Summer Makeup: Molten Lava Goes To the Beach

Summer Makeup: Molten Lava Goes To the Beach

Happy Thursday, everyone! 🙂 I hope everyone’s been having a fantastic week — almost to the weekend (a long one, if you’re in the U.S., too!).  I totally went to my comfort zone with this look — metallic, bronzy, coppery shades.  I can’t remember if I’ve done a look like this recently, but I don’t think I’ve done it usually mostly permanent eyeshadows!  I snuck some To the Beach products in there, in honor of the official launch.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Free Love eyeshadow on the inner half of the lid, then lightly layer with Goldmine eyeshadow and blend upwards into the tearduct. Lightly blend Firecracker eyeshadow on the outer half of the lid with the 239. Next, apply Bronze eyeshadow into the crease with the 226, lightly blending outwards and upwards to fade to the brow bone. With the 239, apply Amber Lights eyeshadow into the lower crease and then blended towards the outer corner and lid. Blend Nylon eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Lucky eyeliner on the lower lash line and Black Black pencil on the lower waterline.  Line the upper lash line with Rich Ground fluidline applied with the 208; then pat Goldmine eyeshadow on top to lighten.  Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Get-Away Bronze blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Thrills lipstick first, and then layer Easy Lounger lipglass for a complementing lip.

I absolutely loooove this look! Could i use melon pigment instead of UD free love e/s?
How close is Firecracker to Hot Hot Hot?
Thank you!

what do you think of the nars eyeshadow base christine? this is lovely, i would never think of using coloured eyeliner on the upper lashline cause i usually use black for definition but this is pretty!

These colours suit you very well! I have very fair, cool toned skin so sadly they would not look as good on me. Thrills lipstick looks gorgeous, however I think I’m going to go for Lazy Day lipstick, even though it seems to be a bit of a generic MAC colour.

oh wow, this is stunningly beautiful! I think I’m going to try this look (I have to use different products, I don’t have everything you listed)… its a great warm weather look!

Christine,

WOW!

What a gorgeous look! I’m loving it! I decided to copy that look to go to the MAC store today to get my TTB stuff!

Thanks and have a great weekend!

This is gorgeous! I’m totally loving Firecracker eyeshadow! It actually pairs with Paradisco really well, which makes me happy since I’ve always struggled to find a use for it in the past.

Eeek! This is SUCH a gorgeous look on you, Christine! It brings out your eyes and makes them look oh-so-bright. 😀

I’m thinking that I’ll have to go to MAC and buy Firecracker now after taking it out of my cart to exercise some restraint. Love how it looks in the looks you’ve featured.

The LIPS! I’m getting Thrills today, very excited to do so 🙂 (And hopefully Marine Life…I’m going on my lunch break, so I will cross my fingers!) Hey, I know this might be a stretch for your memory but can you remember how Easy Lounger compares with Mimmy from Hello Kitty? Mimmy was my first lipglass and it’s just about out for me…it’s my nice “add some gloss and shimmer without changing much” color and I’m trying to figure out what to replace it with.

The colors in the eyes are so beautifully coordinated. I’m impressed with how nice Lucky looks with a black liner and Rich Ground + Goldmine…WOW.

Christine Avatar

Good luck, Daphne!! 🙂

Mimmy is actually kind of like it, now that I think about it. I think Easy Lounger will look pinker to you in the tube, but it doesn’t do THAT much to the color. The shimmer in it is really fine and pretty… it seems different than the usual lipglass shimmer.

I hate you for doing these great looks that make me want to stop studying and go play with makeup!
Just kidding, of course 🙂 Very purrty.

Baby, you look spectacular, you are beautiful and really make this look so pretty …
I am planning my makeup for my wedding day, and every time I feel more confused = (!! Any idea is welcome =))

I love this look, and I definitely will try recreating this one!
Oh and by the way, you look great in these pictures, you really are glowing!

Eileen Avatar

This is one of the prettiest looks you’ve done in awhile. The colors are very complimentary and wearable. You look like a summer day personified.

Could Firecracker be a dupe for Marine Life? I know it’s kind of odd, but it really looks similar to the reddish-coral part of Marine life…..

Carolina Avatar

Wow, wow, wow, this is AMAZING! I love the eyes and the gold touch of the lips, but the distance of the full face photo really doesn’t make justice to this amazing look. I bet it looked mind-blowing in person. Wow…

This look is beautiful Christine! I think this is one of my favorites! I have a question, what is the Mac Pro call number? I want to see if I can order Marine Life, Hippness Blush, and Thrills Lipstick since they all are sold out online!
Thanks 🙂
