Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!
Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).
We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Your skin tone/coloring: light, MAC NC 20
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? Right now I have Chanel Le Teint Velvet, Revlon Colorstay for Normal to Dry and Misha BB Cream. They make my skin look good!
Go-to primer to all-day wear? I don’t believe there is such a thing imo
Go-to cry-proof mascara? I don’t have an issue with mascara running. I don’t buy waterproof. I’m panning Armani Black Ecstasy in Obsidian Black
Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? I mix the CoverGirl/Olay Advanced Radiance and Simply Ageless Foundations together with a bit of Paula’s Choice Super Light Daily Wrinkle Defense Sunscreen, and that is about as flawless as I care to get. All of my foundation preferences lean very light coverage, so my skin, in whatever state it happens to be in, is always shining through.
Go-to primer to all-day wear? I don’t really have one. I usually just use glowy moisturizers.
Go-to cry-proof mascara? The best mascara in the world, GrandeLash mascara. It’s not officially “waterproof” but I have cried many-a-tear in it and have never had problems.
Your skin tone/coloring:. Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? Lancome Teint Idole Long Wear Foundation.
Go-to primer for all-day wear? MILK Hydrogrip
Go-to cry-proof mascara? Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes. (I’m allergic to most
other waterproof mascaras.)
Your skin tone/coloring: pale, cool
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? Diorskin Forever (I think the formula I’ve been using is discontinued/reformulated but it’s so hard to tell) or a long discontinued Shiseido one called Sheer and Perfect. I’m using the very last of it in a very miserly fashion but I should just go for broke before it becomes unusable.
Go-to primer to all-day wear? Becca Backlight Priming Filter or Lise Watier Base Miracle (it really is a bit of a miracle!)
Go-to cry-proof mascara? I rarely wear mascara and on those rare occasions when I might be crying in public, I don’t care if my mascara ends up a mess.
Your skin tone/coloring: Very pale, slightly cool (NW10 or NW15)
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? PURITO snail clearing BB cream, but it’s discontinued so PURITO Cica Clearing BB Cream in #21 Light Beige
Go-to primer for all-day wear? elf Poreless Putty Primer
Go-to cry-proof mascara? HEROINE MAKE Long and Curl Mascara Super Waterproof 01 Jet Black. That shit isn’t going ANYWHERE.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light-medium with warm yellow undertone, dark brown hair and eyes
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? Either Estee Lauder Double Wear or MAC Prolongwear Waterproof (to me their almost identical)
Go-to primer to all-day wear? Hourglass Mineral Veil
Go-to cry-proof mascara? I don’t remember last time I cried with mascara on, but my eyes are very sensitive and watery. Since my eyes regularly tear, I can only wear waterproof mascara. The MAC In Extreme Dimension never smudged on me, but I really need to remove my makeup well, I sometimes find leftover black strands in my tearduct.
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain with pink undertones
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? Clarins Everlasting foundation (alas my shade is d/c). L’Oreal’s True Match is pretty good, but I think the Clarins one is superior.
Go-to primer to all-day wear? Nude by Nature Airbrush Primer
Go-to cry-proof mascara? A Rimmel one – I don’t always wear mascara, but this is a goodie when I do.
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name (blue-green eyes, dark hair).
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Long Wear foundation.
Go-to primer to all-day wear? For all day staying power, Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel. No joke.
Go-to cry-proof mascara? L’Oreal Lash Paradise WP or Maybelline Full & Soft WP.
Your skin tone/coloring: pale cool-neutral undertone, freckles, flush easily
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? Revolution Conceal and Define in F1 applied via sponge
Go-to primer to all-day wear? I don’t typically use a primer.
Go-to cry-proof mascara? Covergirl Clump Crusher
Your skin tone/coloring: very fair with a strongish yellowundertone
Go-to foundation for flawless skin: i love ABH luminous foundation as it just gives a really lovely finish. tbh i’m still on the hunt for a flawless foundation as most OG ones aren’t cruetly free and available in the UK, but hopefully oneday i’ll experience that flawless feeling.
Go-to primer to all-day wear: i recently re-discovered my smashbox primerizer and man it’s nice on the skin. if i want my makeup to stay all day, i’ll usually just douse my face in UD’s all nighter spray – an oldie but a goodie.
Go-to cry-proof mascara: unless i’m wearing a heavy eye look, i usually have to wear a real transfer proof mascara as i have hooded eyes so my go-to for that is my Hourglass Caution mascara which i love because i don’t find it too difficult to remove in the evening and it NEVER flakes
Your skin tone/coloring: light, cool, pink
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? I used to love the bareSkin® Pure Brightening Serum Foundation.
Go-to primer to all-day wear? I’m just starting to try out primers. (Late in the game, I know).
Go-to cry-proof mascara? Essence Princess Waterproof
At first I was stumped on all these questions. I have aged a bit since I last wore full face of makeup, and I am still trying stuff out and hoping to find the right primer and foundation for my current skin.
Question: I’ve been wanting to ask someone this! What happened to the serum foundation trend, and why are most companies discontinuing their serum foundations?
Skin tone/coloring: Light neutral
Go-to foundation for flawless skin: These days I’m using about four different foundations I’ve managed to aquire, while I’m still in my palest winter skin. The only consistency is I’ve been mixing them all with Becca Dewing Tint in Luminary 1.
Go-to primer to all-day wear: That’s a good question, I’ve not found a difference in them for the most part. I do use the Milk Blur Stick on and around my nose (which seems to hold well, even if I’m using tissues), then whatever else I grab from my stash elsewhere on my face, mostly these days Becca First Light. I used to be a die-hard Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer user, but I’m finding it balls up if I’m not super careful. The liquid version is much better!
Go-to cry-proof mascara: I don’t wear waterproof mascara, it’s too hard to take off and I feel I lose lashes when I do. I might have taken a small sample when I went to Costa Rica to combat the 100% humidity, but not sure what it was, maybe Lancome Monsieur Big?
Your skin tone/coloring: under my name
Go-to foundation for flawless skin? Lancome stick foundation; Chanel Velvet foundation. They seem to be life/mask/horse/garden proof so far.
Go-to primer to all-day wear? Supergoop SPF 50 sunscreen; that’s really about it. If I need more “tacky-ness” the Cover FX gripping primer or a spray of UD All nighter
Go-to cry-proof mascara? Chanel Volume Waterproof. works through a pandemic, working in the office, dear hubby getting (and beating!) cancer, wild-fires, horses, cattle, gardening, and oh yes, even reading a book outside. I usually layer the Chanel 3D mascara first, then the waterproof over.
