Is bronzer a must-have? – I’ve never been into the concept. I’m alabaster-level pale (NW5, BB’s Porcelain, etc) with cool undertones and have found bronzer to be just a mess on me, almost always making me look orange. I’m trying to learn to be at ease with my pastiness.

I might as well be an albino, I always win the “who is paler?” contest, with any friend that thinks they are fair-skinned. I’m so white I’m nearly translucent, so I try to steer of any opportunities to tan. Weird part? I didn’t used to be like this as a kid, but man, there’s no way I could be as dark as I used to be in the summer now!
I know how you feel–I am so pale and actually I really like rocking it. I’ve tried lots of bronzers but always felt that they make me look dirty or orange. I just recently discovered the bronzer holy grail, though! NARS illuminator in Laguna. Just a tiny bit, rub it into your face and amazing!!!! It’s scary actually before you rub it in because it is really dark but then it looks perfect after it’s rubbed in. You should seriously try it out. I love that it’s liquid because it feels like it sinks into my skin rather than sit on top of it like a powder bronzer. I am in love with it and feel that it gives me just the right amount of glow while still looking really natural-even on someone as pale as me! I imagine it would also look amazing on darker skin tones, too.

No. It just makes my pale skin look odd. I don’t like tans anyway. Tans make me look mismatched and uneven.
I find it odd when people use bronzer to contour. Contour powder is to contour, not bronzer. (Contour powder is neutral while bronzer is warm and somewhat orange-y, like the Australian Outback.)
