Summer Makeup with Chanel

Summer Makeup with Chanel

You can’t review new products without actually testing them, right?  Here’s a look I put together to test out some of the products from Chanel’s summer collection!  Reviews/swatches to come 🙂

You will need the following…

  • Eyes:  NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base, Chanel Lilium Eyeshadow Quad (beige, chartreuse, blackened green, mauve-taupe), Make Up For Ever #17L Aqua Eyes (chartreuse), Hourglass Film Noir Mascara (black)
  • Face: Ellis Faas SkinVeil (S104), Guerlain Les Violettes Mineral Powder (03)
  • Cheeks: Chanel Bronze Corail Soleil Tan de Chanel (bronze with coral)
  • Lips: Chanel Sari Dore Rouge Coco Lipstick (coral orange), Chanel Pensee Glossimer (sheer coral)
  • Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 222 (fluffy crease brush), 184 (fan brush)

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye with the 249.  Apply the chartreuse eyeshadow to the lower half of the lid from inner to outer with the 239, just patting it on.  Next, apply the mauve-taupe eyeshadow above the crease with the 222, blending outwards.  With the 239, apply the blackened green eyeshadow into the crease with the 239, blending slightly downwards to cover the remaining portion of the lid and softening with the chartreuse eyeshadow.  Highlight the brow bone with the beige eyeshadow with the 217.  Apply 17L liner on the lower water line, and then smudge the blackened green eyeshadow against the lower lash line with the edge of the 239.  Finish by sweeping lashes with Film Noir mascara.

For cheeks, apply Bronze Corail bronzer on the apples of the cheeks and sweep towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Sari Dore lipstick first, then top with Pensee glossimer for a complementing lip.

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Christine, this is a gorgeous look on you! Its rather rare to see eye shadows demonstrated on brown eyes in the magazines, so I’m more confident that a look will translate well for me when I see it on you. Also love to see the cheek and lips you’ve paired with the eyes. Thanks for always bringing us such beautiful, creative and wearable examples!

Such a beautiful look, Christine! I’ll have to try and recreate it with things I already have in my stash, though… will you do a review with suggestions for dupes?

This particular quad is lovely on you. It brings out the warm honey tones in your brown eyes. In fact, this entire Chanel look really suits your coloring.

This is gorgeous, Christine! I love the way you used the quad. I think I’ll be purchasing this for summer. Thanks for showing me how to use it!

Eeeeeeeeeeeee! You’re amazing and wonderful and gorgeous!

I was so hoping you’d do a look and review the Chanel quad and you’ve just made my day! Lovely!

The greens looks amazing with your eyes! I have the same coloring as you; I think I’ll be buying something from Chanel that isn’t mascara for the first time very soon lol.

WOW! i am generally not a fan of greens but this combination and the way you did your eye is simply stunning! congratulations on your excellent skills!!!

I will surely buy this quad for my nordic blue eyes and it will be as hot view as yours is but in other style! I love this quad. Thank you Christine! 🙂

Breathtakingly Beautiful! I love these greens and mostly ALL greens but I have true green eyes. Do you think it’s just too much green for me?

The make-up is amazing! I’m trying to do the same, but it doesn’t work…I’ll be trying, cause I want the same. Thank you! You’re wonderful!

You have officially inspired me to lust after (and I *will* buy them all eventually) three Chanel quads: Lilium, Enigma and Kaska Beige. It would be great if you could slowly but surely work your way through doing looks with all of the Chanel quads that they currently sell. Terrible for my wallet, but wonderful for inspiration!

is it easier to blend and put on the make up w/ the certian brushes you use like the 239…ect?
or can you use any brush to put on the make up & still have the same results you hve?
