Stila Sparkle Liquid Eyeliners
Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($22.00 for 0.05 oz.) is available in eight shades: Bora Bora (sparkling turquoise), Rock Candy (sparkling warm brown), Electric (sparkling bright green), Sequins (sparkling black), Royal (sparkling electric purple), Flash (sparkling olive khaki), Starry (sparkling gunmetal gray), and Curacao (sparkling violet blue). I do not have Curacao, so unfortunately, it is not included in this post.
- Bora Bora is a bright, electric blue with soft silver sparkle. Make Up For Ever #5 Aqua Liner seems similar–possibly a little darker.
- Rock Candy is a medium-dark brown with khaki, bronze, and gold shimmer.
- Electric is a bluish teal with brighter blue shimmer. Make Up For Ever #4 Aqua Liner seems similar.
- Sequins is a dark black with silver sparkle.
- Royal is a medium-dark red-toned purple with violet and magenta sparkle. This was the least pigmented shade out of the seven I tried–it wasn’t as dense as the others, a little watery in the overall feel.
- Flash is a olive green with gold and green sparkle.
- Starry is a grayish mauve with multi-colored shimmer. I don’t get gunmetal gray at all here. It seems like it might be similar to Make Up For Ever #14 but it’s harder to call without a side-by-side swatch.
Stila’s Sparkle Eyeliners apply smoothly and evenly with excellent color payoff that requires no layering or build-up. I showed swatches of the very first stroke, then a second and third–never going back to get more product. The sponge applicator on these is thin and tapered to a dull point with enough give to easily maneuver around the curves of the lid but not so much that it is floppy. The formula is budge-, smudge-, and water-proof, as advertised, and removal went easily with both Lancome Bi-Facil and Make Up For Ever Sens’Eyes. As you remove, the product will flake off, akin to tube mascaras.
When I reviewed Make Up For Ever Aqua Liners, I touched on some of the recent releases of eyeliners in the same vein as those, which included Stila’s Sparkle Eyeliners, too. Stila’s are different from the others in terms of color and finish–these are richly shimmered and very pigmented, but the formula feels very much the same. In the next few days, I will be doing some swatch comparisons where applicable and posting the results.

Starry is beautiful and I love how green Flash is. Will definitely check these out next time I’m in Sephora.
These look spectacular in your swatches. And your photography skills are impressive!
Oh I LOVE the sparkle in these! It’s not super over the top it looks like so there’s less chance of my eyes looking like a Twilight vampire reject. Thanks Christine!
Are these limited edition?
No, these are permanent!
But Stila doesn’t test on animals, for whatever that is worth.
Christine- if you had to choose one sparkly black liner, would you choose Stila Sequins or MUFE Aqua Liner #14?
Probably MUFE, just because the applicator is a smidgen better, but those are $1 more.
bora bora is so pretty !
Hi Christine, do you like the MUFE or the Stila ones better? I can’t decide which ones to go for….
Formula-wise, they really wear about the same, and so it’s just about color for me. I do find the applicator on MUFE just a smidgen better, but really, they’re all close.
they look so pretty!!! All of them!!!
Bora Bora is gorgeous!
These look lovely! I am definitely an eyeliner addict and I need a new eyeliner like a hole in my head, might try in a few months when I use up some I already have.
IMHO I like these better then the MUF liners. The sparkle and shine is amazing. As usual though the MUF liners have much better color selection, but color for color I like the Stilla better.
I <3 BoraBora and Electric. Beautiful summery liners.
I was eyeing these at Ulta last week and *almost* bought Electric. So glad you have such a positive review, I may have to go pick it up!
I want Starry & Sequins!!
These look amaaaazing. Totally want.
Did you have any trouble taking these off? I tried out the electric color in Ulta when they came out and the green pigment would NOT wash off my hand, I mean that’s a good thing as far as longevity goes but I felt like it really stained my hand for a couple days! I would not want my lids stained green… lol
I used Lancome Bi-Facil and Make Up Sens’Eyes no problem. Greens/teals have a tendency to stain (no matter the product – just like reds for lip colors are more likely to stain than a nude).
I want to order some Stila makeup (graduation present for myself!) I will add some of these to my list. 🙂
That Rock Candy. It looks like the liquid version of NYC’s Mink Eye Pencil… I wish I was willing to pay $22 for an eyeliner now.. ;_; So beautiful…
Darnit makeup, why must you look so darn irresistible?
I have all these execpt Rock Candy and I love them all. I wore them on my hair for two days (included, a shower, bath, many hand washes) and they didnt budge.
🙂
Lancome’s Beach Gem liquid eyeliner is a nearly perfect dupe for Electric. 🙂
Gah! I don’t want to like them, they are $22!! But, sadly, they are gorgeous. ::sigh::
These are gorgeus! I’d love to see Curacao (well, Curaçao…) because that’s where my dad grew up. 😀
I must have all of them. That is all.
I love bora bora & royal sparkle!! I think I have to check these & the MUFE liners out!
If you do any comparison post, could you include the MAC Superslick Liquid Eyeliner ? Some colors look pretty comparable to me (Flash = on the hunt ; Flash = Desires & Devices…) !
Thank you for all your wonderful work Christine !
I was just going to write the same thing. I’d love to see you compare these with MAC superslick liquid eyeliners. Which one would you rather use/purchase since some colors look similar?
As I mentioned in the post, I am going to do a comparison! 🙂
Gorgeous!!!
