Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Your skin tone/coloring: light, MAC NC 20

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? Applying Retinol and Vitamin C serums

Favorite step in your skincare routine? Washing my face. A clean face just feels so good!

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Removal of mascara. Such a pain!

Nancy T Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name (blue-green eyes, dark hair)

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? Applying one of my two favorite nighttime moisturizers, either Drunk Elephant Protini Peptide or Hada Labo Plumping Gel Cream. Both literally feel like my skin is getting a drink of water with either of those. The Hada Labo is perfect for summer when I’m more prone to breakouts, as it’s completely non-greasy. DE for the other 8 months of the year.

Favorite step in your skincare routine? Applying my bedtime routine steps! It just gives me a sense of something predictable and “regular” in an unpredictable, irregular world.

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Removing eye makeup! It’s just a hassle, really.

Your skin tone/coloring: Light neutral skin tone, green eyes, s&p hair

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? Kiehl’s Creme de Corp.

Favorite step in your skincare routine? Having a clean face when I go to bed.

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? As much as I love putting makeup on, skin care is kind of a chore for me.

Amery Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Fair-light
Most indulgent step your beauty routine? Retin-A and/or Farmacy Honeymoon Glow AHA serum.
Favorite step in your skincare routine? Using an oil cleanser to remove makeup and following up with a foaming cleanser. I almost love taking my makeup off as much as I love putting it on.
Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Removing my waterproof mascara.

Cherie Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: NC30/NC35; golden olive neutral
Most indulgent step your beauty routine? Tie between using my Darphin aroma cleansing balm or applying my serums from The Ordinary or NIOD.
Favorite step in your skincare routine? Oil cleanser as I take a full two minutes to just massage my face.
Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Removing waterproof makeup with waterproof mascara at the top of the list.

Rachel R. Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? I don’t know. It was getting my nails done, but that hasn’t happened since the pandemic hit.

Favorite step in your skincare routine? None. I find it all boring.

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Removing eye makeup. It’s good to get it off at the end of the day, but it can take a while because I favor bright shadows, and I wear a lot of eye makeup most days.

Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/neutral

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? Caudalie Vinoperfect Brightening Radiance Serum

Favorite step in your skincare routine? Peeling off nose strips once a week.

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Taking off eye makeup. When I don’t wear eye makeup I’m okay, but the area just outside my outer corner really stings no matter how gentle I am removing makeup.

Mariella Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: pale, cool
Most indulgent step your beauty routine? applying and smoothing in my Youth to the People Glowberry Oil
Favorite step in your skincare routine? Same as above OR using my Foreo cleansing device – my skin feels incredibly smooth afterward
Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Making sure all my eye makeup – particularly concealer – is all removed.

Your skin tone/colouring: Light medium, yellow undertones. Dark brown hair & eyes.

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? Love a good mask and I like to layer multiple serums and moisturisers and give myself 10 or so minutes to apply and massage them in – current fave combo is Darphin Hydraskin Light and Embryolisse Lait Creme mixed together over Good Molecules peptide serum.

Favourite step in your skincare routine? Putting on a really generous layer of luxurious lip balm at the end and then kissing my husband, ha ha.

Least favourite part of your skincare routine? Eye cream at the moment, for whatever reason my eyes are really watery lately and I feel like they leak constantly if I spend too long putting stuff around my eyes, especially in the morning.

Deborah S. Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair with cool to neutral undertones, grey hair and dark brown eyes.

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? This is likely going to sound weird but my favorite is the exfoliation step. I use the Tatcha Rice Powder Polish. I love the smell, the gentle texture and the foam I get when using it. I rub it in and massage for probably longer than necessary but I love how smooth my skin feels afterwards.

Favorite step in your skincare routine? Not sure the difference here but my next favorite after exfoliation is applying my moisturizer. I switch up moisturizer quite frequently depending on what my skin needs but anything that involves a facial massage is great by me.

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Although I don’t really hate any step, cleansing is not my favorite outside of the fact that I am finally getting to remove the days face.

Ana Maria Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Light-medium with warm yellow undertone, dark brown eyes and hair

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? Applying a silky serum or treatment with a luxurious texture, while massaging my skin.

Favorite step in your skincare routine? Every step, I like taking my time with skincare, enjoying each step. But top preference would be layering my treatments, studying my skin to decide what it needs that day. And make-up removal with a balm cleanser or oil.

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Not necessarily least favorite, but boring: applying a clay/charcoal mask and waiting for it to dry.

CatG Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Light with red
Most indulgent step your beauty routine? I would say using my high-end brushes (Chikuhodo, Hakuhodo, Sonia G)
Favorite step in your skincare routine? I love putting on serums!!
Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Taking off chunkier face masks

Genevieve Avatar

Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? I guess adding serums to my skin once the oil has soaked in. I am currently using Immortal’s Age Defying Night Serum.

Favorite step in your skincare routine? Adding an oil to my face – straight away my skin feels moisturised and hydrated. At the moment I am using Skin Physics Age Defying Oil and it has really improved my skin.
The Ordinary’s pure Moroccan Argon oil is pretty good too. I like to rotate my oils.

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Definitely removing mascara!

Kimberly Avatar

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? The moisturizer at the end of my nighttime skincare routine. Just some aloe vera gel from Nature Republic

Favorite step in your skincare routine? Washing my face! I used to hate washing my face as a kid but now especially with the hot weather in California it’s so refreshing

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? My vitamin C serum from Dear Klairs. Because it comes in a clear bottle I have to keep it stored away from the rest of my skincare to keep it from oxidizing. Also it’s very greasy and sticks to my hands, but I do it because I know it’s good for my skin

Celesta Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? I recently purchased a few Sonia G brushes (thank you, Christine, for all of your positive reviews on them; they’re a big reason I finally bit the bullet) and now doing my eyeshadow certainly feels indulgent!

Favorite step in your skincare routine? The last step: moisturizer.

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? Toning. But I do it anyway because it’s improved the texture of my skin a lot.

Jen Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Light, cool undertones

Most indulgent step your beauty routine? Perfume! I rarely wear any even though I enjoy it so when I do it makes me feel pretty extra lol Other than that: lipstick. It’s my favorite type of cosmetic so I have a lot of fun picking what I’m going to wear.

Favorite step in your skincare routine? May Coop’s Raw Sauce. I can practically feel it soaking in and hydrating my skin. It’s the step I look forward to most.

Least favorite part of your skincare routine? It takes tiiiimme… I’m whining but skincare is the canary in my personal mental health coal mine so keeping up with it is important for more than just good skin. But when I’m having not great days the mental energy required to do it can be more than what I have so there’s negotiations.
