Sugarpill Smitten Chromalust Pigment Review, Photos, Swatches
Sugarpill Smitten Chromalust Pigment
Sugarpill Smitten Chromalust Pigment ($12.00 for 0.19 oz.) is described as a “shimmery hot magenta loaded with reflective sparks.” It’s a vibrant, fuchsia pink with lighter pink and white shimmer and sparkle. Too Faced Totally Fetch (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery. Urban Decay Noise (LE, $18.00) is more muted. MAC Tease with Ease (DC, $21.00) is darker, warmer. Estee Lauder Violet Underground #1 (LE, $21.00) is darker. Fyrinnae Superstar (P, $6.00) is similar. Sugarpill Magentric (P, $12.00) is more muted, purpler. Sugarpill Decora (P, $12.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches. (You can see them on The Dupe List here.)
It’s a new and limited edition shade from Sugarpill’s loose eyeshadow range. Applied dry, it had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color payoff, and when applied with a dampened brush (I just used water), it’s intensely pigmented and very, very smooth. The texture is so soft and silky, as it is very finely-milled, so it almost melts against the skin. Smitten wore well for nine hours and had some light fading after that, and it very lightly stained my lids but was gone by morning.

Convinced my dad to order this for me as a Valentine’s Day gift! >:)
Your dad is awesome 🙂
Haha, you’re just too cute:-)
Thats a very very pretty look an a gorgeous shade!!!!!
Thank you!
Oooh my heart just skipped a beat, I REALLY want this.
It’s so fun and bright!
I love when you do purple looks! I’m so uninspired by pinks and purples, so your looks give me ideas.
Thanks so much, LU!
What a stunning colour 🙂 it’s one of those ones where i feel I could just stare into the pot at the pigment itself!
Love the look you did with it too – you’re inspiring me recently to try putting more distinctly different colours together on my lids! 😀
Ooh, I’m honored to have inspired you a little! 🙂
Gorgeous! I already own MAC Tease with Ease and this is reminding me to dig it out!
Good idea 🙂
That’s a very pretty look.
Thank you!
Yes, or no? My brother is in the background and saying absolutely not! Ignore him….or not…? Will I use this or am I being lured in by the “limited edition”?
Do you wear fuchsia eyeshadow? Can you think of three ways you’d wear it?
Lips, blush and as a liner? Not sure I can make it work much as a shadow… maybe in the crease. Will have to play some with my existing fuchsia some to see what I can do!
I recently had someone (MAC) apply it under my eye/lower lash as a liner and it was so pretty! Three ways? Absolutely not!!!! So, thanks for help on that…it’s a good question to ask. Three ways or no. This will be a no. So pretty however!
Thanks!
No problem! 🙂
Do you like loose cosmetics? I wear a lot of bright colors (I have TWO hot pink eyeliners), but I never use loose eyeshadow, so this would be a no-go for me, although it’s very pretty!
And there is the second helpful answer to my question! I keep trying to like loose powders but usually (always) make a mess when I try to use them. So, another no. Thanks!!!
I can only deal with the tightly pressed loose stuff, like L’Oreal Infallible or Armani ETK without getting annoyed at the mess.
Glad it helped, I always have to remind myself about this sort of thing when indies come out with really complex colors that aren’t pressed!
I feel like I’d love this as a blush…
I think it might be a wee bit too shimmery as a blush–unless you love a really frosted/sparkly blush, that is 🙂
Trying to convince my boyfriend to order me the Sugarpill bundle for Valentine’s >w< Unlikely though, LOL, but I really do want Smitten!
Good luck convincing him!
Just caved and bought it myself. I will be my own Valentine!
I don’t know if it’s just me, but my eyes hurt at the first image. -_-
Good look, by the way! Probably have to tone it down for blue or green eyes, though, but it’s still really pretty,
Haha! Yes, it is very bright 🙂
I noticed you test all of these products on yourself. What is your favorite makeup remover to use or any tips for gentle removal? Thanks! 🙂
Hi Melissa!
I use a cleansing oil, like shu’s, usually!
Wow look at that pigmentation! This is great for people that like bold looks but this pink shade would look great in the summer. I love mixing pink and orange in the summer for eyeshadows :).
Good idea, Shelby!
So pretty omg!! I don’t even like pigments but I want it lol
Aww!
Ordered it already when it launched yesterday. Glad to see it’s slightly different fro Decora. 🙂
By the way, Christine, are you going to review their new brushes too?
Not sure!
Well, I don’t think Smitten would work on my skin tone. But I now want Mac Tease with Ease 😛
You might still be able to find it!
What a color! I love the look you did. Definitely going to try to do something like that!
Thank you, Sarah! 🙂
Love this!! Also loving the color combo you did here! (:
Thanks a lot, Lupe!
Oh I love this bright eye look!
Thanks, Denise!
The look you created is super pretty! I’m going to dug out my fuchsia eyeshadow and try using it more now 😀
Thanks so much, PA!
I’ve never been one to wear really bright eyeshadows, but that’s really pretty. I love the whole eye look! 🙂
Thanks so much, Melinda! 🙂
Thats such a gorgeous pigment and I love the outer box. the eyemakeup is flawless!
Thanks a lot, Lisha! ;D
Do you know if you’ll be trying their new brushes as well?
Not sure yet!
Hot 😀 I love how hot pink looks all over my upper eyelid <3 I got one that's neon
Nice!
How does this compare with UD Woodstock? Also MAC Fuchsia pigment?
Woodstock is darker, Fuchsia is much more muted.
Thank you sooo much Christine! I’m so glad you like it. I didn’t even think to pair it with gold, but I’m totally gonna steal your look now!
Can’t wait to see how you interpret it, Amy! 🙂
I’m surprised I like this! Do you think it could be added to lets say Rosebud Lip Salve for a stronger tint?
I think you could!
It reminds me a lot of MAC Romp/Romping (MAC – Hello Kitty eyeshadow x4 Too Dolly).
To have that color (I lurves me some hot pink) in a pigment formula is FABULOUS.
I would say this is even brighter! 🙂
Maybe this is a dumb question, but how would you suggest applying pigment?
Hi Jenny!
I just like to use a damp brush and then apply the pigment 🙂
THIS IS CRAZY BEAUTIFUL… i AM HAVING CHEST PAINS!!! SIGH!!!
I love how bright it is!
I just ordered this. Is this with or without white base? Looks good here though 🙂 love the color. I ordered this because I ran out of a bright pink, so I decided to go for a loose shadow.
Hi Desdemona,
I do not use primer of any kind in my photos unless specified (which is very, very rare) 🙂
