Your hair type: thin, fine, straight and with a tendency to get greasy

Favorite shampoo/conditioner? I really like Fructis Pink Grapefruit shampoo

Favorite hair treatment? The Pro-Keratin mask from L’Oreal is definitely a favorite

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? I always shampoo my hair twice to really get rid of all the residu, and I use a lot of conditioner to detangle it, so I go through both fairly quick. I can’t say how many weeks exactly though, I am bad at guessing.

missrossre Avatar

Your hair type: fine, treated, highlighted, very very damaged hair.
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? kerastase resistence bain de force and Vita Ciment anti usure
Favorite hair treatment? kerastase vita ciment: nothing similar for my hair
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? a month, more or less

Rachel Avatar

Your hair type: Lots of fine hair. I like to call it combination hair where the under layers are curly and as you get closer to the top, they get more wavy. I also have straight hair in the front lol. I have a sensitive, oily scalp and have learned to stay away from Parabens and Sulfates (if I don’t I get terrible dandruff like symptoms, almost like psoriasis).

Favorite shampoo/conditioner?: It changes. Right now its Organix Tea Tree and Mint Shampoo and the Organix Biotin and Collagen Conditioner.

Favorite hair treatment?: Moroccanoil treatment and also their hydrating masks.

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner?: Not sure. I always go through the shampoo faster though.

Caroline Avatar

This is EXACTLY how I’d describe my hair. Maybe not too sensitive a scalp though. I hate how the curly underside has more of a tendency to break/be shorter than the rest of my hair since I do like to keep my hair fairly long.

Favorite shampoo/conditioner: I’m just using the Loreal Everpure Sulfate free line right now… I don’t like to spend too much on shampoo/conditioner. I am liking this one so far.

Favorite hair treatment: Neutrogena triple moisture mask… also just coconut oil

How long: I don’t really pay attention to it, but at least a few months, granted I switch it up between a few bottles (clarifying, dandruff, etc) so hard to tell.

â– Your hair type: Dry, treated, damaged, itchy and flaky scalp.
â– Favorite shampoo/conditioner? Herbal Essences Rose Shampoo and COnditionaer
â– Favorite hair treatment? Neutrogena Triple Moisture Recovery Mask
â– How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? Depends. If I’m leaving my hair curly every day, maybe two weeks. If I’m getting it blowdried at least 2-3 a month, than maybe close to 2-3 months.

Phyrra Avatar

Your hair type: Fine, thin, color treated.
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? DermOrganic Shampoo & Conditioner
Favorite hair treatment? DermOrganic Leave-in Spray Shine Therapy (heat protectant & smoother)
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? Months! I only wash my hair every 6-7 days.

Barbara Avatar

Type: Straight, fine but “heavy” (i.e. tends to be really flat, but there is a lot) hair.

Shampoo/Conditioner: Tigi Catwalk Volume or Tigi Urban Antidotes Re-Energize

Treatment: I don’t use any. I’ll admit, my hair is super resilient against heat from styling. But it also can’t hold a curl so I guess this is a “con”.

It takes a few months to go through my shampoo, but I get those 1L bottles on sale at Ulta. I also don’t wash/style my hair every day, probably every 2-3 days.

KaseyCannuck Avatar

Your hair type: Fine with a bit of wave

Favorite shampoo/conditioner? Organix Moroccan Oil

Favorite hair treatment? Organix Moroccan Oil, with Garnier Fructis Anti-Frizz Serum a close second

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? About 2 months, as I buy the Moroccan Oil as a set at Costco and the bottles of shampoo and conditioner are HUGE!!

xamyx Avatar

Type: Long, waist-length; slightly wavy; mildly coarse. My scalp is normal, but the ends are fairly dry, however, split-ends have never been an issue. I do dye my hair, so consistent trimming of the ends is crucial.

Shampoo/conditioner: I don’t really have one, and I typically switch every few weeks. Currently, I’m using Aussie Moist, but I’ll likely change to something else after a month, or so. My hair is quite low-maintenance when it comes to this aspect, and as long as I do a monthly switch of shampoo/conditioner, I have no issues with anything I use. I don’t spend alot of money on hair products, as I have no need to, so I grab whatever is on sale, and if I have a coupon, that’s an added bonus. I won the “genetic lottery” when it comes to hair, so aside from the occasional trim, there’s little effort needed to maintain it.

Leave-In: Aussie 3-Minute Miracle is one I use once in a while, but I usually just run argan or jojoba oil through the ends every day, which helps moisturize, detangle, and tame frizziness. Rosewater & Glycerin is also something I spray all over, especially in Winter, when my scalp can be drier.

How Long?: As I said, I alternate monthly, so I can’t really pinpoint the length of time. I also use various brands, which come in different sizes, and I may use more product with one, and less with another. I also apply only shampoo to the scalp/above the neck, and conditioner only on the ends, so although I have very long hair, I use the same amount of product as someone with “average” length hair. The frequency of washing also varies, depending on the weather; I wash it 3-4 times a week when it’s hot, but 1-2X a week when it’s cooler.

Erin Avatar

Your hair type: Fine, colored, shoulder-length
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? still looking for a favorite, but LUSH’s Seanik always comes on vacation with me
Favorite hair treatment? Kerastase masks
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? a long time, as I only use a nickel-sized amount 2-3 times per week

Wwendalynne Avatar

Hair Type: Ultra fine, poker straight, with a serious tendency to tangle

Favourite Shampoo/Conditioner: Anything by Aveda, I use the line for colour treated hair, but also a bit of the Invati shampoo for thinning hair just on the scalp as a second wash. Autoimmune illness causes me to lose hair periodically.

Favourite Hair Treatment: Aveda Damage Remedy – a protein Leave-in treatment which helps with the nasty tangles

Length of time a bottle of shampoo lasts: A couple of months. I do not wash my hair every day and use small amounts of shampoo. If I really wet my hair, I find I need less. Dry shampoo is good friend. My fav idry shampoo s by T3, a discontinued product which is becoming almost impossible to find even on eBay. I’ve tried the others and none come close.

Lisa Avatar

Your hair type: Very thick (and LOTS of it), damaged, treated, straight

Favorite shampoo/conditioner? Right now I’m really loving A/G Refuel and Restore keratin shampoo and conditioner.

Favorite hair treatment? I kind of have two. LOVE it’s a 10 miracle hair mask and Aphogee 2 step protein treatment. I couldn’t live without either one of them. They have dramatically improved my hair.

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? Well, I typically buy 1 liter bottles on sale so it takes about two years to finish. 🙂

tzwiggy Avatar

Your hair type: THICK, coarse, wavy, frizzy

Favorite shampoo/conditioner? L’Anza Healing Strength! Sulfate free, smells amazing and makes my hair super soft and smooth.

Favorite hair treatment? Joico K-PAK Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor.

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? 3 months for shampoo, 1 1/2 – 2 years for conditioner ._. I always shampoo my hair twice, and only use a small amount of conditioner from my ears down. Too much conditioner and I’ll spend 10-15 minutes trying to rinse it all out.

Cayla29s Avatar

Hair type – fine to medium straight and oily
Favourite shanpoo – I don’t have any. I tend to switch thing up but anything volumizing
Favourite Treatment – coconut oil once a week and Ojon reverse serum hair treatment before blowdrying.
How long does it take me to go through shampoo – depending on the bottle but usually 3-4 weeks of shampoo. I don’t need conditioner

Jo Avatar

Your hair type: thick and pretty much normal

Favorite shampoo/conditioner? Kerastase – I change which one every so often though

Favorite hair treatment? I don’t really have one!

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? I started my bottle around Christmas and I’ve still got a bit left..! I only need to wash my hair about twice a week and I’ve had it cut really short so I can justify buying good shampoo when it lasts so long. I didn’t realise other people went through shampoo so quickly though!

Aida Avatar

Your hair type: curly, color treated, slightly dry ends
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? Yes To Carrots Nourishing Shampoo / It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-in conditioner
Favorite hair treatment? Coconut oil
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? I’ve never really thought about it, but the YTC bottles are big and they seem to last me a pretty long while, so I’d say two-three months.

Kate Avatar

Your hair type: Weird. Very fine individual hairs, but LOTS of them, so my hair overall is really thick. It’s kind of wavy. Dry, largely because it’s been chemically treated for a long time, but doing much better now because…

Favorite shampoo/conditioner?… I found a couple of amazing products! Shampoo-wise, I absolutely adore Lush’s Cynthia Sylvia Stout. I love the scent, but more importantly, I love the way it makes my hair feel. I can feel the clean when I use this! My hair is quite literally squeaky clean when I rinse it out, but it’s not ever drying. One thing I have noticed is that it is much better for dark hair than light (even if it’s dyed). I didn’t find it gentle enough for my hair when I had it bleached.
For conditioner, I’ve absolutely fallen in love with Babyliss Pro Argan Oil conditioner. Hands down, the best conditioner I’ve ever used! Leaves my hair incredibly soft.

Favorite hair treatment? I use Moroccan Oil most days as a leave in, which is amazing, but for weekly deep treatments, I’ve really gotten to like Klorane Desert Date mask.

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner?
Conditioner, a month or less. Shampoo, probably three months.

Katie Avatar

Your hair type: Long, thin, wavy with a tendency towards oiliness rather than dryness.
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? CHI Infra Shampoo & Treatment – It makes my hair incredibly strong.
Favorite hair treatment? Hands down, Redken Smooth Lock Butter SIlk
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? I buy the large 32 oz. containers so maybe 6 months.

Meghan Avatar

Your hair type: Really long, fine (but a lot of it), tends to be on the oilier side near the roots (but I usually go at least two days without washing), normal through the ends (not dry anyway).
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? You know I’m not sure! I’ve been trying out a few from Bumble & bumble, Living Proof, next to try is Pureology (even though I don’t have colored hair). It’s been -years- and I’m still looking for *the ones*. I used to love “Tame” – anyone remember that stuff!? The shampoo & conditioner my hair dresser uses are great (Surface) – I may give those a real go.
Favorite hair treatment? Moroccanoil Weightless Hydrating Mask – oooh love love love this stuff. Makes my hair so soft without weighing it down (too much).
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? Small Bumble & bumble bottles of shampoo and conditioner have lasted me about 8 months… A really long time I think!

A. Mar Avatar

Your hair type: Fine hair but quite a bit of it.
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? Most often I’ll use Lemongrass and Clary Sage products from Nature’s Gate or Big and Veganese from LUSH. I’ll buy Philip B. Nordic Wood at random. Love, love that scent.
Favorite hair treatment? Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil Treatment.
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? Around a month or so.

Ana Avatar

Your hair type: Oily, coarse and straight
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? L’oreal (ever line: pure, creme and strenght) sulfate-free shampoo and for conditioner I like the aussie 3 miracle moisture deep conditioner.
Favorite hair treatment? I’m on the hunt for a good treatment.
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? Shampoo 1-2 months, conditioner about 3-4 months since I only use it on my ends.

Frizzylocks Avatar

Hair type: insanely dry damaged and crazy curly
Faverite shampoo /conditioner: John freida dream curles conditioner I love it! It is amazing for my hair
Hair treatment: avocado oil
To be honest I go through a bottle of conditioner every 10 days more if I am swiming. Shampoo drys out my hair so I don’t use it.

Else Avatar

Your hair type: Fine, coarse, thin, curly, frizzy.
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? John Frieda Dream Curls series. It really makes my curls look like proper curls, instead of hanging loosely in untidy half-curls.
Favorite hair treatment? John Frieda Intensive Masque.
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? Depends. Right now I have three different sets at different places, but before it took me nearly two months to finish the shampoo, and almost half a month more to finish the conditioner.

â—¾Favorite shampoo/conditioner? Dessert Essence Lemon-Tea Tree shampoo; Shikai Mist ‘n’ Go leave-in conditioner
â—¾Favorite hair treatment? I don’t currently have one – as my general health has improved, so has my hair’s condition. For the first time in my adult life, I have NO split ends in my shoulder-length hair. =D
â—¾How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? about six to eight weeks, since I don’t wash my hair daily

Your hair type: Thick, Dry, Damaged/Treated

Favorite shampoo/conditioner? Currently, I’m Loving Bed Head’s Urban Antidotes Shampoo and Conditioner. I bleached my hair about 2 weeks ago and this combo has been a saving grace.

Favorite hair treatment? I’m loving this L’oreal mask; I can’t remember the name but it’s drugstore level and it works like a dream.

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? Probably about 2/3 months (but I buy the liter size)

1.Very fine, long hippy hair =), bleached white and prematurely turning white – i used to have very abundant hair, but anorexia took that away =(, I am praying it will return <3.
2.I rotate between Kerastase Resistance Bain Force Architecte Reconstructing shampoo and conditioner, and Kerastase Nutritive Bain Nutri-Thermique Thermo-Reactive Intensive Nutrition shampoo and conditioner. The latter is INCREDIBLE, beyond anything i've ever used, makes my hair feel soft and silky like babies hair =)!
3.Favourite treatments include the above complimenting hair masques and Kerastase Chronologiste
4. Go through everything pretty quickly, usually wash hair twice then apply conditioner and i do this twice a week

Frizzylocks Avatar

Good luck I hope it grows back super strong for you. Sending you loads of possitive thoughts and vibes for your recovery. I have always wanted to try that conditioner I think it’s about time I purchase it!

Carla N. Avatar

I agree with Frizzylocks – I hope your hair comes back, better than ever!
There’s a good chance that it will – I lost about 2/3 of my hair years ago, due to medication I had to be given for brain swelling, and my hair grew back, just in time to be thin because of menopause! :/
Still, I have *enough* hair, and it’s in great condition. Usually, better general health = better skin and hair.
I wish you the best in your recovery!

-loosely curly hair, but still defined curls, very thin and not that much hair, very prone to frizz and gets oily at the roots in one day
-pureology hydrate shampoo, aussie 3 minute miracle deeeeeep conditioner (used daily)
-l’oreal total repair damage erasing balm
-shampoo takes me about 2-3 weeks while conditioner takes about 2 months

Mariella Avatar

Your hair type: thick, coarse and wavy, colour-treated
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? for shampoo, AG, Matrix for coloured hair, for conditioner, Redken All-Soft Heavy Cream or AG Ultra Moist
Favorite hair treatment? Aveda Smoothing Infusion mixed with original Moroccan Oil and also Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Serum
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? I buy litre sized bottles at the beauty supply and generally, one will last about 6 months but I do alternate among a few types of shampoo so I’m just guessing. Conditioners tend to last longer since (a) I don’t condition every time (which is why I love leave in oils and serums) and (b) I’ve got 3 or 4 conditioners on the go at any one time.

Jay Avatar

Your hair type: Thick, straight, colour-treated; a chin-length bob.
Favorite shampoo/conditioner? Suave’s tropical coconut shampoo is nice, I’m using that one right now. My hair is low maintenance, though, so I don’t have many problems picking a brand. When I run out, I generally just sniff shampoos in the drugstore until I find one that smells pretty and switch to that! I’m a bit pickier about conditioner – Aussie’s 3-Minute Miracle has been my go-to for years.
Favorite hair treatment? Healthy Sexy Hair’s soy renewal treatment is nice. I’ll shampoo and then run a dollop of it through my hair before I go to sleep. Then I can wake up in the morning with my hair already sleek; I can just wash my face, apply make-up, and go!
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? I usually go through a bottle of shampoo in a month and a half.

Jolie Avatar

Your hair type:
=> Weird triangle-type, greasy and limp at the roots, frizzy near the ends (from years of bleaching), overly thinned from a bad haircut. >: It reaches the bottom of my shoulderblades (which is much shorter than I’m used too, again, bad haircut), and is straight with very slight waves,

Favorite shampoo/conditioner?
=> Since going darker/ombre from 7 years of bleaching my hair blonde, my roots find my usual smoothing shampoo (L’Oreal Elvive Smooth-Intense) too heavy, while the part that used to be blonde gets stripped off the coppery brown dye pretty quickly. Nowadays I’ve been using L’Oreal EverPure Smoothing Shampoo, which is okay but still makes my roots greasy and strips the dye somewhat. My new favorite conditioner is the L’Oreal Elvive Total Repair.

Favorite hair treatment?
L’Oreal Smooth-Intense hair mask — I use it everytime I wash my hair, just on the bleached parts. Aside from that, I love extra virgin olive oil followed with L’Oreal Smooth-Intense serum before blow-drying. I also love Epically Epic’s dry oil spray on the second or third day after washing — Especially love how you can create your own fragrance!

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner?
About 4 months for conditioner, 2 months for shampoo.

Cassie Avatar

Hair type – thick, semi wavy, long, color treated and dry

Favorite shampoo – anything that’s hydrating. I do love the Dove extreme repair conditioner.

Favorite hair treatment – warm olive oil and eggs. I’ll let it sit on my hair for half an hour under a plastic bag. Makes me hair super shiny and makes my scalp feel awesome.

How long does a bottle last – shampoo lasts forever. I only shampoo my scalp a couple times a week. Conditioner I go through a bottle in 2-3 months. Sometimes I’ll skip shampoo and just use conditioner. If I shampoo my hair too often my hair get brittle and breaks.

Favorite shampoo/conditioner:
L’oreal Paris EverCrème Intense Nourishing Shampoo and Aussie Moist Conditioner.

Favorite hair treatment:
Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner and GVP Conditioning Balm (Compare to Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm) from Sally Beauty Supply.

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner?
The shampoo lasts about 4 months and I go through one 29.2 fl oz bottle of Aussie Moist and one 8 fl oz bottle of Aussie 3 Minute Miracle per month. I co-wash about twice a week and shampoo once per week.

Emme Avatar

BTW…I deep condition with a mix of the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle and GVP Biolage Balm mixed with jojoba oil once per week after I shampoo.

How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner?: A long time, I don’t use very much except on my scalp when I really scrub it in. It’s gonna take me a while to go through my pink shampoo.

Favorite hair treatment: Macadamia natural oil deep repair mask and the healing oil from the same brand.

How long does it take you to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner?: I normally wash my hair once a week, I shampoo twice and then use the mask. My shampoo usually last me about 6 months (I use the regular size) and my macadamia mask also lasts me about 6 months (I use the biggest size, because I use A LOT).

I usually only use hair treatment/oil on the ends to keep them healthy.
Favorite hair treatment? I like Argan Oil and the Pearatin Fortifying Repair Treatment With Keratin for the ends.
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? Depends on the bottle, a few months for the Suave and around 1-1 1/2 for the Neutrogena.

Favorite shampoo/conditioner? – Morrocan Oil Restore Repair Mask / L’oreal professionnel hair spa – I know they are masques, but I use a coin sized amount of the MorroacanOil mask, one a week and the l’oreal hair spa the other two occasions. Both fantastic – though the M brand is costs three times as much.
Favorite hair treatment? Moroccanoil treatment
How long does it take to go through a bottle of shampoo/conditioner? I usually buy the large bottles/pots and wash every alternate day, so they usually last anywhere between 4 to 5 months.
