Last product you purchased and loved? NARS Madly blush! It’s my new favorite, it goes with absolutely everything and it’s just such a pretty shade and finish.
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? MAC Pink Pigeon lipstick, something about the texture seems too slippy. I think that might just be because it’s incredibly hot out and all my lipsticks are a little “melty,” so I’ll try it again after a few minutes in the fridge.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? Hmm, probably a Sephora gift card was my gift!

Last product you purchased and loved? Tie between Hask Almond Mint shampoo and conditioner and Trish McEvoy perfume in No. 6 Mandarin and Ginger Lily. I was surprised at how well the Hask products worked. The $5.99 products are now replacing ones I spent $24+ on!
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? Madison Reed Root Touch Up – totally did not work.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? Received a full size Trish McEvoy scrub from a Neiman Marcus beauty consultant – love it! Probably never would have purchased it but now will continue to buy. I have a LOT of beauty items on my wish list for my birthday (next Tuesday, 9/1) so I’m anxious to see what I get!

Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? “really” disappointed would be Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer – pricey and I wrestle with it to get it not to look dreadful; somewhat disappointing – KvD Shade+Light eyeshadow palette – it’s a great palette but at the same time, it’s both overwhelming and a bit boring (that’s the “all matte” aspect)
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? Last product I got as “gift” was Bare Minerals Maverick lipgloss (it was in a Sephora VIB gift bag); last thing I gifted – the original Naked Basics and Glam Glow mask, both to my daughter.
Your skin tone/coloring: NARS Deauville
Last product you purchased and loved? MUA lipliner in Caramel Nougat. It’s lovely paired with a lighter nude lipsticks on my complexion!
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? Isadora Kajal in Royal Blue. It’s not bad, it’s very creamy and pigmented, but it just doesn’t last in the waterline for me 🙁 I swatched it on my hand before, and it didn’t wear off after washing my hands etc.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? I gave my mother the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and a Superdrug moisturiser/serum for her birthday!

Alice, did you order any eyeshadows from Rituel de Fille? Did you find them to be really dry? The colors are really pretty, though. I’m trying to figure out a way to make them work.
Yeah I bought 2 shadows (Nightshade and Serpent de Mer) and 1 lipstick (Shadow Self). The shadows were so hard to work with using a brush that it actually hurt my eyelids trying to get decently opaque coverage. Using my fingers worked better but I have fat, blunt fingers and the jar opening is tiny. Also the lipstick was super dry and patchy.
I’m considering returning everything, because for the price point I expect much higher quality, but I love the packaging and the colors are so unique & pretty. Plus I’d lose something like $12 on the shipping 🙁
My skin tone: Medium with yellow to neutral undertones
The last product I purchased and loved was Sephora brand’s Bubble mask! No kidding this stuff is great! I was on the fence about buying Dr. Brandt’s $69 version and saw this and the good reviews. I’ve used the bubble mask by Bliss too. This one is just as nice for around $20! I like to use it for a quick pick me up (It take 2-3 min.) or before a moisturizing or deep clean mask if I am having a “treat me” moment. It’s a must have if you are into skin care or feeling like your skin gets dull.
Last product I was disappointed in was Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet La Boulevesante (51). So, so sad at the performance of this lipstick, gorgeous shade! It had to be returned.
Last thing that was gifted or I gifted: I was just gifted a hand made wood makeup cabinet this week by my uncle. I still have to finish it with some dividers inside and a coat of polyeurythene( I don’t think I spelled that right!). I’m so happy to finally be able to get my stash organized!

Last product you purchased and loved? Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil. I love this product more than any product I have ever owned (which says a lot). It has renewed my skin, making it glowy and soft! It really reduces redness in my skin to the point of never needing makeup. Holy Grail product!
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? Sunday Riley Good Genes. After being blown away by Luna, I was expecting on loving this, but it peeled my skin off. I even tried it with Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser, which dried my skin even further. So in the end, I returned them both. Very disappointing.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? I gifted MAC Set Powder to my sister.

Last product you purchased and loved? I just got Milani’s lipgloss in Luminoso and Physician’s Formula’s Shimmer Strips eye & face palette in nude, both of which I love.
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? Either Milani’s Runway Lashes mascara, which promptly flaked all over me, or their new brow pomade, which didn’t go on smoothly. Really surprising, I usually love Milani.

Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? SPF 50 setting spray, by Supergoop! — a brand I generally love, but this stuff feels horrible, smells even worse, and dispenses unevenly. Shudder.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? I gave a few things to my sister recently. I think she was most happy with the YSL Sheer Candy in the berry color, whatever it’s called.

Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? Essence Plump No Clump Mascara (green packaging, not orange) sooo terrible! It’s insanely wet and gave me the grossest spider lashes of my life!
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? This was forever ago but: an Essence lipstick that was discontinued a few weeks ago. And I just realized that I only mentioned Essence products! I always think “hey, two bucks!” and then buy everything, lol! The curse of drugstore makeup.

Last product you purchased and loved? Clinique Cheek Pop Nude Pop, Milani’s matte lip cream in Adore, and I was pleasantly surprised by the Maybelline Master Conceal concealer, though the shade match isn’t as good as the Fit Me concealer.
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? L’oreal Le Matte in She’s So Matte (the color was way off from what I expected). I haven’t had a high end product dud in a long time, I suppose I regret spending points on products for which I redeemed my Sephora points :/

Last product you gifted or received as a gift: I bought MAC Free To Be eyeshadow for my daughter a year ago, and a few years ago she had given me MAC Amber Lights and some other MAC e/s that was LE that she had depotted.
Hi, Nancy. You should try Nyx’s Black Eyeshadow Base. It’s not as creamy as Black Bean. It’s closer to a Color Tattoo. You can build it up to how dark you want it. If it works for my super-oily lids, it should work on just about anyone.
Oooh… I had no idea NYX did a black eyeshadow base! I have the other 3, and I love them, but the black sounds awesome!

What’s really funny is that I had been trying to decide between those two at Ulta, and as I got to the register, I even told the SA what I needed it for, asked her opinion, she claimed the JEP to be better, but it was terrible! Next time, I’ll trust my gut intuition or ask on here.

I was disappointed in: Rimmel Kate Moss Nude 45. Too creamy, too pale. Wears off in an ugly way.

Last product you purchased and loved? It was a gift with purchase–a mini Lancome Blush Sweetness palette. The eyeshadows are so soft and pigmented. I actually said “oh wow!” in complete shock and delight.
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? This is completely my fault and preference. The Real Techniques Expert Face brush actually didn’t live up to its hype. It gives extremely full coverage even with sheer formulas. I am 100% a light coverage person so the brush isn’t my favorite for applying foundation. But! If you like full, flawless coverage, I highly recommend this brush. Also, the NYC Very Black Liquid Liner pen was a bit of a womp for me. It’s basically a somewhat dark brown. The ink is also quite sheer almost so you have to go over the line again and again.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? My husband bought me the Lancome Audacity palette and Shine Lover lipstick in French Sourire for my birthday.

Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? It’s been years since I last gifted makeup. It was an purple eyeshadow palette for a former friend’s birthday. I can’t remember the brand; she picked it out. I don’t really know any makeup users IRL any more, so I only receive gifts if I request specific ones from my hubby and kids for my birthday or Christmas. I got several items for Christmas last year: The Tarte Pin-up blush palette, Too Faced lipsticks, some MAC, and a few other things.

I picked up several last week on sale at Ulta. I’m loving them so far! I’m still playing with them.
I have Mermaid and Smoke And Mirrors, I love them both so much! Yesterday, I used both in a gorgeous eye look, with Nyx Root Beer as my blending/transition shade, MUFE I-528: Perfection!

I’ve heard their green CC cream is really good, but Ulta was out of it when I visited, so I got the Studio Perfect instead. I’m still hoping to find the CC cream. Target and Ulta are always out of it. I may have to resort to ordering online.
I recently tried the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Creme. It worked fabulously, but was way too dark for my fair skin, so I need to return it. For anyone above an NW10 (unlike me), it would probably work.
I usually wear the equivalent of an N10, so it’d be too dark for me. I’ve heard it’s fabulous stuff, though.

Last product you purchased and loved? MAC Nightmoth pencil. I haven’t gotten to use it a whole lot yet, but I CAN tell what the fuss is about–it’s so emollient for a pencil, and super blendable and pigmented. Honestly it’s just a treat to apply. Looking very forward to getting to know it better. The most recent great buy that I’ve already gotten a lot of use from is UD Radium liquid liner. Bummer that it was discontinued. I feel like it’s probably just to change packaging or tweak the color ever so slightly but I don’t think that’s necessary; it was perfect as it was.
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? I really hate to say this but MAC Burmese Kiss l/s! I don’t like the way it sits on the lips, I think it looks heavy. Also the color is just a bit light for me. Other people seem to like it and I remember it got a good review here, but I just can’t bring myself to love it the way I’d hoped.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? My best friend and I tried to re-gift our Sephora birthday NARS pencils to each other! lol I gave my mother a lot of makeup for her birthday too, including UD Catright lipstick, an Armani eyeshadow, and MAC Rose Pigment.

Last product you purchased and loved? I LOVE the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Brunette and Espresso. I use Brunette in the front of the brow and Espresso on the tail. It’s an awesome pencil and a total dupe for the ABH Brow Wiz. I also recently purchased the Colour Pop Highlighter in Most Necessary and a lippie stix in Toucan. Most Necessary is a gorgeous Rose Gold situation and Toucan is beautiful coral-strawberry color. They’re both quite lovely.
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? MAC Cosmetics “Highlighter” from the Wash and Dry Collection. That thing was pitiful! Runner up to that wack highlighter is sadly a Colour Pop item. I purchased the eyeshadow in Shark Attack and there was hardly any pigmentation. It was not opaque like the rest of my products from them. I probably own over 20 CP items and this is the first one to let me down. It’s ok though, but I’m going to use it as a highlighter!
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? Before Kiko became available in the US this month, my home-girl from Ireland shipped me a huge package of Kiko products for me to try. I must say, I’m in love with that brand! They do eye products very well. Check out the Shadow Stick in #31. The online “swatch” does not do it justice! Pop that in the water line and you’re good to go honey!

I just bought some Flower products yesterday to try them out and was disappointed by the Kiss Stick colors I got (Nude Narcissus and Morning Glory). They are super light and make me look pale and I am pale enough. The formula isn’t bad but I will try and find a way to make the colors work by layering them or using a darker lip liner underneath.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? I gifted myself an acrylic organizer recently as it is my birthday tomorrow. I give my sister all the makeup I don’t use anymore or bought and just don’t like and I did that a few months ago so I guess that could count as ‘gifting’.

Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? Coola SPF makeup setting spray – the setting power was pretty good and I appreciate having the SPF, but there was so little product in the container it ran out really fast.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? Mac Fix+ spray (received as gift) – Love this! It takes away the dry look after setting powder, refreshes and hydrates, and smells really nice! I just wish I could still get the LE yuzu-scented version.

Last product you purchased and loved? Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation. I can’t believe I spent this much on foundation… and amazingly I don’t regret it. Of course, it helps that the colour is a perfect match.
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? Chanel Stylo Yeux in Erable. Colour is gorgeous but ouch! Seriously, it’s so stiff that it hurts to apply.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? Gave my mum Kat Von D Double Dare. Her first liquid lipstick! 🙂
I love the Ellis Faas foundations too. The powder is nice as well but it was crazy trying to find a retailer that had the case in stock.
Skintone/Coloring: Fairly light, very neutral; dark-featured.
Loved: Too Faced Air Buffed BB Creme in Snow Glow (the tub version; it was $8 at Nordstrom Rack, so I took a chance). The color isn’t perfect, but nothing ever is, but it’s close enough. It’s also a bit too heavy for this heatwave we’re having, but my dry skin is looking forward to using it this Winter!
I stumbled upon NYX Lip Liner in Black Berry, and was quite surprised to find a black lip liner! I do a sort of ombre effect when I wear vampy lips, but I’ve always had to go with eyeliner, so this is another product I’m looking forward to. The same day, I came across Ruby Kisses Matte Lipsticks, and I plan to by a few more.
Disappointed: I always swatch first, so this rarely happens… I guess I’d have to say Black Opal Lipstick in Ebony Wine; it’s a bit patchy, but it’s not so bad I can’t work with it.
Gift/Gifted: Every time I go to ULTA while my daughter’s with me, I let her pick out a NYX lipstick. I think the last one was Rose… She’s amassing quite the little stash, LOL! “Santa” also left a few things in her stocking last Christmas, including the UD Sephora perk, which was an eyeshadow quad & liner.
I’m NC42 and the last product that I purchased and loved was Mac Polished Up lipstick because it’s my perfect nude shade. I was disappointed by Kat Von D Monarch eyeshadow palette because the formula has a lot of fallout. Last product i gifted was Tocca Stella perfume.

Last product you purchased and loved? nyx soft matte lip cream in copenhagen! a gorgeous color for fall and while it does transfer (which i was expecting since i have abu dhabi) it doesn’t fade nearly as horrifically as some of my other reds, especially with liner.
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? l’oreal colour riche lipsticks in some colors that i can’t remember (i returned them a day later lol). one looked like a nice dark brown and the other looked like a medium brown but they ended up being sheer and really bad looking on me. they looked so pretty in the tube!
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? my aunt bought me mac viva glam iii and i LOVE it, it’s probably one of my favorite colors EVER and the formula is great. i’ll cherish it forever since there’s no way i’ll buy mac with my own money at this point haha. last thing i gifted was colourpop frida for my mom because she wanted a pinkish thing to wear for nice things – she loves it and it’s one of the only lip products she wears now!

Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? oh boy. The Nyx HD eyeshadow base and Makeup Revolution’s velvet matte lip lacquer. The base was greasy and oily and creased so badly and was just all around terrible. The lip lacquer applied nicely and was a nice color but it was so sticky that I couldn’t stand wearing it.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? My best friend bought me the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette for my birthday! I also just gifted her ColourPop’s Bumble and Trap because she hasn’t been feeling well lately 🙁

Recent love: Youngblood lipstick in Bistro, a deep burgundy. I wasn’t sure what to expect – first purchase of this brand! – but I looove it.
Recent disappointment: MAC Morange lipstick (the LE edition in the sunset packaging, forget the collection name). It’s a decent performer but for some reason, the colour oxidises on me and darkens quite a bit from the shade it is at application. So it doesn’t stay such a vivid orange.
Gift: Nails Inc varnish in British Racing Green for a friend who likes Formula 1.

Oh! Actually! I was a bit disappointed in UD’s De-Slick setting spray. I am still experimenting with it to see if there’s a way it will work for me but first off, denatured alcohol second on the ingredients list makes it unsuitable for regular wear for me. Second, I felt like it made me *shinier* after I sprayed it on and I needed to blot and powder like 30 minutes after I applied my makeup! I followed instructions but maybe I need to spray it even further away. Third, it didn’t do much to control oil for me as the day wore on . It’s not looking good — I hope there is a way it will work for me though.
If you use a foundation brush, try spritzing the brush with it. Or, if you normally apply a setting powder, try spraying after powdering.
Ohh thanks, I’ll have to try that! Do you know if it works with powder foundations too?I tried it sprayed on before putting my makeup on today — when I sprayed it on after I’d done my face, setting powders and all, it just broke my makeup down quicker than my face’s own oils would have.

▬ Bought into the hype and… Ugh! That foundation and I just did not agree. My face felt overly dry — which is weird, since I’m an oily skin type. It immediately reminded me of the MUFE Mat Velvet, which I can’t stand either!

▬ Gave it to my friend for her birthday. She always wanted that shade, but couldn’t find the logic behind spending $16 for a tube of lipstick. So, I found the logic for her — which is pretty easy for a makeup junkie 😛 — and bought it. She was REALLY happy to receive it, and she wears it frequently.

She doesn’t use much makeup but I thought a nice gloss would be welcome. I think she liked it. I don’t really have any friends who are into makeup at all. Pity, because sometimes you really want to talk about a new release or a disappointing product, or just share the happiness of a perfect lipcolour.

Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? Nyx eyeshadow single in STFU. Not very pigmented and I wish I had just spent the money to buy Make Up Forever Mimosa eyeshadow instead.
Last product you gifted (or received as a gift)? LunatiCK Cosmetics Labs new lipsticks and Hocus Pocus palette. Bruja and RPG are pretty (but pretty much the same color) but are lighter than my lips are naturally, so I’m not sure how often I will wear them. Cinderhella is beautiful but stains my lips so badly that I’m not sure it’s worth it (still-stained-the-next-day bad). The eyeshadows are very soft and blend into nothingness and get patchy if you get too vigorous with sweeping motions. They are beautiful colors and very pigmented so I’m sure I just need to play with them until I get used to the formula. I’ll probably use the eyshadows more than the lipsticks.

Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? Josie Maran’s tinted version of her SPF 47 Argan Daily Moisturizer. Surprisingly, the tinted one leaves a cast/makes me look ashy, and the regular one (which I love) does not.

Last product you purchased and loved? MUFE Pro Bronze Fusion bronzer (I have it in 15i Amber). Magic for getting that sun kissed glow to my pale skin! Very hard to overdo and not powdery at all! Got Sephora #43 bronzing brush (discontinued though) to go with it and it’s perfection! One thing – I don’t think its good for contouring, need more smth like Baby don’t Go from MAC.
Also, MAC Mineralize foundation Loose. My MAC SA suggested it as an alternative to MSFN, it is not!, but I still use it as a setting powder (small amount) for my liquid foundation (MUFE Liquid Lift and NARS Sheer Glow) and ! loove the finish.
Last product you purchased and were disappointed by? Gosh. As we just got UD here, I ran and bought myself some stuff, including 24/7 Velvet eye pencil in Lush. It was a disaster! It did not want to apply to my lids easily, when it did it was patchy and… it flaked!!! We cannot return makeup here in Russia at all, but I went to the store, applied it there, had to do some convincing like “how am I supposed to use it at all?” and they ended up exchanging it with 24/7 Glide On in Smoke which I totally love. Mind you, on my hand Lush swatched beautifully and even, dunno what the problem was.

Most colours have no good pigmentation and there is a lot of fallout. I expected the shadows to be more buttery and pigmented and easy to apply. I really struggle to apply them. So sad..
