I know exactly what you mean. Part of me is saying “but it’s so similar to the original naked basics” and the other part is saying “but look at how gorgeous it is. I could work wonders with those nudes.” Urban Decay is just nailing it.

Well, Naked Basics + Naked 2 Basics = a 12-pan matte palette, at the same cost, and will actually take less space in a makeup bag/drawer!

Sharon Avatar

An online company called Paula’s Choice put out a 12 pan all matte palette (one satin shade) called the Nude Mattes with both cool and warm tones. Naked basics 2 doesn’t have enough variation, the first one is my go to travel palette but doubt I could even eyeline with the darker shades in the new palette.

Grace Avatar

Im pretty much over Naked, but the three shadows I always need to travel with are Walk of Shame, Secret Service (eyebrows), and MAC Kid. This may be an affordable way to restock on all three and more convenient to pack.

Wednesday Avatar

The darkest shade swatch doesn’t look very impressive and I can barely see the first two on your skin, but I would probably have experience similar issue with that as well.. My thought process on this palette had me excited about the overall neutrality of the tones which works far better than warm against my skin and the fact it contains 3 matte mid tones. This is an area where I find the other naked palettes really tends to fall down. If the three mid tones are decent, I’ll be game for this..for sure!

Nina Avatar

Urban Decay is sucking every bit of the Naked craze they can. Not saying it doesn’t work because people love the Naked palettes but this is something I won’t be buying. I’d rather pay like 10 dollars more and get a Lorac Pro Palette.

Julie Avatar

Ugh. I was so excited about this….I was really wanting some cooler toned, matte neutrals, but these swatches look much warmer than the promo pictures. Granted, they are cooler than the original basics, but these shades look neutral, at best. Sigh.

Chanel Avatar

Not enough variety for my taste (especially since the first 3 colors will be practically invisible on my dark skin) and it’s too generic and sort of boring. Urban decay should work on creating the Electric Palette 2 or at least another vice palette and give naked’s a rest.

Veronica Avatar

I had high hopes for this, but I’m not seeing anything excessively cool-toned about this palette. At least half of it still looks pretty warm. Bummer. :/

Ammara Avatar

I saw more pictures of it online and it looked more grey and cool tooned than it does here. I think it may just be the effect of the bright light and magnification against Christine’s warm skin. Maybe something to check out in person?

It’s funny, I find the lighter matte shades in my Naked Basics pretty thin textured and lacklustre, but the mattes in Smoked are superb. I wonder why they seem to have two different formulas or something for their mattes.

Grace Avatar

I have the first Basics and the first 3 colours basically look the same on skin when blended so I feel the 2nd version will be similar.. to me, the palette is not really worth it.

xamyx Avatar

I think Naked Basics really is the missing piece to Naked & Naked 2, but I think this one will really be a great addition to Naked 3-which I haven’t touched since I got it last Christmas… Cover & Primal seem like they’ll be real workhorses for me.

On the one hand, I love Skimp (just release it as a single UD!) and have used it the most of all my UD neutrals, on the other, I rarely use Naked Basics. It’s like the little angel and devil on my shoulders are duking it out: ‘But half of those shades won’t even show up!’ ‘But they’re so neutral, and look at how compact and cute the palette is!’ ‘They’re mostly mattes and you hardly ever use mattes.’ ‘Mattes are so classy, and you’ve used the hell out of Tease in Naked2….’

Still leaning towards getting Naked3, but I do love you compact and cute this is…

Jillian Avatar

I’m actually really loving this! I’m a HUGE fan of neutrals, I love playing around with different variations of the “no makeup, makeup” look. I know a lot of people complain about the Naked line, but UD also puts out a TON of palettes with brilliant, vibrant colours – it’s whatever tickles your fancy, I suppose 🙂 My Naked Basics palette is my most used palette, and I think this one would complement it nicely!

Mariella Avatar

I can see this being a really practical and easy to use palette for work looks and especially for travel and for those mornings when my brain is so foggy that I don’t know what to reach for. I am most definitely going to be getting this palette. I know it seems dull and boring and bland to a lot of folks but I’m actually really excited about Basics2.

Sarah Chicago Avatar

Okay, so this basically looks exactly like the first one. And once it’s applied on the eye, it all will look exactly the same. They could’ve made this a warm palette or something.

Rebecca Avatar

This one appeals to me way more than the first. I am not really a huge user of matte black shadow and the light shades were almost too light to me and in my opinion didn’t match well with the brown crease colour. This one is perfect for me, I use mattes almost daily for work and just hanging out at home or at my boyfriends. If I am feeling up to it I will go all out and do a full eye look. I always do on the weekends and for special events but on quick or lounge days matte neutral eyes are my favorite, they make my eye socket look more deep and defined as well.

MakeupTray Avatar

LOL!!! Kind of ticked off. I just got B1 because I have EP and some of the bloggers combine the two. THIS, B2 LOOKS BETTER!!!! lol. Ugh!!!

Diana Avatar

I think I’m going to end up buying this palette. I opted out of Naked Basic 1 because their weren’t enough midtones for me & I never use black eyeshadow…not even as an eyeliner. Can’t wait to read the full review.

Ammara Avatar

I want the Naked 3 Basics. I hope it doesn’t have more than one light shade and variations on purple/pink matte neutrals like Tease and Nooner.
I enjoy their Naked line because I only own one product, that is Naked2. Obviously, the ones who have all the Naked palettes might be a little tired of this, but I want to see it expand and see what else they do with it. On the other hand, I’d love to see a colourful palette like their old school artist ones like Vegan.

Mariella Avatar

Okay, I see in your more recent look at this palette that it will be at Sephora around the 28th. The more I see of this palette, the more I really want it. I’m especially loving Undone – it’s such a cool tone of brown and nicely subdued.

Heidi Avatar

They said these colors were all new, but wasn’t Skimp in the Mariposa palette ages ago?
Maybe this is another version of the same color?

Courtney Avatar

I love the NAKED line, and all the regular palettes are great and all with different ‘themes’ or tones behind them.
I even own the original NAKED basics and find it great, it’s great on its own or as a supplement to others-but I just don’t see the point in this one. It just doesn’t look unique enough to justify it.

Tangie Wimberly Avatar

Love, I’m so simple when it come to eye looks. So this is perfect. I think eventually all the crazy makeup looks will fade and will be all about skin care and simplicity.. Just my prediction. I can see the future. (Joke)..! Lol

Deborah Avatar

I get that UD is in business to make money – but seriously people. I love buying cosmetics – some I might not ever use but to keep buying the same ‘look’ over and over? The people at UD are brilliant. I won’t be purchasing this.

Amber M Avatar

Honestly, my Naked Basics palette is the one and only palette that I’ve kept from the entire line and I love it so I think I’ll get this one too. It’s small, easy to travel with and the packaging is great. I’m pretty tired of Naked everything too but I really do love the smaller and more compact palettes.

YVONNE Avatar

I heard new basics 2 pallete .. I said OMG I gotta have it . .. then this swatch , no way ! waste of time and money I was hoping for maybe some purple or mauve type deal maybe even like a burnt orange or something … major let down !
