Burberry eyeshadows. They are on a different level from every shadow i’ve ever used.

Least worth it beauty splurge? The Charlotte Tilbury blending brush. Shed itself into oblivion.

Next item you might splurge on: I have a big birthday coming up and my husband has, sweetly, offered to take me makeup shopping for a few treats. I think I’m set on getting the Cle de Peau luminizer in pastel and the YSL spring collection face powder depending on how it reviews here. Please please please review it here!

Anne Avatar

I really need to get a few of those Burberry shadows! They look so amazing.

If you can, you should check out the YSL face powder in store (if there is one that stocks it nearby that is). I really, really wanted to get it, but when I played with it in store it was super glittery, like actual chunks. So disappointing, but I’m glad I didn’t spend my money on something I would have regretted.

Fitz Avatar

I recommend starting with Midnight Brown in the Burberry e/s. That. shade. is. magic.

I finally saw the YSL compact it in store. I agree, so, so disappointing. I was hoping for the classy glow of meteorites but, like you said, chunky glitter. I think I’ll switch that on my wish list for the Charlotte Tilbury face powder compact.

KJH Avatar

Coloring: light to medium, cool to neutral. I keep thinking my skin has warmed up, but every line except Cover FX P range looks yellow on me. Ugly yellow.
Good splurge: Paula’s Line Minimizer and MJ Free Spirit.
Bad splurge: No real disasters, but I became mistrustful of online base products, when I got a wrong colored concealer from Beautylish. RMS, I think. Gave it away. Too yellow and no corrector properties.
Planned splurge: Zoeva. En Taupe, cool palette, brushes. Where is that tax refund?

Karla Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: NC25
Most worth it beauty splurge: My 2 Tom Ford cream/powder duos in golden peach and naked bronze
Least worth it beauty splurge: my nars light reflecting loose powder, it makes my face too shiny, i can clearly see the shimmer particles on my face:(
Next item you might splurge on: I really want to buy a Tom Ford blush

Wednesday Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: NC20-25 light yellow and olive
Most worth it beauty splurge? recent purchase:Tom Ford eye pencil in Slate. A really good shade of grey taupe which is perfect for natural looking makeup. Brings out my hazel eye colour and flatters my skintone. OR the matte version of NARS famous skin tint. I love it mixed with something more emolliant like a BB/CC cream for a more velvet looking finish.
Least worth it beauty splurge? Charlotte Tilbury Magic foundation, but I do love her Magic wander duo ended concealer thingee.
Next item you might splurge on? I’m waffling about a number of new foundation formulas. I have some great products which work well with my skintones and so far my recent purchases have been just okay to downright horrible.

t Avatar

skin tone: very fair and cool
most worth it beauty splurge: probably the lipstick I made at the bite beauty lab. $45 = my most expensive lipstick but it’s one of a kind
least worth it beauty splurge: hmm maybe the NARS velvet matte lip pencils? not that they’re THAT expensive but I think NARS has a certain reputation and those products just don’t live up to it imo
next splurge: hopefully the UD electric palette

Ellen Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Fair to light, neutral to warm

Most worth it beauty splurge? Definitely my Clarisonic. It’s been amazing for my skin.

Least worth it beauty splurge? Not necessarily much of a “splurge”, but my tarte foundation brush was definitely not worth it. It’s way too big for my face, seems to steal way too much product, and it sheds when I use it.

Next item you might splurge on? A luxury foundation or the Nude Gold Burberry Runway Palette. I just got the white one and it’s so gorgeous! I’m not sure if it might be a bit too dark to be totally usable for me, though.

Kristen Avatar

*medium, true neutral (N27-30ish)/brown hair & brown eyes
*Most worth it: Kevyn Aucoin The Volume mascara. Could a drugstore brand make a tubing mascara please? This is the only mascara that won’t transfer onto my contact lenses and drive me crazy. Also more waterproof (really, sweatproof) than any waterproof mascara on me. I’ve tried Blinc. Kevyn wins. I buy 3 at a time during Nordstrom’s Buy 2, get 1 free mascara events.
* Least worth it: Eve Lom Brightening Cream. What was I thinking spending that much on a moisturizer? Also, it has hyaluronic acid in it, which I’ve learned I can’t use. (If you care why, reply, and I’ll explain with the boring details). So I gave it away!
* Next splurge: More skincare. SK-II treatment essense. I’ve become hooked on using an essence before moisturizer. I’m trying a cheaper one now, but I think I miss SK-II. Finding one without HA is also a challenge, so I don’t have a lot of options. Holidays Nordstrom notes earned + waiting for a bigger Ebates %, and SK-II here I come!

Nell Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: NW15, very fair with pink undertones

Most worth it beauty splurge: Highlighters: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Candlelight, and Guerlain Meterorites.

Least worth it beauty splurge: 2 Tarte Eyeshadow Palettes. These were very powdery and the colors were muddy dull for me.

Next splurge: To fill up the NARS Pro Palette for blush. I purchased the palette with one blush to see if the large size would work for me. It does! There is space for a total of 9 blushes— Wish me well?

Joy Avatar

•Skintone/Coloring: I’m extremely pale (white white hint of eggshell white) with cool yellow undertones. Cool features.
• Most worth it beauty splurge: I will always answer skincare. I use the entire SK-II line. Prior I tried everything anything from all over world and price. This is all I can use. Skin first. Makeup second.
•Worthy Makeup Splurge: SK-II foundations mixers Tom Ford blush TF Cream Colors for eyes,TF lipsticks and the new patent lip polish MAC lightscapade Hourglass ALP Ethereal light. Hourglass n 28 lip oil in icon Dior glosses now DCD. Pure Camelia oil.
•Most worth it beauty splurge other: My favorite. I co own a holistic health/herb and Iridology center with rooms for pet pampering. We get many young teens and college aged. Many women, men. Guys for their girls. For last Christmas I and other workers/friends there put hundreds into ColourPop to make free bins. There was an eye cheek lip section each full. Things not vegan had a neon yellow dot. The pet room had a giant barrel of Puppy Love mixed with other creations in the name of animals. Toys too. A gourmet dog chef. People come for supplies, to sit and have a healthy drink. Relax. Use our offerings. Our recommendations. We do most non profit. Many lit up being able to grab what they want. Seeing kids love puppy love and explore the brand and more charities was the best gift. Most worthy splurge ever. We bought the gift sets too. Across 2015 we spent a certain amount each month to put all together for the holidays. It was AWESOME.
•Least worth it beauty splurge: I’m very set in my ways. I won’t buy if don’t feel 100%. I don’t splurge on things I won’t use. Least worth it are all things tried that failed in skincare esp. And NARS blush! Fail!
•Next likely splurge: A second TF patent lip polish and I’m customizing a big goody bag for my dear ol ma! 😀

Most worth it beauty splurge? Probably the Hourglass Blush palette from the holiday collection in like 2014. Also, not technically makeup but any Jo Malone fragrance has been worth the splurge. I’ve already pre-ordered two of their spring herb garden line colognes after being able to smell them at Nordstrom the other day.

Least worth it beauty splurge? I don’t really have any regrets in terms of beauty splurges, as I research any makeup I buy, but ESPECIALLY higher end products, and get samples of things like foundation and such first to see if they are worth the money. The stuff I’ve regretted most was mostly drugstore stuff, until I pretty much gave up on most of it as I kept being disappointed with it.

Next item you might splurge on? Aside from the aformetioned upcoming Jo Malone stuff, I’m not specifically planning on buying anything, but I want to pick up one of the new formula YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-in-Stick lipsticks once they’re available at Sephora or Nordstrom instead of just online. They look quite interesting and I like the shades available from what I’ve seen online.

1. Your skin tone/coloring: light to medium light golden/yellow
2. Most worth it beauty splurge? Born This Way Foundation
3. Least worth it beauty splurge? Not sure how much of a splurge it was, but the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. Couldn’t make it work. I still have it, though, and I’m using a completely different foundation now, so I should try it again.
4. Next item you might splurge on? Can’t decide, though it’ll probably be one of the following: Hourglass Strobe Light Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder in Brilliant, Serge Lutens Beauté Water Lip Color in Black Bordeaux (the most unique, so most likely!), NARS Taj Mahal Blush, or Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette (is it still available?)

Most worth it beauty splurge of the year is the YSL Face Primer, it is truly amazing.
Least worth it beauty splurge would be Dior Addict Fluid Stick in mirage. It is too sheer to be a true lipstick, smells strongly of roses which I don’t care for at all, and its overpriced for what you get.
Next item you might splurge on? The By Terry blush and bronzer palette and the Givenchy sugar skull highlighter for summer 2016.
